  1. Jim, there's got to be a joke in that picture somewhere about trying to make people drink the Brewer Kool-Aid.
  2. I only got to see the first two innings, so there is one man I would like to thank for the Brewers first two runs: Juan Pierre. Rickie Weeks should never had ended up getting to third base on JJ's hit in the 1st inning. And Hart should not have made it to second base in the 2nd inning on his "double." But I'll obviously take it - this time the Brewers' aggressive baserunning worked out. Nice win - let's keep it going.
  3. Flip-flop Hardy and Hart and then flip-flop Estrada and Jenkins and then switch Counsell for Graffanino and then I think I could live with that line-up. I foresee a long lunch at work for me tomorrow starting at approximately 1:05 pm CST.
  4. First of all, thanks for posting Josh - very cool. And best of luck to your clients (who by the way, are really really fast) within the Brewers organization. Those are some really interesting players to follow and all of them seem to possess quite a load of potential to improve as they progress through the system. I noticed you said that Brent Brewer was a client, but I did not see him on your Clients page on the website. There is a Damon Brewer, but no Brent. Just curious. I also found it interesting that a few of your clients with the Brewers went through the DFE process. Was the DFE process an often utilized process within your agency and do you have any quick thoughts from an agent perspective on the process going away? I would also encourage you to post again after the draft to let us know if any more of your clients got drafted and maybe if the Brewers get anymore of them. Thanks.
  5. Colby, any word on what ever happened with Tim Smith? I believe he was the highest drafted DFE from the 2005 class. He seemed to be doing OK with whatever CC he was with. Is he going to get drafted again by anybody? Just curious.
  6. Everybody should be happy to know that this video made it on VH1's "Best Week Ever." And yes, I am ashamed that if I happen to come across that show I sometimes watch it. But seriously Littell, it's pretty hilarious when the camera pans down on him at the beginning only to find that he does not have any pants on. It then turns into an episode of "Jackass" when he stands on the two coolers in front of a pallet. Well done Mark.
  7. I don't know if this was already mentioned but the player profile links on milb.com have been drastically improved. A lot more statistical info as well as a little more personal info.
  8. Yeah, that felt good. Phillips HR aside, Ohka was incredible today - nasty cutter and great location today. What a relief that he appears to be fully recovered from his injury. I like that Barnwell appears to be a pretty solid and versatile defender, but man is he a liability at the major league level with the bat. He's like Brady Clark without the power. And yes, that's a joke.
  9. Mass, I did a double-take when I saw that a Low Rookie pitcher had gone 6 innings. Great outing by the 17 year old Peralta. Very encouraging. It would be awesome to see some of these Rookie ball Latin American pitchers have a few more outings like that. I'm probably expecting a little too much for these youngsters, but it would be nice to see a little bit more domination from time to time.
  10. Concerning the Crew's 2nd round pick Brent Brewer with Arizona: He got his first hit today after going 0 for 15 to start the season - but only 2 strikeouts during that little slump. Also, I may be mistaken but I don't believe he has done anything but DH so far in Arizona. Let's get the kid in the outfield!
  11. It was impossible to tell how serious by Cappy's reaction. He barely flinched and even started running to 1st base to get the toss from Prince, but there was no play. He grimaced a little bit at the mound afterwards, but it didn't appear that he was favoring it much - he really didn't seem very fazed. But who knows.
  12. Congratulations Beavers. Came back from the "elimination bracket" - had to beat Rice twice and North Carolina twice, and they did. In case you missed when North Carolina was batting in the 8th: bases loaded, two outs, 1-2 count. The runner at 3rd attempts to steal home. And he probably would have been safe but the batter struck out swinging. Oregon State took the lead in the bottom of the 8th when the North Carolina secondbaseman blew it on a routine grounder (errant throw) that would have ended the inning, instead it lead to a run and the Beavers won 3-2.
  13. Gross/Clark platoon in CF. Jenkins/Hart platoon in RF. Man law.
  14. I just posted this in the minor league forum, but I read an article that says that the Brewers have offered a contract to Bill Rowe of Oregon State, and that after the CWS Bill will be reporting to Helena. I guess there are two Beavers to cheer for now. From the article:
  15. According to an article on cbssportsline.com by Dennis Dodd, the Brewers have signed Bill Rowe from Oregon State after he went undrafted and are assigning him to Helena. Here's the quote from the article: Article on Bill Rowe Bill Rowe was the hero of last night's CWS game as the Beavers keep coming back.
  16. I agree igor. A pretty questionable call-up. Right now Braun is an error-prone thirdbaseman with a 770-ish OPS. The power potential is obviously there, but it hasn't come together yet for him despite being considered an advanced college hitter just a year ago. I personally would like to see him dominate (and admittedly sort of expected him to) High A ball before he gets promoted. The only reasons I can think of that he should be promoted are to add a little pop to the Huntsville line-up and perhaps because Heether is struggling so much. I guess to me it just seems like the reasons to keep him at A+ outweigh the reasons to promote him.
  17. Somebody please tell me that Gallardo was on a pitch count and that's why he left after 4.2 innings. Also, according to the boxscore, it appears that Braun is playing tonight in Brevard County and is not on his way to Huntsville quite yet. He's currently 2 for 2 with a triple and an RBI, and no errors so far.
  18. The Brewers have not scored more than 6 runs in a game in their last 21 games. That ends tonight. And they may have to if they want to win. Wow, that's a potent offense for the Tigers, at least on paper. I admittedly had never heard of Granderson or Thames before this series. I'm a little in the dark as far as the AL goes in my own little Brewer universe. DD has his hands full.
  19. Inspired by the commercials from the Telemundo telecast today, in particular, I was not away that Jeff Cirillo was on the Telemundo soap opera "La Tormenta:" Jeff Cirillo of La Tormenta
  20. adamb100, I believe the Cubs pitchers gave up 8 longballs total. Prior "only" gave up 4 of them. He went 3 and 2/3, giving up 7 runs, and threw 88 pitches. Regardless of who gave up the homeruns, Cubs are bad, and that's good. One of these games we'll see a good outing from either Wood or Prior. One of these days. Also, if any of you get a chance, check out the Mets vs. Orioles highlights. The Orioles leftfielder tries fielding a sharply hit single and the ball bounces up into his sleeve, through his shirt, and out the back of his shirt by the back of his neck. I've never seen anything like it.
  21. Telemundo commercials are awesome. I like the Braeger one where they make Turnbow speak some Spanish. Also, the guy in the "La Tormenta" spots looks like Jeff Cirillo - made funnier because "La Tormenta" looks like some sort of scandalous Cowboy soap opera.
  22. Actually, I probably won't even want any food. Maybe I could just throw in for a beer or three?
  23. I don't need a game ticket. But I wouldn't mind stopping over by you guys and pitching in for a little food and beer. If that's OK?
  24. Whiteside! Ya motorboatin' son of a gun! Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  25. Colby, I was also pleasantly surprised with Gillespie's speed as well. I heard "corner outfielder," "lingering shoulder problems," and I immediately thought he would be a bit more lumbering, somewhere between say Carlos Lee and Adam Dunn. But Cole can move pretty well. I only saw him running out of the box to 1st but he seemed pretty quick and had some burst. Anyways, Oregon State is the only team with a Brewers draftee left in the College playoffs and I believe Oregon State plays Miami at 6pm on ESPN on Saturday night. Of course, right during the Brewers/Indians game, but if you want to you could flip back and forth. Check it out.
