Someone on Twitter just told me Morgan is indeed wearing #2.

Awesome. I never cared much for Michaels, and Trenni has shown she cares about local sports and does a good job. Nice move for WTMJ.

alwaysrocking, I was wondering the same thing. Yesterday's game on WMLW definitely wasn't on HD (same crappy SD picture). Since we haven't heard anything at this point, I have to think their claims last year have not come to fruition.

Yeah, ain't that the truth. I always get a chuckle how every off-season you get the people who claim, "I've been a season ticket holder for 20 years, and I've finally had enough!" Yeah, I'm real sure that .25 increase in the price of beer finally pushed you over the edge from being a die hard, buddy.

I'm not sure if it's this game (is there split squad again?) but supposedly Nyjer Morgan is there and may play today.

Glad to hear they're keeping Boggs, but I'm still disappointed they lost Cruz.

How are those of you with tablets liking them? I am thinking of getting a tablet, primarily for web surfing and email. I don't "need" one, just think it would be cool and useful for a few business needs. I am leaning towards either the iPad 2 or the Blackberry Playbook. As a current Blackberry user, the sync features on the Playbook are intriguing. Then again, the iPad is just plain cool (and has many more apps, etc). Not really sure which way to go, and I'm not in a big rush either. Thoughts?

There will be demand, but how many teams realistically need a big bopper 1B and can afford to pay him what he wants? We'll see, I guess.

Logan, I agree. Occasionally I'll get the cactus league nachos or a brat, but for the most part we eat in the parking lot and bring in our own snacks. Not too many professional sports teams let you both tailgate and bring in your own food and beverages.

This article from Don Walker talks about the new scoreboard, and also the newly improved audio system.

Weird thing is I'm getting this game on WMLW (we have Charter), but the FSN channel currently has nothing on at all. Sometimes in the past they've carried the game on both channels. And it goes without saying that WMLW's picture is still terrible. Escobar just crushed a homer.

I like Arnett, but I'm having trouble picturing how he would interact with the established characters. I suppose that will be part of the fun, though.
  13. Invader3K
Well, that could be. He's 30, which means he could have a couple good seasons left in him, or he could already be declining. Hard to tell. Hopefully coming to a team in legitimate contention will motivate him.

Seems like the big question is whether Almonte or Cruz make the club as the backup IF.
  15. Invader3K
This is quite a stretch. Morgan had a bad year last season, but his career slash line is: .283/.344/.360. What's missing is power, but he can hit and get on base.

I'm not sure how I would go as all three of Sabathia, Fielder, and Ortiz. That would be an overly complicated costume that I'm not interested in making. Brian, the idea of a "fanfest" sounds awesome, and doing something with the Timber Rattlers seems like a no brainer to me.

Sounds like the Nats lowered their demands, which is why Melvin re-visited and got this deal done. Still a funny quote above, re: Rosenthal, though.
  18. Invader3K
I expect them to be just as bad as they were last year. I don't see how anyone can consider them a serious contender unless they somehow catch lightning in a bottle and everything breaks their way, like you said. Not realistic.

This tidbit from Adam McCalvy made me laugh: Melvin made calls to check out Morgan’s checkered past, which I will get into in my coverage later today. He learned that Morgan is emotional and tempremental, “but he’s not a problem in the clubhouse.” That was good enough for Melvin, who chalked up Morgan’s emotion to the fact he’s a former hockey player.

Sounds like Boggs gets sent down, though he has to pass waivers first.

When I first heard about this trade, I was confused. But now hearing that Gomez has the CF job (for now), and that the Brewers only had to give up Cutter Dykstra (who let's face it, was never going to be a Milwaukee Brewer), I'm slightly optimistic.

jj, sorry also to hear about your family. Thanks everyone for coming out...the wife and I had a great time. Who knows, maybe we can do a fall gathering like Game05 suggested, or something during the regular season.
  23. Invader3K
Folks, late notice, but we are in the upstairs bar area (by the billiards). Come on and join us!
  24. Invader3K
Ouch. But I don't put much stock in the words of one unnamed scout.
  25. Invader3K
Yep, very good episode this week. Looking forward to how the rest of the season plays out.
