  1. I need (and want) to get out west. http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=t&chs=440x220&chtm=usa&chf=bg,s,336699&chco=cc0000&chd=s:99999999999999999999999&chld=MDWIMNILSDMIINOHNYPAKYTNNCSCGAALFLIANECOAZMOVA visited 23 states (46%) Create your own visited map of The United States or determine the next president
  2. I think there should be something up for each postseason appearance. I was happy when the Bucks put up banners for all their division champions a few years ago, and I think the Brewers should do the same thing, if only to replace that horrible looking '82 flag out in LF. I think there should be four banners/flags/whatever, two for 1982 (division and league champs), one for 1981, and one for 2008. I've noticed that other teams hang separate banners for winning the division, pennant, and World Series, so why not us too? Plus it will please the segment of the organization that likes to glorify the '82 team, since those guys will have two banners. 1981 AL East Second Half Champs (Royal Blue) <---- that's a lot of words, I know...maybe someone can come up with something a little less clunky. 1982 AL East Champs (Royal Blue) 1982 AL Champs (Gold) 2008 NL Wild Card (Navy Blue) If/when we win the division, we can hang another one in navy blue, if/when we win the pennant, we can hang one in the team's current shade of gold, and if/when we win the World Series, we can hang one in white.
  3. Ugh, there's already two comments on TH's blog about how we should get Brenly because he's a "media-savvy" manager. I reeeeaaalllly don't want Brenly.
  4. Regularly - Fire Joe Morgan and Deadspin (although Deadspin is not just a baseball blog) Semi-Regularly - Bugs and Cranks and Fire Ned Yost
  5. While I don't disagree with either managerial decision the Brewers have made this year (firing Yost and not bringing back Sveum), I don't particularly like the way either of those decisions have gone down. Firing a guy who owns a tie for the wild card lead with 12 games left in the season made good sense to all of us, but left the rest of baseball wondering if the Brewers were insane. And while not bringing back Sveum is a good decision, I don't think this was the right way to go about it either. How hard is it to wait until you've hired someone and then make a statement saying, "We interviewed a lot of good candidates, but in the end, we felt that _____________ (Davey Johnson I hope) was the best fit for this job. We wish all the other candidates the best of luck in their baseball futures." or something like that? The way it was done just seems kind of cold, and yes I know it's a competitive business, but you're still looking for red-blooded humans to fill those positions. I would have much rather had the Brewers announce who they've hired and let us all know from that that Sveum was not their man, rather than kind of single him out as someone who is not fit for the position before they've even picked a manager. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the Brewers have hurt their reputation among baseball front office/managerial types over the last month or so.
  6. "You have been cuckolded by a more dominant male." I think I'm most interested in seeing how the Dwight/Angela/Andy thing plays out this season.
  7. Wow. We were pretty good back in the day, but we never had the cash for 400 rolls. Impressive.
  8. I'll be tailgating up a storm in the Bluemound lots, then up in 425, row 6.
  9. Can't think of a better person to start this thread--this is definitely the coolest thread in BF.net history, at least for me. I'm jacked that it's officially Yovanni. If he can throw like he did on Thursday, things will be looking up. Can't wait for Wednesday!
  10. I'll be in the Terrace, wearing my lucky powder blue Molitor jersey (worn for the Fielder and Braun walk-off games this week). Let's go CC!

  12. Stanley is my hero...I'm just going to take 5 days off anyway. Also, there's no way in the world Dunder-Mifflin would let Michael contract Ryan as a temp again after he committed fraud as an executive with their company.
  13. I am entirely convinced that the Mets are going to win tomorrow. I really don't know about us. CC has been rather mortal against the Cubs so far (not that he's pitched badly, but he hasn't stuck it to them like he has to every other team). Our lineup is entirely capable of scoring 10 runs or being no-hit. Our closer suddenly can't be trusted, especially against the Cubs. And if it comes down to game 163, we're starting a 22 year old coming off of two knee surgeries who's pitching on the road on short rest. So yeah, basically I'm terrified.
  14. Bold prediction: we will look back on this the same way we look back on Ned Yost's home run against Boston in 1982. Except, you know, Prince doesn't suck at baseball and we won't hate him for being a crappy manager 26 years from now.
  15. Prince vs. a righty...come on big boy.
  16. Ugh, a Brewer flailing at an outside slider. Darn.
  17. Alright Crazy Joe Dillon...let's get it done.
  18. If the Mets lose tonight, we will be 1 game back with 7 home games to play. I have been as pissed off/despondent as anybody over the last few weeks, but IMO, anything other than enthusiasm and support tomorrow night will be incredibly lame. I don't think I'd feel this way if we hadn't started to show a few signs of life on Sunday, and maybe I'm letting one game influence me too much, and maybe this is all just a classic Godfather "Just when I think I'm out, the pullll me back in!" moment, but come on. One game back with 7 home games left against the Pirates and Cubs...how can you not throw one last burst of support behind the team?
  19. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. On Thursday, I was able to laugh instead of get murderously angry when the phrase "Wild Card" was uttered. My sister got me the British Office last spring for my birthday. On her recommendation, I watched it through with the subtitles on. I dunno, I didn't think it messed up the comedy for me at all. I thought they were great. I do think I would have been lost without the subtitles though. I've been thinking about pulling the DVDs out again...maybe I'll try them without the subtitles this time, now that I have a general idea of what's being said.
  20. The no-hitter thing doesn't really bother me at all. We're not catching the Cubs anyway, so I really don't care what they do, and it's not like any Brewer pitchers will be throwing no-nos at MP anytime soon anyway. Tonight sucks because the Brewers suck, plain and simple.
  21. A preliminary rant on game 2...I would say that I can't believe we're using the same lineup as game 1 if it weren't so easy to believe that we're using the same lineup as game 1. I don't care if we score 11 runs tonight, it is completely ridiculous and insane to have Kendall catching 18 innings on the same day (not to mention having his bat in the lineup for 18 innings on the same day).
  22. Well, if something doesn't work once, just go right ahead and blindly try the same thing again. Are we SURE that's the game 2 lineup and not just a reprint from game 1? It boggles my mind that Kendall is playing again and that Counsell is in there against a lefty. Which of course means that this must be the lineup Ned's putting out there.
