Once Sánchez comes back, is there anything we could get for Haase? Maybe as a side piece in a bigger trade? Because with how he is playing there is no way he makes it through waivers
This is exactly why I refrain from judging the draft until at the very least early in day 3, if not until it is over. 7 (?) really interesting High School guys. Even if only 3-4 sign, it can be another fun class. Baseball is a game of patience and long-term results.
Oh and:
Levonas. Another one I like, Projectable kid fun fastball shape. If the price of getting Levonas and Meccage was Burke I am absolutely fine with it. And who knows what we might get the next 2 days
From Fangraphs: Beefy first base-only power-hitting prospect with plus all-fields juice. Sandwiched a down sophomore season between stellar freshman and junior campaigns. Led Division-I in doubles and had a 31-game hit streak as a junior. Pretty good plate coverage; tends to hit the ball where it's pitched. Hits some epic golf shot pull-side homers, can also flatten his path and bang stuff on the outer half to the opposite field gap. Plate discipline is an issue. Poor secondary pitch recognition leads to some in-zone whiffs versus hittable pitches. Your profile has to be iron clad to project as an average first baseman, and Burke's chase rates are a body blow to his. His power and barrel feel should still allow him to play a big league role for as long as he can maintain his current level of athleticism, ranking in the 25-40 range when you line up all the first basemen.
Is there anything baseball fans love doing more than overreact? Chill guys there's over 20 selections to go and we are saving money to make a lot of good picks a la Yoho, etc
From Fangraphs: Premier athlete with wide receiver's build at a strapping 6-foot-2. Plus-plus runner, reaches top speed in just a couple of strides. Downward cutting swing looks awkward a lot of the time, makes slash-and-dash contact in games. Has more power potential than that but his top hand needs to be more involved in his swing to get to it. Power/speed developmental prospect whose wheels are a fit in center field.
