  1. My understanding was that after he converted to Islam, he felt even more out of place and wanted to move to a bigger city that would have that type of community within it (ie. Los Angeles).
  2. Not that I was even born yet, but I thought at the time there wasn't really too much animosity for Kareem leaving? My understanding is that many people understood his reasons for wanting to get traded. Plus, you know, he had actually brought Milwaukee a championship.
  3. I haven't actually looked at her laptop in the past week. I'll take a look later today and see how things are going. I know MalwareBytes seemed to help and did find some stuff that it cleaned up.
  4. Yeah, it can get really old. It's like, "Hello, I'm trying to give you money...maybe you could possibly call me back if you maybe sort of feel like it? Thanks."
  5. Quick and dirty Cardinals lineup for today: Carpenter Wong Holliday Adams Peralta Craig Jay Cruz Martinez
  6. A win is probably asking too much right now. Just hoping they don't completely phone it in today...this team is begging for an All-Star break and chance to re-group right now. Quick and dirty Brewers lineup: Gomez Gennett Lucroy Ramirez Braun Davis Overbay Herrerra Peralta
  7. I'd like to think Molitor would have been welcomed back if he had come back late in his career (for example, after his two seasons in Toronto). He basically wanted to stay in Milwaukee, and got low balled. Fielder, I'm not so sure if he would be. I think most fans knew all along he would be bolting out of Milwaukee the minute he hit free agency. That tends to leave a sour taste in the mouths of most fans.
  8. What a tragedy to lose a child, especially if it was very sudden or unexpected. Only a select few on this forum know, but my wife and I lost our first child four years ago. She was stillborn due to a fatal birth defect. It's a devastating thing for anyone to go through, and you always think about what could have been. I hope Jean will take all the time he and his family need to get through the grieving process, though that never really ends when a parent loses a child. I know the entire Brewers family will be there for Jean and his family. I'm sure all of Brewers nation and the people on this site will be, too.
  9. And the same folks were were burning jerseys and cursing his name are all happy and excited again. Go figure.
  10. I don't cheer for injuries, but he's my absolute least favorite current big leaguer, so I'm not exactly shedding tears over this one.
  11. I heard on WSSP this morning that Fielder actually approached ESPN about being in this issue.
  12. Tough loss last night, but when your starting pitcher is so unexpectedly terrible for one game, what else are you going to do? The kicker is that the Overbay grand slam seemed like it was setting up the Brewers for a big "resurgence" win. Really don't see blaming this one on Roenicke, but some are always going to point fingers at the manager.
  13. Thanks guys. I'm trying the scans right now. Also, the laptop has 4 GB of ram and is running 64 bit Windows 7.
  14. *BUMP* Hey everyone. My wife is in need of a new laptop. Her current one is about five years old, and getting slower and slower. It's time for her to upgrade. Main needs aren't anything too intensive (no gaming or heavy video editing, etc). Mainly will be used for basic work stuff like spreadsheets, some accounting, word processing, etc. Has to be a PC, due to compatibility with some software our business uses. Are there any good sites to go to in order to get a good deal these days? Doesn't need to be a bottom barrel modern, but not looking to blow a grand on this either. Thanks!
  15. I'm not a big soccer fan, but honestly, all the anti-soccer backlash is starting to come off as a bit nonsensical and self-serving. "I'm so sick of everyone talking about the most popular sport in the world! Look how cool I am, I don't even like soccer! It's so boring, what are those millions of people so excited about?" Not ripping on anyone here, but there's been a lot of that in the media and on Twitter lately and it's a bit tiresome and over the top. It's middle of summer, so it's not like there aren't other sports to watch if you don't like the World Cup.
  16. Discussions like this remind me of the days when Gabe Gross was our "lightning rod of controversy" as one intrepid reporter referred to him.
  17. Was at this one yesterday...had a great time and got to see some friends we hadn't seen in a couple years. Great win. Glad to hear Gomez's injury doesn't sound too serious. It was a pretty scary moment for a little bit with how slow he was to get up.
  18. Kind of a typical Friday. I just got to sit down and turn on the game myself.
  19. Yeah, gutters and downspouts pointed away from the house could likely solve this issue.
  20. Haha, that was great. Very creative.
  21. Culvers already has a ton of locations in Illinois, so I don't think it's that big a deal really.
  22. I passed out on the couch and missed most of this one. Glad to wake up and hear the Crew won, even if it involved idiotic D-Backs shenanigans.
  23. I remember being at home alone, and for some reason catching the white Bronco chase on TV. To be honest, I didn't know much about OJ Simpson, other than knowing he was a retired football player, so I didn't really feel any connection to the case and ensuing media hoopla.
  24. I actually really liked last night's episode. The whole "Children" thing seems a bit bizarre, but whatever. I liked that Arya is moving along, and that was a pretty great fight scene...the Hound finally got what was coming to him. I was kind of surprised that Tywin was killed off at this point, though I figured he would be dead eventually anyway.
