  1. I don't get it either. Just seems like putting a square peg in a round hole. Granted, we'd be getting a very nice square peg, but I still don't see how it fits with this team. I have to admit I would get excited if he was acquired, but then question the logic of the move for some time.
  2. Yeah, I think it's a pretty black and white issue at this point. The season is almost 2/3rds done, and it's evident that we've been overplaying some really bad hitters compared to the competition.
  3. Yeah, I'm hoping for Melvin to make a significant move of some kind. I'm getting more and more worried that we won't see it happen though. The MLB trade market has been very quiet so far. I'm going to try and pay as little attention to the NFL noise as possible. The hype and over selling from the media is already extremely tiresome.
  4. Kotsay really isn't a big problem on this team. Betancourt, McGehee, and Counsell are all guys that should not be on a contending team. Kotsay is OK to have around as a 25th man on the roster for now.
  5. You would think Attanasio would demand action at some point.
  6. I'm not asking him to necessarily upgrade both 3B and SS, as I know that is probably tough. Just give me an upgrade at one or the other.
  7. Actually peple are saying he would waive it to go to a contender, and then probably re-sign with the Dodgers in the offseason. It's not like he'd have to move his family to Wisconsin or something.
  8. Maybe McGehee has incriminating pictures of Doug Melvin. Can't think of any other logical explanation at this point.
  9. RockCo, did Jamey Carroll kick your dog or something? You're making it sound like he's one of the worst players in all of baseball. He clearly isn't.
  10. Michael Bourn of the Astros is supposedly available. I wonder if Doug Melvin kicks the tires at least.
  11. Yeah, I wouldn't be in favor of dealing Hart for two months of Beltran and no draft pick compensation. Just speculating.
  12. Kuroda's current 3.19 ERA and 1.22 WHIP say otherwise.
  13. Kuroda has a $12 million contract this year (and is a FA after this season), so if we take on his salary we might not have to give up much in return. I could see Narveson being shifted into the pen with a move like this. Kuroda is having another really good season.
  14. Could this possibly be some kind of crazy three way trade where Hart is dealt to a third team, Beltran comes to the Brewers, and the Mets get one decent prospect from each of the other two teams? Just a thought.
  15. His WHIP so far this season is 1.202, which is actually a bit lower than his WHIP for last season, and slightly better than his career average of 1.260. His SO/9 is 11.7, which is way better than his career average of 7.9.
  16. Wife and I are doing a KC/STL road trip in a couple weeks. Nothing really to ask, as we have hotels booked already and such, but will look forward to sharing thoughts on here. Going to a KC/DET game and two games of the Cards/Brewers series.
  17. This seems like a real non-story that got blown out of proportion quickly.
  18. McGehee really isn't. Over the last 28 days his OPS is still a pathetic .527. Over the least 7 days it's .624, which is still terrible. His batting average has been getting slightly better, but he is showing no power and his OBP is still weak. Coupling that with his sub-standard defense makes him very replaceable if Melvin can find a better option via trade.
  19. I give credit to Betancourt for having a great few games. Maybe he actually has changed his stance somewhat like Bill Schroeder has said. I'm not totally sure, but he deserves credit. Now, can we expect him to keep hitting like this (or even close)? I tend to doubt it.
  20. This is one of those games where I'll probably fall asleep by the 4th inning due to the late start time. Still...Go Brewers! Should be a very good pitching matchup.
  21. I'm going to the game on the 28th so I won't bother with these, but still pretty cool to see.
  22. That's a good (and forgotten) point.
  23. I'm thinking that Melvin may deal Green for a SS or 3B very soon.
  24. Yeah, I don't think they're even considering Green at this point, which is silly. Melvin must think he can trade for a better 3B soon.
