  1. I posted in the Ned thread about the beaning of Pujols. If Pujols really called him out like that after the game, awesome. Someone needs to play that on a continuous loop for Doug and Mark A. Seriously though....HOW THE HELL DOES TURNBOW WALK MIGUEL FREAKING CAIRO AND KELLY FREAKING STINNETT?? Really? You couldn't just go right after those guys? I don't care if they hit the ball out of the damn park, you have to pitch to guys like that. And why in the world would you leave Turnbow after walking Cairo when it was obvious to the entire world and any hypothetical life in outer space that he had completely lost his control?! Gaah. If this team hasn't already made me a legal alcoholic, I'll be there after tonight.
  2. I don't know that I've ever been angrier after a Brewers loss, and that includes those debacles in Chicago last month. Way to show everyone what a tough guy you are, Ned. Because this was definitely the time and place for it. I hope to God that Mark A went to the clubhouse and fired him right after the game, but that would just be too good to be true. And I know he can't come straight out and say he sent McClung in there to bean Pujols, but good grief. At least say "no comment" or something like that. Don't insult every sentient human being who watched the game by saying that the pitch got away.
  3. I've been watching the first season episodes on TBS (first time ever watching it) and I've got to say, I love it. The episode tonight where Dwight takes away the health care and people start making up random diseases to be covered cracked me up. "Hot dog fingers?!" I think I'm going to have to rent seasons 2 and 3 and DVR the new ones so I can get caught up.
  4. Grand Geneva is nice....either there or Stallis.
  5. My brother-in-law has a Honda Accord and is very happy with it. I have an '06 Corolla and am quite pleased...reasonable price and great gas mileage.
  6. He looks like the guy from the "Oops I Crapped My Pants" spoof on SNL.
  7. I'm all for bringing the barrel and chalet back, or maybe better, putting an updated version of those things in. You could still have the lights for Uecker's HR call too. The slide is just lame and kind of boring.
  8. Everyone bashes Yost but why doesn't anyone ever bash Mike Maddux or any of the bench coaches? There's a reason why they have 3 coaches in the dugout, they talk about the decisions game-wise its just not Yost. Do they? That's not meant to be a smart aleck comment, that's a genuine question that my friends and I have wondered about this year. I've been to a bunch of games and watched a ton more on TV and it doesn't seem like Yost is ever talking to anyone except Maddux every now and then. Heck, a lot of times they're on opposite ends of the dugout. It doesn't seem like Ned spends a lot of time talking to them. I realize he might talk to them when cameras aren't on him or I'm not looking, but it warrants mentioning. And wasn't that one of the dirty little rumors about why Robin Yount left after last year? That Ned just wanted yes-men in the dugout and not people who would question his decision making?
  9. While people can argue all day about how responsible Yost was for today's loss, this quote from him in Tom Haudricourt's game article on JS Online just underlines why lots of people want him gone: The Brewers missed a prime opportunity to tack on another run in the 10th after Hart's homer, which loomed large after Thorman tied the game. With runners on the corners, including speedy pinch-runner Mel Stocker at third, substitute third baseman Craig Counsell tried a drag bunt with two strikes and fouled it off for a strikeout. Asked if he thought that was a smart play, Yost growled, "Counsell is a polished major league, professional player." That's an observation and one man's opinion, not a reason to call for a questionable (and that's putting it charitably) move in extra innings in one of the biggest games of the year, whether you have the lead or not. We're always told that Yost has reasons for what he does. I sure as heck hope that reasons like that are not what people who want him back are hanging their hats on.
  10. Jones hits better from the left side of the plate...that's why they had lefty Ray King pitch to him in his previous AB. I don't know about Tex's splits...
  11. Those powder blue Toronto jerseys are interesting. If they were going to bring back jerseys from that era, I would have thought it would be the white ones, or the royal blue alternate they wore. I always thought those jerseys were sharp, classy, and distinct to the Blue Jays. The powder blues...not so much.
  12. Very nice article. "If you can't recognize that "tied in the tenth inning, other team's best guys up, a half-game out of first place, 12 days left" is about the highest-leverage situation you're going to come across, and act accordingly, it's possible that you're not the best person for your job." I love that quote. Sums up Ned pretty nicely.
  13. "Actually I disagree. Theres too much Green in Baseball(just look at every seat in Ballparks these days)." True, however, besides the A's, who else has green as a major color? There's a ton of teams with blue already.
  14. Don't any of our coaches in the dugout do anything? Can't one of them get in Ned's ear and attempt to talk some sense in to him when he's making all the wrong moves, like tonight? Or do we just have a bunch of yes-men on the bench?
  15. Yeah, I loved those 1987 Topps. You can't beat the wood frames...
  16. Glad to see that a patron saint of BF.net (Ginter) made it on the countdown for #6. Here's an old favorite...ah, 1987... http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pics/bj_surhoff_autograph.jpg
  17. I'll be there with my wife, brother-in-law, and his girlfriend. We're sitting up on top of the world in 439, hoping for the BF FanFest magic to strike again!
  18. If you get really desperate, you could always try purchasing someone's contract. (yeah, I know that makes you the owner and not the player, but...)
  19. My first job was at County Stadium as a food vendor during the 1998 season. It was a lot of fun (I worked there through the 2002 ASG), although being the low man on the totem pole could really suck at County Stadium...like the 38 degree April night my first year when I had to try and sell Dove Bars. Not good times. Other than that though, it was a blast.
  20. Effigy, eh? Yeah, nothing burns like an effigy...
  21. COOPERED! (Just kidding, I love ya Cecil. Just not for the next few games.)

  23. I'm too lazy to link to it, but the Wikipedia article on Step by Step states that the shoreline was superimposed. There's really a parking lot there.
  24. What the? How the? Why the? Did we just get Yosted? Obviously you want to have a full bench for extra innings instead of making an honest effort to take the lead.
