  1. What does Blake Perkins being placed on the IL a year ago have to do with DL Hall/Bryan Hudson?
  2. That's the thing he has not done a great job. A leverage RP who has a negative WPA is in fact doing their job poorly. It's also not a higher role than he has ever been in. He has virtually the same leverage index as last year. He's been used pretty much the same. Difference being he was good at his job last year and has not been good at his job this year.
  3. I think Perkins might have gotten hurt yesterday. Have no clue when it would have happened, but was weird that Mitchell replaced him defensively in the 9th inning.
  4. 101 FIP- 100 xFIP- 4.07 xERA 4.08 SIERA 21% K-rate 12% BB-rate -0.16 WPA (worst among RP with 10+ IP) 17 SD to 12 MD 14 of 22 inherited runners have scored for a 36% strand rate Pretty easy to see why people might not like Elvis. His ERA is fine for a middle reliever (which isn't how Murphy uses him), but his ERA doesn't tell the whole story because his peripherals are pretty bad for a RP and him allowing a ton of inherited runners to score doesn't impact his ERA. Edit: A lot of the ire towards Peguero is mostly the fault of Murphy who continues to use him in ways that exacerbate his weaknesses. Peguero struggles with inherited runners and has really struggled throwing strikes to RHH this season, but Murphy keeps bringing him in to face RHH with runners on base.
  5. Find you someone that loves you like Pat Murphy loves Elvis Peguero.
  6. I feel like the Brewers just don't give up that many 3-run HR/grand slams. We have given up 145 HR this year (6th most in the MLB) but only 16 of those HR have been 3 run/grand slams. That's 11% of our HR. Now I don't know how that compares to the rest of the league, but I feel like that feels really low. Is not giving up a lot of 3 run/grand slam HR sustainable? For comparison our offense has hit 126 HR and have 25 3 run/grand slams. That's 20% of our HR.
  7. I wonder if Luis Pena is nursing an injury. Feel like this is the 2nd time in a week he was pinch hit for mid game.
  8. I inserted Perkins because someone incorrectly said Turang is the best defender on the team period. Blake Perkins - 1113 OF innings, 18 DRS, 12.6 UZR, 15 OAA, 15.6 DRP Brice Turang - 1835 2B innings, 30 DRS, 5.1 UZR, 6 OAA, -0.8 DRP Blake Perkins with 1835 OF innings - 30 DRS, 20.8 UZR, 25 OAA, 25.7 DRP Turang isn't even better than Perkins in DRS rate which despite DRS viewing Turang as outlier good compared to all the other defensive metrics
  9. Turang going to the OF and being better than Perkins is a hilarious take. Thank you.
  10. You’re not getting a Top 100 pitching prospect for Hoskins and Milner….
  11. That inning from Misiorowski was seriously impressive. He had a curveball in the dirt, but outside of that basically everything was either in the zone or within an inch of the zone. A few more outings like that and he will be in the Brewers bullpen soon enough.
  12. Craig Yoho and Jacob Misiorowski combine to go 6 up and 6 down in the 6th and 7th innings for Nashville with 5 strikeouts and a 68 EV groundout haha.
  13. Well that's definitely not true. Perkins is the easily the best defender on the team.
  14. Don't think that's obvious.
  15. We've seen everyone in the outfield shift positions for defensive changes. Example Perkins comes in at CF, Frelick slides to RF, Chourio to LF. Other reasons are Ortiz has a better arm and quicker transfer which are very important at the SS position.
  16. Because Ortiz has been the person to slide to SS every time Adames has been removed from a game this year with Turang staying at 2B.
  17. Hope everything is alright with Letson and Birchard. Letson was originally supposed to start Saturday and Birchard on Sunday and now neither are starting this week.
  18. That's largely due to bat path though which you already said. Adames bat path leaves him extremely susceptible to pitches up. Mitchell is another player like that even though his swing is considerably shorter and more compact than Adames and Hoskins. Mitchell just cannot get the bat to pitches up. At this point he's whiffing more than Hiura at upper third and higher pitches. Like with Adames you can pretty visually see a pronounced uppercut in his swing at times. Also just literally speaking a swing on a pitch up will lead to a shorter swing than a pitch down as the barrel just doesn't need to travel as far to reach the impact point. Size probably plays a part as well. Taller player and you likely will have a longer swing. Impact point as well. Adames and Hoskins are both big pull hitters so they want to make contact out in front to pull the ball which leads to a technically longer swing. As opposed to a Frelick or Turang who want to see the ball longer and have a deeper contact point to shoot balls to left center. I don't think Hoskins is great against pitches up. At least this year. The whiff and damage numbers aren't really anything to write home about, but I do agree that he's much better at getting to those pitches than Adames.
  19. Never mentioned launch or attack angle so don't know why you're replying that to me. I was just calling out the blatant lie that Hoskins has a short, compact swing.
  20. Uhhh Hoskins mostly definitely does not have a short, compact swing. He has the 7th longest average swing length in the MLB this year and just marginally shorter than Adames who has the 5th longest swing. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/bat-tracking?attackZone=&batSide=&contactType=&count=&dateStart=&dateEnd=&gameType=&groupBy=&isHardHit=&minSwings=q&minGroupSwings=1&pitchHand=&pitchType=&seasonStart=&seasonEnd=&team=&type=batter&vizX=avg_sweetspot_speed_mph_qualified&vizY=swing_length_qualified&sortColumn=swing_length_qualified&sortDirection=desc
  21. Yeah if Brewers optioned Milner he could reject the option and become a FA
  22. Peguero still has 2 options left. Peguero, Koenig, Myers are the only pitchers on the active roster who have options and are under 5 years service time.
  23. Hall is being activated tomorrow.
  24. Elvis has options so I can't imagine he gets DFA'd. He's certainly a candidate to be optioned though. Just can't see him being DFA'd when guys like Ashby, Herget, Jay, Capra are on the 40-man.
  25. I don't know for sure about Super 2 status, but I think he will be Super 2 which would mean 2 more pre-arb years then 4 years of arbitration. Free agent after the 2030 season. If he's not Super 2 it would mean 3 more pre-arb years then 3 years of arbitration.
