  1. Looks like the ghost of the Pfister got to Sandoval's stomach.
  2. And the Cards and Cubs are down by 3 and 4 runs respectively.
  3. Freaks and Geeks- Great show, so underrated. When an opposing pitcher gets in trouble I was always a proponent of showing the Marlon Brando as Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now: "The horror, the horror." Or, if that's to violent, at least playing the soundbite.
  4. I think I was pretty clear. I didn't present any specific trade ideas. I suggested Melvin didn't do enough to fill the void at pitching and was told there were no alternatives. Take a longer gander at the thread sir. The logic was taken at face value with no leap.Your post said "I listed several free agent options, trade options, and was told none of them were feasible." Then your very next post you say, "I didn't present any specific trade ideas." You say I'm not looking at the thread close enough because I thought you did present trade ideas? I was using your exact words.
  5. Not at all, I listed several free agent options, trade options and was told none of them are feasible. It is additionally rumoured that the Cards are puting together a package for Matt Holliday with it being front loaded with Ryan Ludwick and the backup catcher. Seems this "nobody is selling" is starting to hold less water. Maybe something can be done soon?So you took the idea that some people didn't think YOUR trade ideas would be able to go through and interpreted that as "There is nothing Melvin can do to help this team. His hands are tied." Kind of a large leap in logic.
  6. People can go read the In game thread themselves. I think you are grossly misstating the conversation.
  7. The Pfister. Lengendary for its "hauntings." That ghost gave him some home run pop.
  8. Lincecum is not. We get a guy making his major league debut. I'm ambivalent.
  9. I was thinking Hardy for one of their 5 starters with hoping for Slowey or Blackburn.. also was referring to the start of the season not now. . I, like the Twins, thought Slowey was one of the 15 best pitchers in the A.L. before the season. He was the second pitcher I took in my draft. I think the Twins knew this season was coming. Deflating loss. For the Gigantes.
  10. 0% chance the Twins would give us Slowey for Hardy. Maybe a negative 5% chance.
  11. My point is he likely never will. And if he ever does it will be several years from now with another organization anyways. What kind of example does this set for the rest of our legitmate prospects? If he was going to figure it out he would have the 1st time. Unless I'm wrong this is technically his 3rd offense already. Didn't the Brewers catch him on there own as well? This is the one case where I couldn't care less if he caught on with another team and made it. He's not much of an example for kid's to look up to. What am I supposed to do if he's up with the Brewers someday. Lean over to my kids and say quit cheering for our team for a minute while this idiot pitches? Not the type of conversation I want to be having at a ballpark. You could do that for a million players: Paul Molitor: Cocaine Josh Hamilton: Crack Brett Myers: Spousal Abuse Mike Cameron: Amphetamines A million players (including A Brewer last year- Gagne): Performance Enhancing Drugs Sexson, Furcal, etc.: DUIs Plenty of players: Alcoholism etc. etc. etc. How much can you judge before you give people a chance to reform themselves? I like to think that people gave me a chance to reform myself and it worked out, thanks to that opportunity. And when I think of the worst thing I've ever done, it goes far beyond weed. I'm in no position to cast the first stone.
  12. Same here. Thanks for giving me at least a ray of hope that I won't be sitting through 3 miserable games. Where will you be sitting? I will be in 220, 236, and 506 for the 3 games, respectively. I'll be a bleacher bum all three days. Wrigley is the one place I really have no reservations in sitting out there (I've gotten tickets in back of home, only to find a pole in front of my face). I love getting there early and getting first row seats. i was there when that Brewer fan caught that Prince homer and wouldn't throw it back. People pelted my brother and I with hot dog wrappers while chanting "Jeffery Dahmer." We had the audacity to be Brewer fans. Anyway, we won.
  13. Not last year. He had a 0.43 ERA in 3 starts against the Brewers. But, I'll be at the Friday, Saturday, Sunday games and my Brewers record at Wrigley is quite good.
  14. Beware, my friend. I started a "Am I the only one who hates U2?" post a couple years ago. I got a couple shows of support, but mostly the "How can you not worship the benevolent Bono??!!!" rants. I believe that U2 puts sublimonal "U2 is great" messages in their music that you and I just can't hear.
  15. Yeah, I thought Macha was from the Billy Beane school where your leadoff hitter is all about OBP. McGehee's .414 dwarfs Kendall's .323 (and McGehee's is even better after his first few ABs).
  16. Cubs get a taste of their own medicine. Walk off dinger for Anderson.
  17. Wow. I know Soup's not supposed to be the one there, but he's a professional baseball player. He's got to catch that.
  18. I don't understand. I see a long string of posts lamenting JJ and the defense for tonight's woes. I'm not sure I can relate to how you're perceiving things.
  19. If we need to pinch hit for soup, who's on long relief duty?
  20. This- AND the Cubs are doing it again with a 2 run, 2 out HR by Hoffpauir in the 8th off Zumaya. They lead the Tigers 4-3 in the top of the 9th.
