  1. I hope people have somewhat changed their tune about run prevention vis a vis having an actual competent LU after watching this series. It matters, it matters ALOT.
  2. You know, this Braves lineup mashes, no doubt about it, but one of the things you'll notice that makes them so good is their approaches. A LOT of first pitch swinging, something I have longed for Brewer hitters to do for many years.
  3. Anyone else having issues with the Bally broadcast? Since last night with Directv, it's like...slow. What I mean is, you can hear the ball pop in the catchers mitt at least a full second AFTER it's actually happened. It's strange
  4. It's as I said last night, when your staff is struggling and your "run prevention" isn't at it's best, you shouldn't already be buried when it's 4-0 after 1 inning. GET SOME DAMN BATS Arnold!!
  5. Two more and it's about out of reach. How pathetic is that?
  6. I also agree, with an average offense and their pitching it can be done. The problem is, there are still WAY too many holes in this lineup and sadly are still a ways away from even being average.
  7. I get that, they are doing it to everyone. Point being, wouldn't it be nice to have an offense where if your staff gives up 5-6 runs on any given night, you never really feel like it's insurmountable? With the Brewers pitching and defense as good as it is, to not have a better offense is malpractice.
  8. My whole point of that statement was, against lineups like the Braves, with now already 6 runs, you pretty much have to hold them to 2-3 to have any kind of chance. Scoring 7 runs with this offense seems impossible. Nights where your run prevention isn't great, you SHOULD be able to count on your offense, to pick it up, alas, they cannot.
  9. The funny thing is, you have been one of the biggest critics here(and rightly so) of how putrid this offense is.
  10. Why are you ignoring my Braves example? Name the last team to win a World Series with as bad of an offense as the 2023 Brewers?
  11. Frelick, Contreras, Yelich, Santana, Soto, Monesterio, Adames, Candelario, Hiura
  12. And in all likelihood won't/wouldn't make it out of the 1st round of the playoffs, because, a team like the Braves for instance could score 3 off Burnes, and the Brewers don't have the firepower to come back from that. Think about that. You also do realize the crew has a negative run differential, right? You know what that tells me? That they have been pretty lucky in a lot of close games this year. So if they have the 5th or 6th best record in baseball, imagine what their record would be like if they could hit. I mean the Braves, are one of the worst fielding teams in all of baseball, what about their "run prevention"? They don't have to worry about it, because they can ht their way out of any situation.
  13. So about that "run prevention" philosophy. It's bunk, always has been bunk. You know who is almost dead last in fielding in baseball? The team with the best record in baseball, the Atlanta Braves. Hitting wins folks.
  14. The correct answer here then is....so blow them away. Very simple, very easy.
  15. Because people said they need another BP arm, which would mean acquiring one at the deadline. My point was they haven't had good luck with adding arms at the deadline. In the offseason, yes. But not at the deadline. Their BP is fine, just add more bats.
  16. Laughably inaccurate? Let's see, where do I start? In recent years there has been John Curtiss(bust), Matt Bush(bust), Daniel Norris(bust), Taylor Rogers(bust). The only one they have acquired(AT THE DEADLINE..key phrase) in recent memory that was any good was Drew Pomeranz.
  17. 2021 World Series champions Atlanta Braves say hi.
  18. And that's fair, but come on, what in the Brewers past indicates they will go out and get 2-3 more bats? They upgraded 1B, but for my $$, still need upgrades at 2B, 3B, DH and an OF spot. And no, calling up Hiura or moving internal pieces around, doesn't count.
  19. Ironically, Santana is exactly the kind of profile bat that the Crew always signs in the off season, and how has that worked out for them?
  20. Sure multiple band aids. Now, IF(and I highly doubt it), the Crew goes out and acquires 2-3 more bats at the Santana level(or better), then yes, I will give you that, it should be a pretty big upgrade. But does anyone really believe they will go get at least two more bats?? I'll believe it when i see it.
