  2. Brandon Woodruff's Nashville teammates supported his effort with nice performances all around. The Shuckers and Mudcats continue to offset outstanding results (Carolina) with well, not (Biloxi). The Wisconsin game foreshadowed what we experienced as Brewer fans later in the evening. Let's dig in to Saturday's action! Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: Biloxi Shuckers placed RHP Tyler Woessner on the 7-day injured list retroactive to April 11, 2025. LHP Brian Fitzpatrick assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Final: Nashville 6, Memphis (Cardinals) 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Woodruff Strikes Out Five in First Rehab Start - Ernesto Martnez Jr. Collects Four RBI as Sounds Down Redbirds The affiliates are incorporating more video in their game summaries, saves us from having to double-up on them here (and makes sure you read them). Look for the double-view of Ernesto's blast there. We'll go to Dom Cotroneo's WTMJ postgame show from Saturday night, as Dom hits all the key notes in his seven-minute audio analysis regarding Nashville names of note at the 36:00-minute mark. From Brandon Woodruff to Caleb Durbin to Craig Yoho's service time implications and Martinez, Dom doesn't miss a beat. I'm a Journal-Sentinel subscriber, so I'm not sure if their site allows at least one free article for non-subscribers, but Curt Hogg's article dive into Woodruff's evening is well worth your time if you're able. The Vinny Capra watch continues - As for Yoho, it would be almost shocking if we don't see him in Milwaukee on Monday. If he pitches for the Sounds on Sunday, clearly that scenario is off. Heck, Craig may be at the Nashville airport this morning. Here's something to watch Sunday. Why would Rick Sweet pinch-hit for catcher Jorge Alfaro with the bases loaded and one out in the 5th, and with fellow RH bat Freddy Zamora? Zamora came up big with a groundball single to the right side, scoring two, for his first base knock of the season. For MiLB.TV subscribers, you can pull up the archive at the 02:39:20 hour/minute mark. Like Voice of the Sounds Jeff Hem noted at the time, "hopefully everything is OK with Alfaro". If not, Development List catcher Ty Duvall would need to be placed on the active roster to back up Anthony Seigler on Sunday. Box score devotees, pay homage to the quartet of relievers who followed Woody. Scoreless efforts for all, but that's not unusual for the Sounds bullpen in 2025. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes (in glorious "King Cakes" purple) Final: Columbus (Braves) 8, Biloxi 3 Box Score and Game Log Brown Extends Hit Streak to 7 in Shuckers Loss - First inning grand slam proves to be the difference in an 8-3 loss to Clingstones Friday Pre-Game Audio Interview with Manager Joe Ayrault Saturday Pre-Game Audio Interview with 3B Brock Wilken The Shuckers had 11 baserunners and Eric Brown Jr.'s third double of the season provided two-out 5th inning hope. The Shuckers are always anxious to provide positive video vibes, but the fact that Brown's double was the only featured highlight pretty much sums things up. Brock Wilken had the only other Biloxi XBH, as he doubled and singled, now 10-for-25 with ten K's as he fanned in his other two AB's. LHP Nate Peterson walked 42 in 92.2 innings in 2024 (4.1 BB/9), and the six free passes in this one were clearly less than ideal. Peterson walked four of the first five batters he faced and yet was one pitch away from a scoreless inning thanks to an earlier GIDP. Then the Clingstones borrowed Javik Blake's call for their media feed - That screenshot above again demonstrates the seismic tilt in Biloxi. Is it me, or does one simply have to walk over to the center field camera well, lift and correct the viewfinder, and everything is fixed? I promise you that the Link Report staff is looking for ways to accent positivity with the Shuckers. Luke Adams got his official first HBP back in the books. With that he reached base twice, as did RF Bladimir Restituyo and catcher Ramon Rodriguez, so there you go. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Quad Cities (Royals) 5, Wisconsin 4, 11 innings Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Suffer Heartbreak Down by the River - Welch pitches a gem for Wisconsin but Quad Cities scores four in eleventh to walkoff Timber Rattlers What was that, "Down by the River?" OK, did Chris Mehring have that in mind when he posted the headline? I'm guessing yes. I immediately went to the Timber Rattlers' radio feed for this road contest upon seeing Wisconsin grab the 4-1 lead heading to the bottom of the 11th. So, confirming I was among those who watched and or listened to both of the combined final inning meltdowns of the T-Rats and their parent club Saturday night. Knowing Chris, he had a big-league late-night feed going as well. Opposite of good, as we like to say. Talk about drama. The game summary well encapsulates the escape artist evening it was - up to a point. Do we enjoy sharing opposing walk-off rallies, no we do not. But if Chris and I had to endure it, well, you can also. RHP Chandler Welch turned 22 in March. The 2024 6th round pick out of Tulane bounced back in a big way from his season debut start six days prior. This was only Welch's third pro appearance (one brief start with Carolina last September). Welch allowed two doubles and one single in six innings, didn't walk a batter, and K'd seven. RHP Aaron Rund turns 26 in June. The Brewers don't allow age to factor into their relief pitcher analyses. As you've surely seen if you're a regular follower of the organization - starting pitchers young, relievers not so young. Rund was very serviceable in a part-time closer role with Wisconsin in 2024, with a 1.21 WHIP. This was not his night, however. LF Yhoswar Garcia now has more stolen bases (three) than hits (1-for-22, 0 BB, 7 K). Blake Burke sat one out for the first time this season. Final: Carolina 4, Myrtle Beach (Cubs) 3 Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Claim Series from Myrtle Beach The four Brewer affiliates are a combined one game under .500 in 2025. The 1-7 Shuckers and 7-1 Mudcats offset (thank you, Muddies!), while the Sounds are 7-6 and the Rattlers 3-5. You'll find three Mudcat video highlights at their "X" feed, including Marco Dinges' two-RBI single and Braylon Payne's clutch go-ahead sacrifice fly late. The Mudcats are deep enough in talent that a notable player is getting rest on any particular day. Saturday was Eric Bitonti's turn. Bitonti's OPS sits at .901. It's early - in fact, it's super-early, but behold that box score OPS column. In his two Dominican Summer League seasons, LF Demetrio Nadal was 50-for-63 in SB attempts. He missed all of 2024 and jumped Maryvale to join Carolina this year and is now 5-for-6 in theft tries. Is it worth revisiting 21-year-old catcher Dinges' remarkable backstory? You bet: From June 2024: Marco Dinges battles through rare illness last year before joining FSU baseball Last year, Marco Dinges was fighting for his life in the hospital after being diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis. A year later he joins FSU baseball in the College World Series. The Brewers surely looked at that resiliency as a positive factoring into their 4th round selection last July. University of Kentucky. Oklahoma State. Brown University. Three 22-year-olds (RHP Travis Smith, LHP Sam Garcia, and undrafted RHP Jack Seppings) combined on the five-hitter, one BB, nine K. This was just the 2nd pro appearance for each of Smith and Garcia, the 6th outing going back to last season for Seppings. It's early-to-mid-afternoon action at the higher levels, while Myrtle Beach forces the Mudcats to stick around on getaway evening with a 6:05 local time start (5:05 Central). 6. All four Brewers affiliates will experience Eastern Time Zone baseball over the course of the season. Only the Carolina Mudcats are based in the east and play all their games within. So, for this east coast Minor League Link Reporter, it was a shock to the system to be engrossed in simultaneously viewing of two ballgames as the midnight hour approached - understandably the big-league parent club at the Diamondbacks, but also the young Mudcats, up well past their bedtimes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. That's what an opening Carolina rain delay of an hour and eleven minutes plus a wild 12-inning game (a victory!) will do. Let's track how Friday evening played out! Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: LHP Jose Quintana recalled to MLB Brewers from ACL Brewers RHP Elvis Peguero optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers The organization continues to assign players from the January 2025 international signing class to one or the other of their two Dominican Summer League teams. These assignments are dribbling out randomly and are purely paper transactions for the time being. Are you wondering when the complex league rookies begin their seasons? The Link Report staff looks forward to the box scores, but not necessarily the overnight typing ?. The Maryvale kids open on Saturday May 3rd. The Dominican Summer League schedule has yet to post. In 2024, the DSL began play on June 3rd. Final: Nashville 7, Memphis (Cardinals) 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Rodriguez, Cameron Shine in Friday Night Win - Rodriguez Carried Perfect Game into the Sixth, Cameron Homers in First Two At-Bats It would have been oh-so-easy to toss "Dazz-ling Debut" into the title of this report. Cue the Britney Spears "Oops, He Did It Again" music - Cameron was also hit by a pitch, but it was leading off the 8th, so seemingly not any petty retribution. The offense reached base 16 times via eight hits (four for extra bases including the Jorge Alfaro blast you saw in the linked game summary above), seven walks, and said HBP. CF Jared Oliva joined Cameron in the multiple base knock club and added his 7th stolen base in as many tries. Alfaro was the designated hitter as Anthony Seigler rolls on with a .900 OPS over nine games uniquely and almost evenly split between second base and catcher. That versatility for the 25-year-old could find a future MLB home, for sure. Caleb Durbin (five of 11 hits for extra bases, .289 OBP) sat for the 2nd time this season. Any absence will have Brewers fans considering a call-up given Vinny Capra's early struggles. Speaking of a call-up: If we don't see Yoho either Saturday or Sunday, that would indicate a strong possibility of a Milwaukee call-up on Monday when the Crew returns to Am-Fam vs. Detroit. So sorry, Carlos Rodriguez, for waiting this long to highlight your stellar start. Please revert back to the Sounds' game summary as they properly extoll the work of all four moundsmen on this night. I will say that not only is Carlos Rodriguez just 23 years old, but he won't be 24 until November. He maintains a ton of value to the organization and thus around the league. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Columbus (Braves) 7, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Wilken Tallies 2nd Career Multi-Homer Game in Shuckers Loss - Hunt strikes out 5 in 2025 home debut, Shuckers fall 7-2 to Clingstones A reminder to catch up on all of this week's pre-game interviews via Javik Blake here. I will always contend that all the various audio we are provided adds a super-worthwhile and enjoyable level of fandom well beyond any box score scrutinization and Statcast analysis. On the new "Clingstones" identity of the Atlanta AA franchise, I can't help but hearken to my childhood, what a blessing it was to grow up in the Hanna-Barbera animation prime. Brock Wilken asked Daz Cameron to hold his beer, as you'll see here and here. Organizational Co-Pitcher of 2024 KC Hunt allowed only five baserunners over five innings in a solid bounceback from his initial effort first-inning exit. Southpaw Mark Manfredi did not allow anything described as a line drive in his four-run 6th inning, but four runs is four runs and the game was effectively put away at that point. Old friend Carlos D. Rodriguez singled and walked, now 10-for-25 (.400, .467 OBP). Please place this man in AAA, Alex Anthopoulos. Darrien Miller and Luke Adams are a combined 2-for-42, both hits belonging to Adams, though they've reached an additional nine times via walk or HBP. (Thought for sure Adams had tied Miller in the HBP department with one earlier, but his stat page says otherwise). The Shuckers only reached base six times on the night, with Wilken able to cruise during his time on the basepaths. Take some additional BP off of Dino like Fred above, guys. Hang in there... Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Quad Cities (Royals) 2, Wisconsin 1 Box Score and Game Log Quad Cities Swipes a Win from Wisconsin - Letson strikes out eight in five innings, but Bandits score late for the victory How mightily convenient is the timing of this profile feature via Kyle Lobner! Kyle does a tremendous job with those pieces. Be sure to catch the nearly two full minutes of Letson highlights within the linked game summary above. It was 60 degrees at gametime in Davenport, Iowa, so the weather can't necessarily be the blame for the continued offensive struggles, with only seven Wisconsin baserunners in the contest. Beyond Letson's performance, the Timber Rattlers highlight on this night was this new addition to Chris Mehring's informational arsenal: The half-hour listen includes Manager Victor Estevez sharing a cool story about telling Yophery Rodriguez that he was traded to Boston, and the young man's reaction. Find time during your Saturday errand-running to tune in. Final: Carolina 10, Myrtle Beach (Cubs) 9, 12 innings Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Beat Myrtle Beach in Extra Innings Whew! Let's begin by asking what Jesus Made does to his wrist while rounding the bases - be careful, kid! The Mudcats aren't the most detailed in their game summaries, however the team admins have really stepped up their social media video game, even for road contests. You'll find a whopping eight clips via their "X" feed. It was 5-3 Mudcats after one inning, tied at 5-5 after two frames, and then the contest was scoreless until the 8th, so this was a pretty unique linescore all the way through the 12th. Those five scoreless innings from the Carolina mound were courtesy of Tanner Gillis, the undrafted free agent signing out of Western Kentucky and the MLB Draft League in only his 2nd pro appearance. This is Gillis' age 24 season, so he'll be in Appleton at some point soon. Here's a video reminder that recently-turned 19-year-old RHP Bryce Meccage (2024 2nd round, 57th overall) did not allow a single hit in his senior high school season last spring. As fantastic as Meccage's pro debut was last Saturday, he was not able to escape the first inning here. It's a humbling game sometimes. The Mudcats managed 19 baserunners in the 12 innings even with Braylon Payne and Filippo Di Turi sitting this one out. Sometimes a box score deserves your magnifying glass for review, and this one, with Carolina having 27 (!) at-bats with runners in scoring position is one of those times. Now of course, the Manfred man and three extra innings added to that total. Your reminder that each day we kick off a Forum Thread that begins with any various news updates from the farm, and morphs into an "as-it-happens" commentary, often punctuated with good tidbits. Here was Friday's entry should you wish to review. It's all evening action on the farm Saturday, and we get Brandon Woodruff in Nashville! Yes!
