    Anybody else a little annoyed by the Braves fan who must be right by an FSN microphone? Meanwhile, in Chicago, Carlos Zambrano struck out at the plate a few innings ago and proceeded to break his bat over his knee. Good thinking Z-man.

    I thought I'd start 'er up today. Preview from foxsports.com: Brewers vs. Reds Preview As far as I know, the game WILL be on TV today on FSN North.

    SeriesFinale, I was just about to post the EXACT same thing. If Pettitte's performance was a "masterpiece," than what was Cappy's performance? Cappy probably pitched a better game! He sure didn't pitch a worse game. Poor, poor Pettitte. How dare the bullpen ruin his "masterpiece." On a sidenote, kudos to the FSN crew for continuously showing the Brewer (guy) and Astro (girl) couple. The girl did not appear to be happy about the Astros losing to her boyfriend's Brewers. There seemed to be some actual tension between them. When the game was over she tried to bolt for the stairs to leave. The boyfriend stopped her though to give her a somewhat awkward hug. She was not happy.

    It appears that Gwynn has replaced Krynzel in CF. Did anybody hear what happened?

    With that lineup, Huntsville is going to struggle mightily this year. While I'm excited to follow their pitching staff with Dilliard, Villanueva, and hopefully Parra and eventually Mike Jones, that offensive lineup is just not conducive to scoring runs. Not much slugging power on that roster.

    I'm not sure if this was already posted but, Ty Taubenheim just recently had his first start for Toronto's AAA affiliate Syracuse. Here are his stats after just one start: Ty Taubenheim Stats In perusing the bluejayway.ca's forums, it sounds like Ty had an excellent spring training and has carried it into his first start. I'm a little surprised the Blue Jays vaulted him to AAA right away considering he had a pretty mediocore AA half-season at Huntsville last year for the Crew. Good for Ty. He was one of my favorites last year.

    They mentioned the thread about trading for Johan Santana? In the Brewerfan Trade Forum? In what context? Because that thread is more or less a random conversation, sort of jokey thread. Funny stuff in that thread by the way - I enjoyed it.

    greg, that's interesting, I was at the game and the only outfield flyball out I remember is the warning track catch that Carlos made, but I may have missed a few outs because of concessions, bathroom, etc. Favorite parts of the game: 1. Dave Bush's performance 2. Seeing Prince Fielder rip the ball and get a rock solid hit

    The Mets v. Nats game is on ESPN right now. If you want to get a glimpse of Ryan Zimmerman, one of the thirdbaseman taken ahead of Ryan Braun in last year's draft. He's starting the season off just like he finished it last year. I can only hope our 3B Ryan ends up doing as well, only with even more power.

    Do you think the opinion that strikeouts are so bad stems from what we were taught growing up? For instance, making contact and striking out less is more important...when you're still learning how to hit, defenses suck and the chances of double plays are almost nil, like when you were growing up playing little league, Babe Ruth, and high school ball. Just a random thought.

    In other news, TGJ decided that he did not want to hit a home run today and instead settled on a 1-3 day with a triple. Personally, I will be dissappointed if he gets anything less than a double during spring training the rest of the way. Seriously though, nice start. Keep it rolling into Nashville.

    0 home runs in 47.1 innings pitched. Not bad. What sort of competition did he face in the VSL? Is it mostly 17, 18, 19 year olds?

    It took me a while to comprehend that as well Beast Light. The FAQ link on Brewerfan's homepage helped me out though: www.brewerfan.net/ViewDraftFaq.do The way I understand it, if you don't get drafted right out of high school, you have to be at least 21 years old and have played at least 2 years of college ball to get drafted again. However, there's more to it than the answer I just gave, so I'd just refer to the link.

    Now I get it. I was not familiar with the whole 1st and 2nd round supplemental rounds. This is the first MLB draft that I am making an effort at following. It's definitely a different animal than the NFL and NBA drafts. And yeah, it's sort of frustrating from a Brewers fan perspective to see excellent teams/franchises like the Cards and Braves getting all those picks inside of the first 2 rounds. Thanks for the help guys. I promise I won't have any more questions for a few more months.

    I apologize in advance for the stupid question, but why don't the Brewers have the 16th 46th 76th picks in the draft? I know they lost last year's second round pick because of the Damian Miller signing, but why did they apparently drop in the the 2006 draft?

    Thanks for the article. Tim Smith seems like a great DFE to follow. Otherwise, a good handful of tall pitchers. On your link to your 2001 DFE article it is interesting to see Tim Dilliard as one of the DFEs and he's listed as a catcher. What are the advantages or reasons as to why the Brewers are using the DFE process on so many Canadians? I know there are some Canadians in our front office, but the Brewers had to have set a record last year for most Canadians drafted.

    The theme to this year's draft is definitely the abundance of pitching prospects in the first round. And it seems to me that the consensus is that the Brewers should select a pitcher with their first pick. For argument's sake, what do you think of the Brewers selecting one of the projected outfielders with their first pick, someone who could become a corner outfielder with some decent slugging power? I just feel that after Nelson Cruz at AAA, there is a bit of a void in the Brewers system for a legit power bat in the outfield save maybe Charlie Fermaint and Brendan Katin. There seems to be plenty of speedy, OBP, lead-off type outfielders like Brantley, Cain, Ford, Moss, Gwynn, etc. With the possibility that we may not have both Jenkins or Lee on the team in 2 years, I'm a little concerned about our corner outfield depth considering that Hart and Cruz are unproven at the major league level. In looking at your list of top 30 prospects right now, a few that stood out in order of who I would like: Cody Johnson Max Sapp-listed as a Catcher but could perhaps see a move to the outfield? Or forget about him as an outfielder, how about the Brewers draft him as a Catcher? Riley Cooper Drew Stubbs Matt LaPorta-listed as a 1B but could perhaps see a move to the outfield as well? Any merit to my proposal or thoughts? Or are the pitchers just too strong to pass on in the first round? I know you can never have enough pitchers, but isn't our depth right now stable enough? I'd appreciate any comments. I'm here to learn.

    Quick question about the manual scoreboards on the left and right field walls at Miller Park: What do the two numbers in front of the team name abbreviation mean? For example: if NYY defeats BOS 3-2, the scoreboard might read (and I'm making up numbers): 62 NYY 3 27 BOS 2 I do notice that the numbers in front of the team names don't change, but I just can't figure it out. I'm sure it's an obvious explanation, but I'm not too bright.

    I believe that Jenkins' song is "California Love." As a side note, I would like to thank a handful of Brewerfan.net members for getting me and one of my buddies absolutely hooked on the Cactus League Nachos. We love those things now and now know where all the stands are for them. Anytime you get to eat nachos in a small bowl with a fork, it's a good thing. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Is anybody else a little frustrated with this ump and how he makes his strike calls? He's a little slow and he doesn't get animated when he calls it. Let us know, is it a ball or a strike! As a side note, Corey Patterson is not very good. Wow.
