  1. Cubs going bankrupt Financially or morally?
  2. Prince and Brauny are our two most valuable hitters by such a wide margin that I cannot conjured up the superlatives to make my point. Yes, Prince is a first baseman, but would he be that much more valuable if he was a right fielder? Would you really see Hoffpauir or Fox as an adequate replacement for someone like Prince? I don't care what position he plays, it is no easy task to find that kind of hitter to be your cleanup man, especially as a small market team. I have always wanted to sign Prince long term because A.) he is one of the best hitters in the league and B) for a very selfish reason- I've become accustomed to him and have become a big fan. I haven't felt that we've had such superstars to gawk over in Milwaukee (Braun and Prince) since the days of Molly and Yount. Oh, and he does help us win. Whether we can actually get him to sign a long term deal is another matter. He may be primed for the large markets and he really seemed to get his feathers ruffled when we gave him a stingy contract two years in a row. Hopefully Braun can go to work on convincing him to stay here. Scott Boras probably wouldn't be into it, though.
  3. I would have to say that BoSox and Yanks fans are equally obnoxious.... I respectfully disagree. I admit that my opinion is based only on my personal experience, but I attended a game at Yankee Stadium in a Royals jersey (their opponent that day) and had one of the greatest times ever. They gave me the business in clever and respectful ways. They never yelled "(Fill in someone's name), you suck!" And every conversation going on around me was about...get this....baseball! I've actually never had problems with Cardinals fans. I have never been to Fenway, so I can't comment on them. Cubs fans lie in direct opposition to my experiences with Yankee and Cardinal fans. I know of no group of fans that can combine lack of baseball knowledge with diarrhea of the mouth so passionately. I hate the Yankees, but when I must tip my cap- I do.
  4. There is no way that is true. No way. I've sat through just as many years and all those losing seasons and this statement baffles me.
  5. Wow. I knew that. That was just all out idiocy on my part. I'm embarrassed that I just did that.
  6. Question: I've always heard Parra's no-no referred to as a perfect game. However, as the scoreboard shows, the Sounds had an error. Is it really a perfect game, then? I understand the error was not Parra's fault (unless it was on Parra), but I always assumed a perfect game meant no base runners. Or, perhaps it was a dropped foul ball?
  7. Yeah, but my point is that Parra struggled with Kendall as his catcher. He earned his way to the majors a few years ago (and got his no hitter) with Rivera as his catcher. I thought it was a perfect match, unlike Bush/Rivera, who never were together before (sans an occasional pairing last year).
  8. Perhaps Rivera has been the personal catcher for the wrong pitcher.
  9. It was a good article, but they said Cameron had a 30 game suspension last year. It was actually 25. I know it's nit picking, but I just don't get how sportswriters get those easily attainable facts wrong.
  10. I see a few repeats with the same record and tie breaker. How is that handled? First one to have guessed it wins ?
  11. Saw the BBBB mentioned a couple times and figured I should chime in that I worked there years ago. Since I moved away, I've found nothing that can satisfy my B4 withdrawal. As a side note, if you ever go back to the Weary Traveler, look for a "family photo" of seven roommates on the wall. I'm the one in the middle.
  12. Milledge just doesn't seem to be a favorite inside MLB clubhouses.
  13. If we got Meche, he would still have 2 years at $11 million per after this year. I don't see it.
  14. Snell and Parra seem like perfect roommates.
  15. I don't see it as a stretch to think that because the Brewers plan on Gamel being an every day player in 2010, they actually see a greater benefit in having Mat play in front of 40,000 fans this year in order to get ready. The mere atmosphere of the majors- the fans, the ballparks, ESPN highlights- makes the majors a different beast than AAA. He not only gets to learn from Randolph and Sveum, but also Counsell, JJ, and the basic day-to-day routines of the majors. Coming to the majors and starting right away did not seem to work for JJ and Rickie (Braun was a freak of nature). I think the experience of being on a big league club can mean more than a few more reps in front of 2,000 fans in Round Rock.
  16. Name the last bald ROY. I can't.
  17. I'll go with 14-12, which can be seen as slightly optimistic, but we do have 8 games against the Pirates, Nats, and Padres. 8+6+7= 21 Blackjack. EDIT: In case it matters, those numbers went Prince-Braun-Hoffman.
  18. Many criminologists have come to the conclusion that, while it is true most hard drug users smoked weed, this does not entail a correlation. Most hard drug users also smoked cigarettes, drank beer, drank milk, ate macaroni and cheese, watched television, etc. at some point in their lives. Most hard drug users would have been willing to take any and every drug- could you imagine someone saying "I shoot heroin, but no way would I ever mess with weed"? It's like saying most major leaguers used to play tee-ball, but tee-ball is by no means some large gateway into the major leagues.
  19. It's ominous, but I'm guessing the Crew would be willing to give up more for Lee than for DeRosa. Perhaps we just didn't go grand enough to det DeRosa. EDIT: Now that I've actually read the article, your take seems pretty valid.
  20. It just never happened for Big Ben #2, did it? The man who defined the AAAA moniker is probably not far from riding into the sunset, though he'll probably latch on with a minor league bullpen somewhere for a little while.

  22. If being addicted to Uecker is wrong, I don't want to be right!Awesome, CheezWizHead. Though I was actually referring to my previous addiction to Pat Hughes.
  23. But we're now 0-4 against first time pitchers, though we did knock Tommy Hanson around.
