I'd love to see him claim a veteran power bat for the bench, but just not sure if it will happen. They seem content with what they have. I do agree we'll probably see a LHRP added at some point. -

Seems crazy that they basically killed the hot Punk/Cena feud by having Del Rio win the belt right after. Maybe I'm missing something, since I didn't actually watch the show.

I agree. I don't know where the "Gamel can play right field" idea keeps coming from. He has played zero games in the outfield in Nashville this year, and only five last season. The organization still views him as a first baseman (only 10 starts at 3B this season).

I actually kind of feel this way too. I think Sheets' time has likely passed as an effective MLB pitcher (even as a reliever), as he hasn't pitched two of the past three seasons. If he were willing to sign a cheap MiLB deal, fine. I wouldn't give him one guaranteed cent in the majors right now, though. As far as any bad blood with Melvin, that's more Sheets' fault than anything.

Yeah, agreed. I was at a family reunion, and unfortunately forgot to bring my own pocket radio. My dad had his, but it only gets AM (the FM antenna broke or something). Couldn't get the game in at all, since the local AM affiliate here also switched the Brewers game to their FM subsidiary. I just find it hard to believe that many Packers fans are tuning in three hours before the Packers game for pre game coverage (which is usually pretty inane, IMHO). It's excessive and insulting to the Brewers, like DocLuna said.

In about two and a half more weeks, Green and Gamel should both be on the bench, and I imagine Lopez and Wilson will receive pretty minimal playing time at that point.

That does seem silly. Hallmark cards aren't cheap these days...usually $3.00-4.00 on top of what you've already spent on the gift. What if you just go with one of those cheapo little cards taped to the outside of the box? You can just write "Happy Birthday from ______". You are probably right that the kid doesn't care about the card anyway.

I don't know. Not to knock anyone here, but a lot of the knock offs I've seen people wearing around Miller Park or other stadiums just seem obvious. The fonts are wrong, weird spacing, bad stitching, etc. I wonder how well the stitching and materials hold up as well. I guess I don't get why people don't save up and get a legit replica jersey for $70-80. Just my opinion...not trying to be overly critical or tell other people how to handle their finances.

The whole "hardcore" thing got pretty silly after a while. "Real" wrestling is more exciting than two guys hitting each other with frying pans and kendo sticks. Barbed wire matches with lots of blood were exciting when I was 16 years old, but not so much today.

Yeah, I agree. I assume the thought is that if Estrada struggles early, Frankie can come in and be the long reliever. I think they could have easily reversed it, though. It seems like the Brewers are taking a hard line on their "don't throw minor leaguers to the wolves during a pennant race," mentality. My guess is that de la Cruz will see very limited usage before getting sent back down to the minors when Narveson returns.

Yeah, and Lawrie being a Canadian had extra value to the Blue Jays. I doubt they would have traded Marcum to us for anything less than him.

The Brewers really need to win 2 of 3. Yes, winning just one would be OK, but now is the time to twist the knife on the Cardinals. I want the Brewers to come in guns blazing and send a message to La Russa and his Cardinals. I will be disappointed with less than two wins. -
His defense still is extremely questionable, but I would say his offense is making up for it at this point. His ABs are no longer as despicable as they once were. I wonder if Sveum got him to adjust his swing or something? Before the All-Star break he was just flailing away...now it indeed seems like he is "waiting back" as Rock says.

I buy into "Playoff experience"... IF, and ONLY IF ...the two players that could be on the roster would be identical in every other way.Fair point. Hard to see how Craig's World Series experience from a decade ago would mean anything today.

Well, that one horrible call will be soon forgotten. I said all along they didn't have the pitching to sustain their run, and that seems to be the case right now. -
I would say yesterday's game is pretty good evidence that we won't see a repeat of that. This is a much more mature team, and Roenicke seems more reserved than Yost was during that time.
