  2. I barely watched any of the game last night, and they won...I guess I will follow the same strategy for today.

  4. Casey, basically, to answer your question: I hate iTunes.
  5. I agree. This looks more like an A ball stadium than AAA. At least it looks nicer than the dump that was Greer Stadium. Of course I'm sure the new Sounds field will blow both of those away.
  6. What's he supposed to come out and say? Frankly, I don't want to be one of those teams whose owner is always making media appearances, making it all about himself. Yeah, there's not much he can say or do at this point. Knowing what we know about Mark Attanasio, I'm guessing this last 30 days has been a huge gut punch to him. The team was getting ready for what looked like a decent post season run, and instead he's probably now facing calls for a rebuild, managerial firing, etc. It's a shame because it's not like he hasn't let the team spend money to try and win. It will be three years since the team made the playoffs. I hope Mr. Attanasio takes a long and hard look at this team, and realizes it's time to do a serious rebuild. The key players aren't getting younger and meanwhile, the rest of the division looks to have a bright future around the corner.
  7. Nope. Half thinking of locking this thread, to be honest.
  8. I had the same problem when I worked in a retail sales job years ago. Every other week, our check would include a factored in "team bonus" (ie. commissions) for hitting certain goals and metrics. We would get taxed at a higher rate than our normal paycheck that was based simply on our hourly wage. It was frustrating, but not much you can do about it. You may want to evaluate your withholdings if you get a large refund at the end of the year, as that means you are having too much in taxes taken out.
  9. "The bigger problem is that the Brewers star offensive players have basically done jack squat for the last 4 weeks. We aren't scoring runs and when you can throw a lineup out there including Gomez, Braun, Lucroy, and Ramirez not to mention the likes of Gennet, Davis, Parra, etc we should be scoring runs." I think this is the key thing. The guys who are supposed to be All-Star caliber players aren't coming through and aren't stepping up to carry the team. Criticizing a guy like H.Gomez for doing nothing is pretty weak, in my opinion. I really think Melvin and Roenicke are going to be gone this off-season, barring a miracle turn around.
  10. Frustrating loss, but you can't pin it all on Mark Reynolds (and yes, it was a totally stupid play on his part). This lineup has been running on total fumes lately. You can't put up 1-2 runs a night and expect to win. Guys aren't producing in key situations, we're leaving runners on base constantly, and it just looks like the team is ready to be done. Very sad and frustrating.
  11. Brewers officially announce Colorado Springs is their new AAA affiliate, which was a forgone conclusion.
  12. Yost tried getting into arguments with the umps late in the 2007 season and it arguably cost us a playoff spot. Maybe ticking off the officials isn't always a great decision. I don't think Roenicke can be blamed for his lineup producing zero runs, either.
  13. I refuse to get an iPhone and deal with all the requisite Apple junk that goes along with it. I know many love them. Personally I love my Note 3, so to each their own.
  14. Adam McCalvy and other reporting that the Sounds will be going with a new MLB team in 2015, just as they will be moving into a new stadium. Seems like poor form on the Sounds' part. They will become an affiliate of the Oakland A's. Fresno and Colorado Springs are the only options for the Brewers at this point. Edit : in a followup Tweet, McCalvy says Melvin is calling the Sounds' handling of the situation "hogwash". Brewers have a right to feel miffed, as they stayed in Nashville for years with inadequate Greer Stadium.
  15. "Ping" is old school computer terminology for one computer contacting another. Didn't know anyone was still using it, honestly.
  16. Apparently Papelbon has been given a seven game suspension now for the incident. To me, that seems excessive.
  17. An interesting point not brought up in the AP case (at least not that I've really heard much from the media) is that he had another child tragically die about a three years ago when some other man abused the boy. Seems like he is pretty inconsistent with which children he chooses to raise and how he raises them.
  18. Eh...I think an ejection probably is warranted. That's basically an obscene gesture.
  19. It's too early to get excited about him, but he is at least showing promise. I don't see any reason he can't be in the mix during Spring Training 2015. Reynolds has at least delivered in the power category and played some very good defense at times. Overbay has been what we all pretty much expected...a basically washed up hitter who can play semi-competent defense. I wouldn't be shocked to see Reynolds back next season, but hopefully Overbay calls it a career or goes elsewhere.
  20. That is weird. Any mention by Roenicke of this after the game? I'm guessing not, but it seems curious.
  21. I have very mixed feeling on the issue of Roger Goodell. I think the whole incident doesn't reflect well on the commisioner's office. That said, I think with social media latching onto this story, the whole thing seems like it has turned into a witch hunt in order to destroy everyone even remotely associated with this incident. Ray Rice was the one who did the act, and he lost his job. Really, shouldn't that be the result people would want? I also find the attempts to armchair psycho-analyze Rice's now wife pretty despicable. re: Redskins name, I get there may be historic non-offensive reasons for the name...but the use of the word "negroe" didn't use to be offensive either. No one would name a team "The Negroes" in 2014. I doubt anyone would go up to a Native American they didn't know and call them a "Redskin" either. To me, it seems like the Washington ownership should want to change the name because it's become too much of a liability, PC reasons or not.
  22. Fell alseep early last night on the couch and missed everything. Go figure.
  23. I wish we would do away completely with DST, but that's just my opinion.
  24. I really hope you're right. The team looked much more at ease last night. When Segura scored on that Gomez infield single, they looked like they were actually having fun and enjoying themselves. Kind of like a change in the mood for the whole team. Hopefully it lasts.
