  1. Everyone talking about how Hader's value isn't what we all think it is must forget the Yankees got Gleyber Torres for a RENTAL Arlodis Chapman. If "this" was the package Stearns was in love with, his evaluation skills are lacking. To trade the best reliever in the game and not get AT least one of Hassell or Campusano is a total disservice. You don't get one of them, fine, don't trade Josh now then. Wait until the off season. You could have gotten at least as much then. Also, IF the tweet i saw yesterday is accurate that the Brewers wouldn't include Weimer in a Soto deal, then Stearns needs to pack his bags. That is absolutely inexcusable. This is what I mean, Stearns has no "bad ass" in him. He's too nice. He lets teams include players to even out salary without getting more back, and doesn't DEMAND more of a package then what they got. "Pay my price or we don't trade him" Simple as that. I really miss Doug Melvin. he was the "epitome" of going for it, and be rest assured, with the pitching staff they have now, and Melvin as GM, they wouldn't be making paltry little deals like they have been at the deadline. They would have been one of the big winners at the deadline the last couple years at least.
  2. I will just say this...want a pulse of some of the Brewers fan base?? Mark Attanasio is getting absolutely woodshedded on twitter. People are straight up PISSED.
  3. I don't necessarily have a vandetta. But let me give you an example, Of what I'd like to see sometime. Let's use DS's own words for this exercise. He mentioned how they have never made one outgoing call about Hader, but essentially that the package SD put in front of them was too good to turn down. Okay, I get that if that's how he felt. But...isn't the reverse also true?? Has DS ever put a package in front of a team (that maybe wasn't looking to trade a particular player), that they just couldn't say no too?? Now of course we will never know for sure, but given the way DS operates, I think it's fair to assume the answer is more than likely no. Well, why not?? Why can't they ever have a deadline like the Padres just did, and just once be the "big winners" at the deadline?? The window is only open for so long, and for a small market team, when you have that window you MUST do everything you can to take advantage of it, because that window may never come around again, or at least not for a really long time. I look at what the Padres gave up for Soto and I think..."okay there is no way the Brewers couldn't have given an offer just as good(if not better) than the Padres, right?? Sure they could have. Okay so many would say "you empty the farm then". Do you?? The Padres didn't. Also, in reagrds to that, keep in mind, even if you do trade "prospects"(and that's all they are btw), you have Soto for two years(where the $$ isn't prohibitive) to capitalize on the window you have. After that you trade him again and perhaps even get more than what you originally gave up. And no less than what you gave up for sure. So, why aren't the Brewers more aggressive at the deadline?? That always leaves me scratching my head.
  4. Sure, but you know what does get things over the finish line?? Making a team an offer they can't refuse.
  5. Mark lied to all of us... Will Sammon @WillSammon · Mar 24 Mark Attanasio shared with reporters today that after the lockout, the Brewers had "three big names we were hoping for, and we got one in Andrew McCutchen." Regarding some payroll clarity recently w/ player agreements, he said, "We always leave room to do things at midseason."
  6. Because of course...we hear every year how they are in on something that "doesn't get across the finish line". To me, that's on Stearns. Make SURE it gets across the finish line then. https://twitter.com/AdamMcCalvy/status/1554594274875932672?s=20&t=bfcE9JzegTGbalwthHjjYw
  7. It's not 5:00 but when I saw Stearns's quote this morning that "there is no obvious place to add a bat", I knew then they weren't going to acquire one. Even if they do at this point, it won't be the big bat they need. It will be some slap hitting utility guy. Also known as a Non needle mover.
  8. I mean, I have no idea why Stearns doesn't think they need a bat. What an incredibly disappointing trade deadline...again.
  9. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman · 2m Rosenthal traded to Brewers. Trevor that is.
  10. Sure, but here's the thing. I don't think enough GM's play true "hardball". I would have. It would have been "alright, you want Josh, then I'm getting EXACTLY what I want for him, or I'm not trading him". In situations like this, you(in this case DS) holds all the cards. See how badly they really want him. They meet your price or you don't deal him. Now we will never know, but did DS even ask for more?? If you judge it just by what he said at his PC today that "the package of players SD offered was best for the organization", you could say no, he didn't. That was SD's offer and DS didn't even try bargaining for more. I don't know, maybe it turns out okay in the end, but at the VERY least Josh should have been traded somewhere where the return was at minimum a needle moving MLB bat.
  11. I wouldn't have done it for any less than Hassell, Campusano and Rogers. That to me is the proper return for a guy as dominant as Josh has been
  12. I mean, shouldn't this paragraph say it all in describing just how valuable Hader should have been?? If any reliever should have gotten a massive haul, it was him. This is from the Athletic: It’s almost unprecedented for any team to trade for a bullpen monster like Josh Hader. Then again, maybe we’ve never seen a bullpen monster like Josh Hader in any of our lifetimes. He’s the most unhittable closer in history. He’s allowed the least contact of any closer in history. He’s had to work from the stretch less often than any closer in history. Looking for a definition of late-inning dominance? That about covers it.
  13. If this was all the Crew was going to get for Hader, I'd rather they had let him walk after 2023 and got nothing in return. Everyone wants to spin this like Stearns is some god getting what he got, but personally I think he got fleeced. Sure, he got "two" major leaguers back, but they aren't great major leaguers. I was one who always said, IF/when they traded Hader, the return had to be MASSIVE. This, by no stretch of the imagination is MASSIVE
