  1. I agree, they probably could have done better than Biel. It was probably those pants she had on at the end http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. I saw The Illusionist last night as well, and I loved it. Simple, subtle, avoided cliche, and didn't spell everything out for the viewer. I loved the music as well. Have to disagree there. Motivation would be lacking without the love story IMO.
  3. Glenn Braggs was 6'3" 210lbs. Not small by any means, and definitely huge for the day; but by todays standards, not all that big. One of my favorite "bored at my parent's house" activities is to look through my old baseball cards and pick out people who I thought were "huge" and compare their size to post steroid/year round workout guys. For example, Brady clark is 6'2" 207lbs. George Canale was one of my favorite Brewer farmhands.
  4. Not sure exactly what that means, but I did use paypal, and my contribution is on the list...
  5. I am confused also by this thread also, who is thunnis? Seemingly a trusted source? What about his arch-enemy poster? Joe-schmo?
  6. good point, end. I forgot about Vargas.
  7. 1. Suppan, but go no higher 2. Carlos- I think he's earned a shot. 3. Only sign one of those "other guys" if the price is right (low)
  8. Are you talking about his weight? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Yes, the prospect of facing Pujols all year sounds VERY intriguing! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I've felt from the beginning that Suppan is slightly overpriced because of the market, but that I hope he signs because he'd make the team better, but that I don't like our chances of signing him. Those chances have gone up since we have made an offer, but I still think he will find more money from a more competitive team in the next week.
  10. The real question, again, is why the heck did we draft him in the 1st round if no pro scouts thought his mechanics were right? Let another team sort out his mechanics, or take him in a less costly/risky slot.
  11. Or they could not take pitchers in the first round that need major mechanical overhauls.
  12. I wonder what the most viewed thread in bf.net history was.
  13. I really like reading this guy's stuff. Not a bad writer, and he breaks things down really well. He seems like a good guy too, I'm glad the Brewers have him. Thanks for posting this!
  14. Seems to be fixed today, whatever it was. Thanks for the spanish help!
  15. Well, that's a relief. Now I know I that when I am lost in Mexico I can rely on that correctly pronounced phrase to pull me through.
  16. I asked a friend to teach me the most useless spanish phrase he could think of, so it acually was a dress.....a dress of silk (deseta?). SBCYahoo DSL for me---maybe they're trying to convince me to upgrade http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif .
  17. mi padre me compro un vestido deseta. Not sure how it applies here (or if it is even close to the correct spelling), but it's the only spanish I know. I figured it wasn't just me, because it's only the board, and it's only very recently. Thanks for the responses. I'll wait it out.
  18. I have a fast DSL connection and I've been experiencing very slow load times whenever I try to go into the message board, forums, or try to view any threads for the past 2 days. The main page is loading fine, and I'm not experiencing any problems with other sites. Just me, coincidence, temporary, or problem?
  19. Everyone's favorite Davey Lopes is the first base coach for Nationals staff now. Congrats! Lopes
  20. Could you put one on the homepage? If not opening day, maybe to spring training? I always like those for things I look forward to. I suppose I could make my own, but that would be no fun. Also, I'm too lazy to do it.
  21. I agree that it is very situational. If a team is crafted from the ground up in the A's/Red Sox mold, bunting is almost always a bad idea. For many reasons those teams have had success with their philosophies. As Danzig said, for the teams that don't have stacked lineups, "should bunt" situations come up more often due to more poor hitters in the lineup. In an answer to a question in the other thread, I believe bunting is an essential fundamental because a) it's relatively easy to learn and teach, i.e. wouldn't take up too much of your practice time to become proficient at it. (at least I never found it difficult...then again, Randy Johnson wasn't throwing at me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif ) and b) even the best hitting team may be in a situation where they need that one run to win the game, or get an advantage in a pitcher's duel. Sac's and squeezes are a nice option in that spot. For pitchers and bad hitters it is absolutely essential.
  22. I don't really see it as "doctrinaire" he hasn't blown that many saves, and has a good number of wins/losses. This tells me that he's pitched in plenty of non-save situations this year. Maybe its more of a recent phenomenon. I agree with Ralph in that I don't mind Eveland pitching in that situation. Frustrating Loss!
  23. Sorry to join late. .500 feels amazing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. It's all about the beard. Or the hair.
