    I disagree- when he is on, he is on. Why give suckers a better chance. Basically no hard hit balls against him. Especially when there are only 2 guys I really trust in the pen.

    Appleton might be a bit high. With all the pitchers they drafted, they will be lacking positional players in the lower levels. They might be in need at ACL and Carolina. Would be cool to see him in full season ball to start out.

    I also agree that top 20 is getting a little difficult. It should be stretched to 30 or 25 at the least. A lot of players in that same category. I wish Adamczewski was a choice, Just so many tough questions with only top 20. Do you leave off some of the great DSL guys? Do you not include more than 1 -2 players from this draft class? For fun, we should honestly have a top 40, there is more then enough clamor for it and it gives some opportunity for those casual readers to know our system a little bit better.

    I know people joke about it, but I think with another off-season, Sal Frelick is still higher up on the depth chart for 3rd Base then Wilken or Monestarrio. Especially if they are looking for playing time for Black in the OF. I think they want to keep Frelick instead of trade him, and 3rd base might just be a way of doing that. There is no rush for promoting Wilken or Boeve before they are ready. That being said, he has been improving. With Willy Adames likely gone next year, the question is who will be the team leader in the clubhouse and practice field? I think the front office likes what they see in Frelick and Mitchell as far as bringing the right kind of attitude and energy. Yes they are not your veteran presence leaders, but they seem very much like leaders. 2025 Depth Chart 3B Sal Frelick- Monestarrio - Collins (That's why they are testing him there now) I also dont think Ortiz is a lock - He has been good at fielding, but too many of his throws have been saved by the 1B. I think he gets first chance because Turang has been a gold glove at 2B. That being said, Ortiz has been good at 3B and Turang could also be Gold glove quality at short and it might be easier to find a free agent 2B.

    At first glance, really frustrated with this deal. I would have been frustrated with Montas for Junis straight up, much less giving up Weimer who has just started to have a lot better eye at the plate and just starting to get his power back. Weimer still has considerable upside with I believe 4 years of control. Lots of people are saying the Brew should be given benefit of the doubt, but I’m doubting the benefit this time.

    How does control of a player work in a case like Smith’s? Is he technically a free agent every year? Do we only get one year of control when he reaches the majors?

    1st clear tier is 1-4 for me. With Misso, Gasser, Black, Quero 2nd clear tier is 5-7: Boeve, Wilken, Wichroski 3rd tear it gets harder (8-12), not as much upside maybe, but they should all make the pros. 4th tier I feel like could go from 13-30 fairly easy. and many of those players would be on other teams top 20. Especially when it comes to pitchers. Some are just too young to know what we have got. I could see some in this batch rising into top ten in our system. Yoho and JC Hunt have been phenomenal, but how do you rank relievers in the lower levels, much less at the upper levels. And we have so many talented young starters that could rise up. 30 games in is a little challenging to know with these young starters. None of them have really been a disappointment. I would also add Carlos Rodriguez the OF onto this list probably before Ernesto. They are both older prospects, and likely trade material, but they are starting to really play well at a hard level. By the time we have voting again, I could envision Gasser and Dunn off the list, and two more pitchers added. This is going to be a pitching heavy top 20 list, and rightfully so. The Brewers need some new #1 and #2 caliber pitchers if they are going to chase a World Series.

    Anyone have an update on our favorite CF/1B Ernesto Martinez Jr? Ever since the surprising switch to CF, his bat was on a roll. Now he has been out for almost a week. Hope everything is ok. All I hear about this guy, at least on here, is good things as a person and player. Hope we get to see him back in the lineup soon.

    I also thought this outing wasn’t as bad as the numbers for Hall. He got pinched on a couple pitches that should have been 3rd strikes, and a couple bad bounces. That being said, there still valid criticism and room for improvement. I would like to give Hall at least 2 more starts to show signs of hope, but then wouldn’t mind seeing Myers (even though it looks like they are now targeting him for relief. I also think they should consider stretching out Hudson. He has been valuable in the pen, but I think Nashville has plenty of Relievers showing they are ready to be tested at a higher level.

    Looks like Dunn made it. Curious about JB Bukauskas, heard he was on the trip to NY as well. Are we missing another injury report or is this insurance in case of another injury? I’m guessing they are trying to trade Haase as he deserves to play somewhere. That’s probably why they are holding off on any final roster announcement.

    I agree that the Brewers currently have enough mid-tier arms. Currently it looks like: Peralta Miley Junis Ross/Hall Rea But at sometime during the season we need to see Ashby and Gasser. I dont look at this as a World Series year with so much youth and 1 borderline ace.. Maybe a year similar to the Orioles last year, where they get lucky and preform well. If that is the case, we have enough prospect capital and cash to get an upper level arm at the All-Star break. If not this needs to be a season of evaluating Ashby, Gasser, Hall, and maybe Rodriguez and Misso further down the line. On offense, even more so, we need to see if these young guys can hit and field, as next year we need to know what to do with Brown, Wilken, and Clark if they continue their progress. This finding out process might come with some downs, especially with the pitching. In the long term, you need to see Ashby & Hall & Gasser get experience and get a better evaluation on what their ceiling may be, so you know what needs to be done on the pitching end next year when I believe Chourio and some of the other young bats will hopefully be more primed for success.

    Is anyone else having problems with these videos. For me, it gets sometimes 30 seconds to 1 minute into a 5 minute video, plays an advertisement, and after the advertisement automatically changes video.

    I like Santana. He seems like a great teammate and better than what the Brewers have had. If they keep Burnes, I would like to see Santana or Belt or Cooper. Most likely Santana wants closer to 8M, Brewers are likely waiting for that number to be closer to 6M and even then Brewers don’t like to spend that kind of money at 1B. Brewers are probably waiting a week or two for more clarity on if Teams are really going to go after Burnes or Adames. Some of the trade pieces may determine where they will spend money and may also determine if 2024 is a growth gap year.

    I think someone said 4 years until free agency for Contreras. Brewers usually don’t trade their good assets until 1-2 years left. Most likely no decision will need to be made this year. It’s still a big step up to AAA and a bigger step up to Pros. Where they would probably want to ease him in. Yes if he pushes the issue. But for me, if the brewers are competitive, you keep the one with the proven mlb track record and trade Quero 1-2 years down the road. If not competitive, or Contreras underperforms or gets injured.. you might do the opposite..so many variables, but I don’t think it’s a high priority consideration at this point unless Contreras is open for extension.
