  1. Fortunately, we have these little things called "Link Reports". You may be familiar with them, Joseph 🤣
  2. This thread will be utilized for any minor league news Sunday. Organizational Scoreboard Audio Links MiLB TV (Subscribers)
  3. It should be a rule that a perfect 4-0 day for the affiliates automatically negates and reverses any struggles on the big-league stage. Alas, obviously that's not the case. We are reminded over and over that the main focus at the minor league level is player development, but heck yeah, winning every game on the menu doesn't hurt! Although, someone who is hurting this Sunday morning (hopefully not too much) is Cooper Pratt down in Biloxi. Read on for a very eventful Link Report edition! UPDATE on Pratt via Adam McCalvy is in the reply to this entry below. Thanks Adam! Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: N/A Final: Nashville 3, Durham (Rays) 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Logan Henderson Spins Quality Start as Sounds Take Series Lead - Wes Clarke and Anthony Seigler Go Back-to-Back on Saturday Night Yes, we know what you're thinking - Logan Henderson could have been pitching in St. Louis on five days' rest instead of in Nashville. So, he's on the same schedule as Quinn Priester, and Henderson will have spent the requisite ten option days in AAA should Matt Arnold choose to swap the two pitchers before their next starts. Just saying...the big-league start would be home vs. the Cubs, by the way. Please, please, please click on the game summary above and read the "Postgame Notes" sub-section titled "GO LO". Somehow, we didn't get any Henderson video on this night, but 78 pitches (53 strikes, yee-hah) and the massively impressive six-inning box score line are all very real. Thank goodness for this, as it was a very light offensive performance otherwise. Andruw Monasterio singled, walked and stole his 4th base in five tries. The Vinny Capra (0-for-28) watch is real. Monasterio is 9-for-20 with four walks. Elvin Rodriguez and Tyler Jay combined to squeeze in more walks, balks, wild pitches, HBP's and drama in the final three innings than Henderson had in his pristine six, but in the end, got the job done. Remember when the Brewers traded for an injured Trevor Rosenthal at the 2022 deadline, sending OF Tristan Peters off the Wisconsin roster to San Francisco? Peters was traded again three months later to Tampa and has been playing vs. the Sounds in this series. The former Pipeline Top 30 player with Milwaukee has a career .263/.355/.414 line (.769 OPS), perfectly suitable but not enough for a big-league look as of yet. Final: Biloxi 6, Montgomery (Rays) 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers' website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Warren, Adams Back-to-Back Home Runs Lead Shuckers to Series Win over Biscuits - Shuckers earn back-to-back six-game series wins for first time since 2023 Shuckers earn back-to-back six-game series wins for first time since 2023? Boy, we really did sit through a whole bunch of middling average Biloxi results in 2024, didn't we? Very nice that this group has reached the .500 mark after its 1-7 start, and the team is performing just as well at the plate and in the field as on the mound during its sweet stretch. What's that, you say? Let's just have back-to-back blasts within every Brewers farm team game the rest of 2025. Sure, why not. The Shuckers "X" feed provides those taters and more in its usual fine collection. Now, let's form a Sunday morning prayer circle and hope for the best - 23-year-old RH starter Alexander Cornielle's WHIP remains below 1.00 at 0.96, and we'll mention the 0.51 ERA through four starts while we're at it. Throw in the 22 K's in 17.2 innings. That is how you promote a young pitcher at the right time - three starts in Wisconsin to end 2022, then two full seasons still with the Timber Rattlers (42 games, 38 of them starts). It's paying off now, just one walk in this game. LH reliever Mark Manfredi did a nice job stranding two inherited runners in the 8th for fellow southpaw Josh Maciejewski, but as a I watched live, could not close things out, walking four in the 9th, forcing Chase Costello in for the final out, which Costello ably got on a 3-1 groundout for his 6th career save. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 4, Cedar Rapids (Twins) 2 Box Score and Game Log Pérez Powers Wisconsin Past Kernels - Rattlers win third straight game with late surge Having just turned 22 years old this month, Hedbert Perez still teases us with what could be if he could just stay healthy for a full season, doesn't he? We need to see a lot more, but it's in there. The T-Rats reached base a dozen times, and a full quarter of those were by 1B Blake Burke (three singles, walk). The early OBP is at .375, and the increased SLG should come soon. The pitching performances were pretty eclectic, if not always electric. RH starter Tyson Hardin's 4th outing was not as dominant as those prior, allowing eight baserunners over four innings, including two doubles, but limited the damage to the two Kernels runs. The scoreless ball that followed via the three relievers covering the final five frames included two more doubles against Aidan Maldanado (by the same two Cedar Rapids batters who doubled against Hardin). Maldonado maintained his pure 0.00 ERA. As noted in the linked game summary, you'll see three HBP's for Patricio Aquino within a matter of four batters in the 7th. The "electric" part came from Yerlin Rodriguez' shut-the-door 9th. There is so much Abner Uribe in Rodriguez, from nearly every perspective. Enjoy three additional Wisconsin highlights from this road game here. If interested in the base hits that drove in runs vs. Hardin, look here. Final: Carolina 11, Columbia 10 Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Turn Back Columbia The Mudcats snap their four-game skid to improve to 14-6. Among those 14 victories are games they have won by scores of: 9-8 14-0 9-2 10-9 8-6 11-10 10-1 10-1 8-0 11-10 Their losses include scores of: 12-11 10-4 Win or lose, home or away, you'll see plenty of action when you purchase that ticket. Luis Pena remains sidelined, Braylon Payne had the night off, yet double-digit offense still prevailed. It's unrelenting, and the rest of the order wasn't bad at all, but the top three of Jesus Made, Marco Dinges, and Josh Adamczewski reached base a combined eleven times, including all five trips for Dinges. Filippo Di Turi was a home run shy of a cycle. Luiyin Alastre smacked three hits, including a double. Demetrio Nadal, Reece Walling, and Blayberg Diaz all reached base twice. The only name I haven't mentioned yet, Eric Bitonti, drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Good times. The early pitching was to be polite, not ideal. 19-year-old Nicaragua native Bryan Rivera's 4th appearance (2nd start) was his most uneven, though two of the four runs he allowed were unearned. 6'6" LHP Caden Vire did not have any command in only his second outing after a long injury layoff. After five innings of scoreless ball in his first three outings, RHP Jack Seppings has been scored upon in each of his most recent three appearances. That brings us to Rivera's fellow countryman, 18-year-old Melvin Hernandez, and it's clear the Brewers know what they have in this youngster who has been aggressively placed based on age in his brief career. What a glorious 66-pitch effort to span the final five innings of a tight, tight game for a much-deserved win. Once the Muddies scored two in the top of the 5th for the lead, neither team plated a run the rest of the way. Fans in Columbia saw a slugfest and a pitchers' duel all within the same nine innings! There are a couple more Carolina highlights here, and I can appreciate how the Fireflies social admin summed things up from their perspective: You'll see four exciting starters listed for the good guys on the linked scoreboard below. It's all afternoon action, although the Carolina game is staggered late. Have a great Sunday! 5. Saturday 4/26: Postgame Shows after the 6-5 loss in St. Louis: 97.3 The Game with Tim Allen and crew WTMJ with Dom Cotroneo - Craig Coshun is Dom's guest
  6. Actually Pratt was getting a partial rest day today as the designated hitter, so no appearance in the field. The HBP was in the 3rd inning and was on a 94 MPH heater that got him on his hands. The camera work live and on replay were both outstanding, as was Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake’s game call. The pitch seemed to get both of Pratt’s hands though his right hand took the brunt of things. Pratt, a RH-hitter, was checked by the training staff and took first base but was shaking his right hand throughout. With Brock Wilken up next, Pratt (wearing the standard baserunning oven mitt on his left hand), would steal second base a few pitches into Wilken’s at-bat. Interestingly Pratt stole with a feet-first slide. Pratt was very clearly still shaking his right hand after getting back to his feet. Wilken lined a double to left on a 3-2 pitch, scoring Pratt easily. There was no shot of Pratt going into the dugout. When catcher Ramon Rodriguez pinch-hit for Pratt in the 5th, Javik Blake noted that Pratt was not up on the dugout railing or visible. It is quite possible that Pratt later emerged from the clubhouse, but I have only watched the sequence described above from the game’s MILB.TV archive - a 6-1 Biloxi victory. It is also possible Javik may have been provided an in-game update and commented, however that is very rare on the minor league front. Sophia Minnaert can’t be everywhere! Pratt’s HBP AB took place at the 01:54:00 hour/minute mark of the archive available for subscribers on the MiLB.com app. Worth noting is that the Biloxi roster is so extremely thin at this time that the only remaining position player on the bench is catcher Victor Torres, who has yet to make as much as a single appearance in a game this season, effectively serving as the bullpen catcher while maintaining an active roster spot.

  9. The won-loss script has flipped a bit, as evidenced by the formerly 13-2 Carolina squad now sitting on a 13-6 record. It was an exciting Friday night elsewhere across the board, as victories for Nashville, Biloxi and Wisconsin were each well-earned and had a distinct flavor of their own. Let's see how, shall we? Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: INF/OF Eric Brown Jr. placed on AA Biloxi’s 7-day injured list, retroactive to April 24 C David Garcia placed on High-A Wisconsin’s 7-day injured list, retroactive to April 24 Final: Nashville 8, Durham (Rays) 5 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Nashville Powers Past Durham to Even Series It was a nice day of rest for the bullpen as RHP Deivi Garcia and LHP Bruce Zimmerman navigated through nine frames. Andruw Monasterio was on base four times, there's no word that he was on the plane to St. Louis with Daz Cameron, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he joined the Crew in Chicago this coming week for the White Sox series. Monasterio doubled, singled twice, and stole two bases in this game. Ernesto Martinez last played on Tuesday as he sits with his right thumb injury. Does catcher Jorge Alfaro have any kind of opt-out built into his minor league deal? For the Brewers sake, hopefully not (sorry, Jorge). The man has been a beast and would certainly catch the eye of any number of big-league clubs. You'll find Daz Cameron's parting shot to Nashville (at least for now) and a nice grab by LF Adam Hall at the Sounds "X" feed. Final: Biloxi 8, Montgomery (Rays) 6 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers' website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Five-Run Eighth, Miller's 4-RBI Night Leads Shuckers to Comeback Win - Teams combine for 14 runs, 25 hits and seven extra-base hits Latest Biloxi Pre-Game Interview Archives Sometimes you see the linescore, box score, and game summary, view the various posted highlights, and realize this would have been one heck of a game to view in person. This is one of those games, though oddly, the box doesn't contain an attendance figure. I'm not sold on the RHP Abdiel Mendoza experience quite yet, as the former Athletic-Ranger-Blue Jay farmhand by way of a trade, minor league Rule 5, and then minor league free agency to Milwaukee this past January has a 2.23 WHIP in his four Shuckers starts, but it seems he'll continue to be plugged in to rotation work for now. Ten baserunners in five innings here actually dropped his WHIP, but only two runs allowed were a plus. Mendoza will be 27 in September. With Eric Brown, Jr. landing on the IL with a for-now undisclosed injury, the Shuckers have a one-man bench (catcher Victor Torres has yet to play in 2025 although he's on the active roster). On Friday, struggling outfielder Bladimir Restituyo occupied the one bench spot as catcher Ramon Rodriguez was the designated hitter. Wonder if a certain Timber Rattlers second baseman who rightly earned a AA-level opportunity based on his work last summer might be up soon? What do you think, Jadher Areinamo? The five-run Shuckers 8th alone would have been worth the price of admission. The Biloxi "X" feed, to borrow Voice of the Shuckers' Javik Blake's keyword, is "fun", be sure to check out that timeline. Javik's call and Ethan Murray's reaction to his triple got me fired up. Maybe it's just the nature of the Southern League, but when an offense is clicking, entertainment is off the charts. When pitchers are rightly owed their due, that's fine, but it's a bit of a slog. It's nice for our eyes when a bit of AA Texas League pop makes its way to these humid outposts. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 1, Cedar Rapids (Twins) 0 Box Score and Game Log Letson & Three Relievers Shut Out Kernels for 1-0 Win - Rattler starter worked 5-1/3 scoreless for first Midwest League win Given all the praise just heaped on an exciting Biloxi game above, one might think I'm sour on this contest overall, but gloriously, no way. Chris Mehring does a nice job of describing the pitching tension throughout in the linked summary, giving props to all four hurlers. In his age 20 season, RHP Bishop Letson has fanned 17 while walking only three over 16.1 innings. Get excited, folks. The organization simply needs healthy position player bodies at this point. The Rattlers' lone non-catcher bench bat for this game, Daniel Guilarte, was called upon when shortstop Eduardo Garcia exited in the bottom of the 6th. I reviewed the MiLB TV archive - Manager Victor Estevez was discussing his lineup card with the home plate umpire as the swap took place but there was absolutely no evidence on that portion of the broadcast of what may have occurred with Garcia. If Eduardo is going to be absent for any length of time, that's going to be a problem. It certainly would add a layer of not-so-fast to the Areinamo promotion theory I floated above. My prediction for May and June - once the various independent leagues begin play across the country in earnest, look for the Brewers to sign position players off to strong starts. This would be an alternative to jumping the gun on promotions, allowing for the teenage talent in the system to better percolate at appropriate levels while still in the season's first half. The T-Rats won despite having only four hits, all singles, though five walks. Catcher Matt Wood had two of the base knocks and one of the free passes. We love that Chris Mehring is providing Friday audio updates with Estevez, and Ryan Birchard does a wonderful job on this interview, be sure to check it out. Final, Game One: Columbia (Royals) 10, Carolina 4, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Final, Game Two: Columbia 3, Carolina 2, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Swept in Doubleheader at Columbia It was nice to see OF Demetrio Nadal return to action in the nightcap (last played on the 16th), though 0-for-3 with a K. That's because Game One saw yet another mid-game exit by a Mudcat position player, this time Luis Pena, who was the designated hitter. I was watching this late afternoon start live, and this is what I posted in our "as it happens" thread: "Luis Pena reached on a fielder’s choice groundout in the final inning of the 10-4 Game One loss, The camera didn’t catch it well, but it’s leg related, it seems." Our live threads have been a bit sparse this week - that'll happen when there's the NFL draft, NBA playoffs, and a warranted break for our Link Reporter Joseph. Look for the volume to spike there again starting Tuesday, although the Friday thread did contain some nuggets of interest, including catcher Marco Dinges' defensive successes and a rough night in left field for Luiyin Alastre. Do check it out. Home runs for infielder Filippo Di Turi in 501 at-bats prior to 2025: 1. Home runs for Di Turi in 63 at-bats this season: 3. Dinges had a heck of a doubleheader. While his defense shined in the opener, he singled, walked, and did this in the nightcap, congrats on pro HR Uno: Second baseman Josh Adamczewski reached base four times in seven plate appearances Friday, because he's freakin' Josh Adamczewski, now sporting a .375/.481/.594 line. He doesn't turn 20 until next month. The 13-6 Mudcats remain in first place by a game, but men, we can end that four-game losing streak any time now, thanks. How much would you have paid to have seen hulking Eric Bitonti behind the dish? Sadly, the listed Game Two lineup didn't exactly come to pass: There are three Fireflies highlights on their "X' feed should you wish to see how some of the opponent efforts went. Exciting Wisconsin starting pitcher Tyson Hardin is in afternoon action today, opposite the parent club's game in St. Louis. Otherwise, the three other squads face off in Saturday evening action. 11. As much fun as it would have been to see Yannic Walther in LF (didn't happen, he caught), the notion of 6'4" Eric Bitonti behind the dish (as listed here) would have been amazing.
  12. Another Carolina game, another position player injury exit. Luis Pena reached on a fielder’s choice groundout in the final inning of the 10-4 Game One loss, The camera didn’t catch it well, but it’s leg related, it seems.
  13. Home plate ump for Game One, not the first game we’ve seen her behind the plate this season. Kudos!
  14. There’s been a bunch of parent-club recent defensive play in this Carolina Game One.
