Please note the explicit tag on this one. We mean it." Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "A scary injury to Willy Adames and a bad weekend series against San Francisco clouded a week that nonetheless ended with the Brewers still clinging to first place in the National League Central. Brewers reporter Todd Rosiak and host JR Radcliffe discuss the fallout of losing Adames in such a scary manner. It's the latest injury for the team to navigate, though the team's starting-pitching depth had a good week (we didn't even mention Julio Teheran!). Jesse Winker's struggles have become one of the toughest things for the offense to overcome. Ken Rosenthal said earlier in the week that Corbin Burnes might be the top pitcher available on the trade market; does that sound plausible? Plus, a Remembrew When that looks back at a swift and memorable doubleheader in 1971. Then, JR sits down with one of the hottest hitters in the league, Milwaukee native Owen Miller, who talks about his memories at Miller Park, the surging Wisconsin baseball scene and his role as an opponent in an unforgettable Brewers moment two years ago."
  11. It's admittedly hard not to bring frustration from the big-league Brewers to our daily review of the minor league action. This is supposed to be a safe haven and a distraction from troubles there. That being said, there are over four full months left in the MLB and AAA seasons, over three full months at the lower levels. Heck, the rookie levels haven't even started yet. We've got the MLB draft coming up, which will bring some new college-age faces to the A-ball levels. So much to look forward to, and we'll be here for it. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic TRANSACTIONS: - INF Andruw Monasterio contract selected by MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville (replacing injured Willy Adames) - RHP Jake Cousins recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville - LHP Ethan Small optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers - LHP Alex Claudio (currently at AAA Nashville) designated for assignment - RHP Abner Uribe activated from the AA Biloxi 7-day injured list - C Jason Lopez placed on the AA Biloxi Development List as of May 26 Final: Iowa (Cubs) 5, Nashville 1 Via the Sounds' site, we encourage readers to review each of the affiliate write-ups as part of your season-long Link Report routine: Big Inning Sinks Las Vihuelas - Four-run fourth from Des Moines proves too much in 5-1 loss Pre-Game Media Notes Box Score / Game Log First of all, here's the background on the Sounds' Hispanic alter-identity. Yes, LHP Clayton Andrews allowed a two-run single upon entering the game in the 4th, but the subsequent three scoreless innings he gave Manager Rick Sweet were big. Starting RHP Caleb Boushley's control issues in 2023 have been uncharacteristic. Just playing armchair GM, but if the Brewers were to cut bait on Jesse Winker and plug in Mr. Singleton into the DH spot for the remainder of 2023, it'd be a net positive. It sure would be a lot more fun. The front office did provide him with an offseason 40-man roster spot for a while. Luke Voit only has four plate appearances against LHP's in his rehab stint (0-for-2, two walks). My goodness, do we miss Sal Frelick highlights. Final: Biloxi 10, Montgomery (Rays) 4 Via the Shuckers' site: Rodriguez Sets Career-High with 11 Strikeouts, Shuckers Offense Explodes in 10-4 Win - Shuckers use a five-run second and a four-run seventh to cruise to a win over the Biscuits Pre-Game Media Notes Box Score / Game Log Busy night for the Shuckers from a video perspective, check out the nine clips the team tweeted out on Saturday night via their media feed on the platform. And then MLB Pipeline summarized the evening of a certain top Brewers farmhand, not sure "roped" should have been the go-to word here, but we'll take it. Chourio would be thrown out on his 3rd stolen base attempt, so is now 12-for-13. Carlos Rodriguez doesn't turn 22 years old until November, folks. After walking seven combined in his prior two starts (spanning nine innings), that goose-egg in the base on balls column here is glorious. Run allowed aside, welcome back, Abner Uribe. Biloxi attendance over 3,100? Not via the video. They must be issuing plenty of comp tickets at the MGM Casino that are going sparingly used. A reminder to frequent the archived pre-game interview page - Manager Mike Guerero spoke with Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake Friday, and looking forward to when this is released later on Sunday AM. Final: Cedar Rapids (Twins) 7, Wisconsin 1 Via the Timber Rattlers' site: Rattlers Miss Their Chances and Fall in Cedar Rapids - Wisconsin strands nine and watches Kernels cash in their opportunities Pre-Game Media Notes (Download Link) via the team's Virtual Press Box Box Score / Game Log RHP Max Lazar entered in the 6th and allowed three runs in that frame. If you glossed over or skipped the game summary linked above, go back and revisit the three paragraphs beginning with "The Kernels loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom the sixth inning". Talk about tough breaks for Max. The six K's vs. zero walks for RHP Stiven Cruz was encouraging. Easy math when combining the two Brewer Nicaraguan RHP's on Saturday: Rodriguez / Cruz 17 K's, zero walks. Cruz is actually two weeks older than his compatriot, and still plenty young for High-A! Lineup-wise, this group is pretty much "it is what it is". Eric Brown, Jr., with ten hits in his prior four games, was 0-for-5 here. Robert Moore and his sub-.200 average sat this one out. That's noon Central for many of you that may jump online to catch Voice of the Mudcats Greg Young, Jr. Yes, it's big for Sunday, as the Carolina League standings tell us. Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.Organizational Scoreboard including starting pitcher info, game times, MiLB TV links, and box scoresCurrent Milwaukee Brewers Organization Batting Stats and DepthCurrent Milwaukee Brewers Organization Pitching Stats and Depth View full article

  17. The three longer-form Brewers podcasts that got me through my pre-Memorial Day yardwork (still in catch-up mode): Monday 5/22:Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "The guys discussed a rough road trip, the continued issues against LHP, Willy Adames future, where pitching help might come from and the strangeness of the Trop." Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "The Brewers go 2-4 on a tough road trip and dig out the two wins thanks to some big-time work from Devin Williams and the relief crew. It's the latest in a tough run for the Brewers. Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe look at the dearth of difference-makers and if there are any moves that can realistically ease the burden, the latest injury setbacks (Wade Miley, Luke Voit) and the struggles of Willy Adames (although Sunday turned out to be a great day). It's going to be the Brewers vs. the Cardinals for a playoff spot again, isn't it? Does the addition of Darin Ruf mean Luke Voit's roster spot is in jeopardy? Owen Miller is on fire. Is there any scenario where Jackson Chourio gets to the big leagues in 2023? Plus, a Remembrew When that looks back at the most famous dropped ball in Brewers history. Then, JR is joined by Bally Sports Wisconsin broadcaster Sophia Minnaert, in her 11th year working games for Bally Sports Wisconsin. They chat about her media background, where her renown Spanish skills come from and what makes the baseball gig so special." *** Friday 5/26: Reviewing the Brew's" Cold Brew Podcast: "Co-hosts David Gasper and Matt Carroll discuss the latest in a big stretch of Brewers news. Former All Star Julio Teheran is now in a Brewers uniform and had an excellent debut as the starting rotation is reeling from several more injuries. Some players are on the mend though as Luis Urias has begun a rehab assignment, but once he returns, who gets sent off the roster to make room? It'll be a tough choice as David and Matt work through the options. Also Rob Manfred is in Milwaukee and there are reported threats that the Brewers could relocate if the government doesn't meet their funding obligation for maintenance. How much stock should we put in these threats?"
