  2. All ten infielders listed at shortstops. All five outfielders listed as center fielders. Those practice games in the D.R. and Venezuela must have interesting defensive layouts,

  7. As first reported here: And then available in reported article form here, if your browser supports translation: 28-year-old RHP Pedro Fernandez was a Kansas City Royal farmhand from 2012 through 2018, after which he qualified for minor league free agency. In those seven seasons, which topped out at AAA Omaha, Fernandez appeared in 150 games, 64 as a starter, posting a 3.50 ERA and 1.234 WHIP. The native of the Dominican Republic would pitch in the offensively charged Mexican League in 2019 (13 appearances, five of them starts), struggling to an 8.27 ERA. Fernandez did not pitch in 2020 (understandable), nor 2021, before resurfacing back in Mexico this past season, where he pitched well enough with Tigres de Quintana Roo, leading the entire league in strikeouts, making 17 starts (4.42 ERA). Likely also catching the Brewers eye, Fernandez has made ten starts with a 2.50 ERA in Dominican Winter Ball and made the winter league All-Star Team with Gigantes del Cibao. He continues to pitch with them in the league's postseason round robin. Need video? How about very recent video? Via MLB Film Room, a good luck at Fernandez' pitch mix in a six-inning start highlight package from January 4th in the DWL.
  8. With a bit of help from MLB Trade Rumors, let's see if we can list those eight MKE-SEA deals in the Jerry DiPoto era. DiPoto joined Seattle for the 2015-16 offseason, so this timeline lines up nicely with the David Stearns - Matt Arnold regime. 11/20/15 - Brewers acquired OF Ramon Flores in exchange for INF Luis Sardinas 12/09/15 - Brewers acquired RHPs Freddy Peralta, Carlos Herrera and Daniel Missaki in exchange for 1B Adam Lind 12/21/18 - Brewers acquired OF Ben Gamel and RHP Noah Zavolas in exchange for OF Domingo Santana 04/14/19 - Brewers acquired C David Freitas in exchange for RHP Sal Biasi 12/05/19 - Brewers acquired C Omar Narvaez in exchange for RHP Adam Hill and a Competitive Balance Draft pick (became RHP Connor Phillips) 05/02/21 - Acquired C Jacob Nottingham in exchange for cash considerations 12/02/22 - Brewers acquired OF/DH Jesse Winker and INF Abraham Toro in exchange for 2B Kolten Wong 01/07/23 - Brewers acquired RHP Joseph Hernandez in exchange for RHP Justin Topa

  14. First, a link to the 2022 Post All-Star Break Transaction Thread The first transaction of 2023 has merited a thread of its own, which is fine, as we'd prefer this thread to focus almost solely on the transaction notations themselves. OF Lamar Sparks Signed out of Pioneer (MLB Indy Partner) League
  15. Monday 1/2: Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "The guys discussed what it means that the Brewers are the only MLB team yet to sign a major league free agent, what they still might do, what they need to do, what we think they should do and Craig Counsell's future." *** Tuesday 1/3: Via Locked on Brewers: "Five BOLD predictions for the Brewers in 2023 Via 97.3's Drew & KB: "Tim Allen starts "The Winter Meetings" show tonight and joined the show to talk about it" Via 97.3 the Game: "Tim Allen is back talking Brewers Baseball in the first Winter Meetings Show of the year"

  17. Article analyzes catchers in the Pirates' system: Samuel Escudero also had a great season at the DSL. Like Plaz, he received less than 100 plate appearances, amounting to just 94, but he made the most of it. He collected a total of 21 hits while drawing more walks (16) than strikeouts (14). The only downside is that he didn’t hit for much power, with just five doubles and zero home runs. Escudero will be 19 next season and could be a nice steal from the Milwaukee Brewers. The Pirates acquired Escudero from the Brewers in exchange for Troy Stokes Jr.
  18. July 7, 2016 Milwaukee Brewers traded 3B Aaron Hill and cash to Boston Red Sox for 2B Wendell Rijo and RHP Aaron Wilkerson. June 16, 2018: Rijo, still just 27, reached free agency this fall, but has re-signed with his 2022 organization, Philadelphia. He spent 2021 in Braves system and has been a Dominican Winter Ball staple. 838 minor league games, only 43 at the AAA level (all in 2019 with NYY).
