  1. Dusty Baker=Ross Perot Maybe they can put this gem from Ross up in the clubhouse "Failures are like skinned knees, painful but superficial. "
  2. I know. I guess they just like their own guys. It's nice in a way cause everyone has something vested in the franchise but at the same time, I think a new eye on the talent might bring a new perspective on things. I don't really care as much about third base in this respect but I won't veer off topic...
  3. You know, I love that the franchise keeps bringing up it's own and working from within but sometimes I just wish they'd bring in some fresh perspectives. All these guys have worked together and while that brings a certain amount extra background knowledge and that, I think a fresh perspective might be nice. I dunno. Just a thought.

  5. D-Backs/Indians WS!
  6. As I cheered and watched him leave the field, it dawned on me. I never once thought to myself that he dogged it. Not once. Glad to see that he got the sendoff he deserved. I'm glad I could be part of it. With that being said, let's not pick up the option and turn around and sign him. Thanks Geoff!
  7. Last night's game was a summary of this entire frustrating season. Right on the doorstep of a sweep and really putting the pressure on Chicago. Just hunker down and get the win, right? Well, what do you get? You get the best hitter with RISP leaving 34 people on base. You get 5 errors in one inning and one run. You get a questionable move by the manager that probably lead to critical runs. You get a bullpen implosion. You get a ball hit to center that probably should have been caught. You get a loss and YOU GET YOUR HOPES CRUSHED. I really believed they were going to pull it out. I thought that somehow this team was going to dig down and play solid from top to bottom for one week. But now? Now I think THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! I hate that I have to face the fact that they're just not that good. I'd love to pin this season on Yost. It'd be easy but as I've watched them squander away the lead in an AWFUL division, I've come to the conclusion that they're just not good enough right now. So after 6 months of living and breathing Brewers baseball. Of dreaming. Of believing. I have to walk away with that same uneasy, unsatisfied feeling I've had MY ENTIRE LIFE WITH THIS TEAM. It was kind of fun, though.

  9. Weeks' error doesn't happen if Coco doesn't serve up a meatball to a .218 PH. Neither does Miller's pants-wetting in the 11th for that matter. Why are people trying to diminish the home run? Weeks' error also doesn't happen if they get the run in with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Or if they get a couple runs with the bases loaded and a base hit. That's the thing with this team. There's usually many offenders in their losses.
  10. I'd love to blame Yost for this. It's simple and convenient. But it's not completely accurate. This game is a synopsis of the season. Missed opportunities. A big error. I know many will say that the Cubs got lucky and calls didn't go our way down the stetch and in a way, both statements are true. But what it boils down to, and I hate to say this, the Cubs are just a slightly better team and they are most likely going to win the division by a slight margin. I do not want to see Yost back next season but I can't blame him entirely for this. Down the stretch, the Cubs are making plays and finding ways to win while we find ways to lose. Man I'm upset right now.
  11. I'm a big LOSER! I did sign on for a 20 pack next year though so I have my tickets. Now, if the Crew would cooperate with my desire to see playoff baseball in this city, that'd be stupendous.
  12. Maybe I'm missing something but in the game log, it looks like he brought Turnbow in with runners on. Did that happen and nobody is talking about it? I would think that would be a hot topic today.
  13. POST #500 I just noticed I have 499 posts and wanted to commemorate my 500th. I'd like to thank everyone who made it possible and make a promise to my team and fans that I'll keep typing hard and "posting the right way." Thank you!
  14. That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I may be in for that action.
  15. Cluels--you broke it down perfect. I came to do that. But instead, I'll share my excitement that I signed on for a 20 game pack for next year. I was going to anyway and when I saw I'd get playoff (fingers crossed) tickets too, it was a no brainer. The guy said he'd call me probably tomorrow so whoever said they were moving forward is correct. I can't imagine there's going to be a whole lot left for the general public.
  16. I've taken a few days off. This is my first post in about a week. After taking everything in this season, I feel really good no matter what happens. Yes, they could have a won a few more and made the race less exciting. But for the first time in recent memory, I was MORE interested in a Brewer game than MNF. I've sat patiently in the stands watching horrible baseball waiting for "the kids" to come up. I watched a guy like Bill Hall blossom (yes, I know he's wilting lately) into a great player. Well, win or lose, they're all here and it's exciting. I have tickets to the final game of the season and I cannot wait to give the team a standing ovation no matter the outcome of the year. This has been the best year for me as a Brewers fan and as frustrating as things have been at times, this has been an absolute blast this season. I don't know why but I truly believe this team is going to pull a game out of their behinds and win the pennant in dramatic fashion. This is going to be a great 3 weeks.
  17. What re the fans supposed to do when the team continually blow big leads late in games? Start the wave. Yell, "Get em next time, partner!" Booing is the only way fans can say, "Hey-- I think you're better than this." This whiny, it hurts our feelings attitude is getting really old. When did athletes become such pirmadonnas? The thing that surprises me the most, though, is that the fans booed louldly when Ned popped out to pull Shouse. Booing when something bad on the field happens is one thing but booing AT A MOVE. I've never seen that and it spoke volumes to me.
  18. I looked at some stats after listening to the "playing the percentages" thing with Aquino: Biggio: VS LHP .331 .360 .492 .852 VS RHP .226 .260 .360 .620 Pence: VS LHP .369 .418 .607 1.025 VS RHP .308 .341 .536 .877 Shouse: VS LHH .167 .222 .208 .431 VS RHH .253 .323 .289 .612 Aquino (not including today): VS LHH .286 .375 .286 .661 VS RHH .250 .350 .438 .788 I thought I was angry when I had no stats in front of me at the game. I think Shouse was the right guy to get out of the inning and am in no way saying he shouldn't have been in. But to say that he pulled him for the matchup is a slap in the face to anyone with the internet.
  19. So I went to bed--Angry. I usually wake up in better spirits such as in other, um countries where they sleep. Asia. Such as... Also, when thinking about the, um, such as, strike three call, it made me think of South African maps. South African umpires knew that wasn't, um, a strike. This post is lame. I'm too angry to even come up with anything funny. It's hard to watch a season go DOWN THE CRAPPER.
  20. On WGN, they mentioned Parra left due to a sore thumb. It is possible he hurt his thumb when he popped up that bunt. Yeah--I'm not one to derail a vent but the pitch hit his thumb and The Nedster said it was pretty torn up. My vent: I still care.
  21. Billy? Where have you gone? I miss you. Come back.
  22. Pie is 44% more appealing to me than cake.
  23. Love the new avatar, H4P - especially given the complete one-eighty you pulled (& it symbolizes) from your previous pic. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif It was strictly a mojo thing. I figured I'd catch a little flack for it. It was possibly a little childish frustration. Possibly I love the lineup tonight. Woogie is back. Cards lose. Lefty on the mound. Fairways and greens. Be the ball.
  24. When it's your turn to pitch, you have a job to do just like any other person. That's the key to this entire pitching staff. It's nice to throw blame around but (I may be getting a little jumpy) it felt like Benny came out last night and said, "THERE!" to the whole pitching staff. They say these things are contageous. I think Suppan was on his way to doing that the other night but got a quick hook. Hopefull they'll all pick it up and be accountable.
