  1. That's not the instance I'm talking about. I understand that one (and I think that one is actually credited with a stolen base). I'm talking about one man on, going to second.
  2. Hunter Pence needs to slow down for two reasons: 1. Let Braun pass him 2. I just traded Pence off of my fantasy team, which takes effect next week.
  3. Before I ask my question, let me state, yes-I know what defensive indifference is, how to score it, etc. No need to explain that to me. However, I have never received a satisfactory answer for why you do not try to throw the runner out. People say "because that run doesn't matter." Yeah, but they're giving you a free chance at an out. Remember the Texas game? The one where we were up 3-0 with 2 out in the ninth? The first runner who got on went to second without a throw "because that run didn't matter." But it was a chance to get out number three, which we never got and ended up losing. If the run doesn't matter, why not try to get an out, which would matter. I don't see why you don't try.
  4. I complained more than most when Dessens was our 25th man, and I meant it. But I think Spurling has been fine. The numbers support that, he's cheap, has no options, and I can't believe this topic came up after 2 scoreless yesterday, and one scoreless against the Cubs.
  5. UeckerAddict, I haven't gotten the opportunity to listen to "Excellent Italian Greyhound" yet. Does it compare to "1000 Hurts?" I personally am a huge fan of "1000 Hurts," "Terraform," and "At Action Park." I thought this album held up well with the others, especially the tracks "The End of Radio" which is like an anthem for the insane, and "Steady As She Goes" and "Spoke" that allow Albini to shriek in his eerie White Sox fan vocal tones. "Genuine Lulabelle" was a little cofusing for me, but other than that, it's a great album.
  6. Gagne/Otsuka. Especially if we suffer an inevitable D.L. dwelling by one of our pitchers.
  7. I agree with those who have said that they are generic pictures. My thought exactly. And #3 is DEFINITELY Cooper.
  8. Shellac "Excellent Italian Greyhound"
  9. Saw An Unreasonable Man. Very good documentary on Ralph Nader that shows all different sides of his story. Educational whether you like the man, hate him, or are indifferent.
  10. I don't throw the ball back or support that action just because I hate Chicago fans so much. I concur.
  11. Ha! I was at that game. You may have heard me. I was the only damn person in the stadium rooting for Scott Karl against Big Mac.
  12. People may not bid as much for the ball if they feel that ARod will end up breaking the record down the line.
  13. I bet Cappy's glad they stuck Wilson in the eight hole.
  14. That's what the guy(s) who caught #73 said.
  15. I have similar pictures on my phone from seeing the Crew-Pirates last year. I still think it is the best MLB ballpark I have been too. Yes, if it rains there is no game. But if it's nice out, that place is outstanding.
  16. Here's the site I was talking about. link
  17. I know some company or organization put up a million dollars for the ball, but MLB made them retract it for fear of injury (imagine throwing $1 million dollar bill into a crowd). If that ball lands in McCovey Cove, they better have a lifeguard on duty.
  18. I would say the first two weeks after the break are huge considering how a number of Ned Yost Brewer teams have completely collapsed in the second half of the season.
  19. I don't see them doing the Biggio thing with the record. I do. Plenty of talking heads (for what its worth) say Bochy will. The Giants are a last place team and Barry and the Giants want to hear cheers instead of boos as he rounds the bases.
  20. Me like lefties. Any idea if the game (video) will be available to those of us that have the mlb.com package?
  21. If SF doesn't pull off a miracle run (like winning 12 straight) and Bonds is on the verge of 756 with a homestand scheduled after the Brewer series, my guess is that they will just bench him. The city of SF, Barry Bonds, and even MLB all want it to happen at home.
  22. Are we ranking what they've done so far this year, what we think they will do, or what they have historically done?
  23. I would say our biggest win was the extra inning game at Wrigley early in the year where Prince hit 2 HRs and Villanueva signaled the start of a great first half by pitching 4 scoreless (with Gabe Gross as our next pitching option) to get the win. It also signaled a coming hot streak that would propel the Crew to a 24-10 start. Worst loss has to be Texas. Up 3-0 with 2 outs and nobody on in the ninth? Ugh. And on a statistical note, Sheets would have 11 wins if Cordero had closed the door (and a 72-72 lifetime record). 11-3 for Sheets (possibly 12-3) at the break would have been scrumptous.
  24. I personally kind of hope Prince eschews the HR derby.
  25. In '82 we had 3 players go, Cecil Cooper, Ben Oglivie & Robin Yount. I think Yount was the top vote getter. In '82 we had four. link
