  1. This might have been posted already, but from Ryan Braun's Facebook fan page: I'm going to be a Milwaukee Brewer through at least 2020!! I've grown attached to Milwaukee and most importantly the Brewer fans. I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to play here for the next 10 years. I'm excited about the direction of the organization and our chance to win. My goal is to bring a World Series Championship to the Brewers organization and the city of Milwaukee and I promise to do everything in my power to make that dream a reality! Thank you to the Brewers organization for making this possible. That bolded part made me smile.
  2. Well, that's a good chunk of change, but he'll likely be worth it by then (assuming of course he stays healthy...knock on wood). I do think your speculation about Marcum and/or Greinke may be correct. My guess is that Melvin and company have moved on from any thought of re-signing Prince at this point
  3. Agreed. Another nice aside is this basically kills any speculation that Mark Attanasio will be looking to sell the team in the near future.
  4. This is just huge news (obviously). Ryan Braun had said previously he wanted to be a Brewer for many years to come, and has now put his money where his mouth is. He is my favorite player, and now I'm glad to know I'll be able to cheer him on in Milwaukee for many more years to come.
  5. Tyler Braun says it's a 5 year extension which will take Braun through the 2020 season.
  6. I don't know. I recall a tweet yesterday from someone (don't remember who...it wasn't a media person), claiming they heard some second hand info "from either Braun's agent or a friend of his" about Braun getting re-signed. At the time I didn't give it much thought, but now this story seems to have legs. Here is the tweet from yesterday. Now the same person is mentioning a seven year deal.
  7. Jen Lada reporting on Twitter: Hearing Brewers making big announcment this afternoon possibly re: Braun contract extension. Standing by for details/confirmation. Fox 6 also mentioning it now.
  8. Tom Haudricourt is on the D-List right now basically saying the LA Times pulled Attanasio's name out of thin air. He notes there is no sourcing on this "story" at all.
  9. I guess Jack Z. decided to be nice and take a flyer on him. I'll be surprised if Salome ever makes the big leagues at this point, though I wish him good luck.
  10. I still think this is a completely fan/media generated idea. Attanasio has been a great owner and I hope he retains the Brewers for a long time.
  11. I really doubt Attanasio is going to be looking to sell the Brewers, at least quite yet. Attendance is high, media revenues are supposedly going up (new TV contract kicking in soon). Team looks to be in contention for hopefully a couple more seasons...no reason for him to sell right now.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I would rather see the Brewers in April than the Bucks (especially when the Bucks are woefully out of contention). I do think people will come back around if the Bucks are competitive again.
  13. Oh geez, you're back with your conspiracy theories again.
  14. One would hope the Brewers at least take a look. I mean, we just signed 37 year old Luis Figueroa to a minor league deal.
  15. I feel less worried about the lineup after the past couple games. Lucroy has been solid at the plate, and Betancourt has been showing some flashes of not being completely useless. Still don't like Gomez in the two spot, but whatever... Excited to see Narveson take the mound again and hopefully continue his dominance.
  16. I think he's going to have a monster year, regardless of where his walk totals fall.
  17. It was just a disappointing season after a playoff year. If they can make some moves and be competitive next year, people will come back. As far as the future, I wonder how soon Sen. Kohl will seriously look at selling the team. It's something that's been banded about for years, but who knows when it will come to fruition?
  18. Got my Playbook today. It's really slick. Great browser. I was even able to use the chat room this evening with it.
  19. Yeah, I wouldn't cry about missing either of Halladay or Lee right now, especially with most of our bullpen needing some rest, too.
  20. Yeah, I don't know if you can really say Green replaced Villanueva. In terms of dollars spent, Saito was probably the real replacement.
  21. OK, I know I'll get lambasted for this, but MLB Trade Rumors has a new article up about the Astros potentially selling off some pieces. It's all just speculation at this point, but what about: Bill Hall? Yes, he's batting terribly right now; but it would cost basically nothing to get him, and his defense would be a huge upgrade over Betancourt.
  22. Well, there's that too. Though if that was really the situation you would think that would have been put out there already.
  23. Braun has seemed to make some head scratching decisions lately. It seems like he's falling into the trap of "playing hard to mask deficiencies." Stuff like that throw to home last night, and that useless dive on Sunday. Reminds me of Eric Byrnes out there.
  24. I do wonder if he's not getting enough work consistently, but I wouldn't say "He's still throwing it good." He looks like he's all over the place and not locating well. I'm not panicked yet, but a bit concerned. At least Hawkins and Saito should both be back very soon, so Roenicke has options.
