  1. I thought the same thing. I hope that doesn't end up being used as a "loophole" to bring him back like nothing happened.
  2. I laughed pretty hard at some parts. The meeting with Wallace was hilarious. Dwight's "horse boat" idea was the best.
  3. Would they have this for the PS2 version too? The roster file at least? I know my PS2 has USB drives...
  4. I'd second that recommendation - tons of great recipes in there, especially for making your own marinades and rubs. They've even got good stuff for sides and desserts too. I love grilling season...just grilled up some giant chicken legs with a barbecue rub last night. Mmmm....
  5. Resurrecting this thread after seeing the picture gallery on jsonline today...look up above the foul pole in picture #6...maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me, but it seems like it's not the same old '82 flag that's up there anymore. In addition, it looks like something has been added off to the left. Maybe I'm wrong, but it caught my eye. Has anyone heard anything more on this, or been in the park lately to see anything (ushers, vendors, etc.)? http://www.jsonline.com/multimedia/photos/40852097.html?c=y&index=6&page=0
  6. Very cool screenshots. Miller Park finally actually looks like Miller Park. Does anyone out there have the PS2 version? I can't afford a PS3 right now. I remember with MLB '07, the PS2 version didn't have any of the new features that were part of the PS3 version, it was basically just a roster update of the game from a year before. Is that still the case this year? If they have the 40-man stuff on the PS2 version, I might have to go pick it up. EDIT: never mind, I don't think the game has come out yet. Anyway, when it does come out, if someone could post a review of the PS2 version, that would be great.
  7. I don't mind low-scoring basketball if it's well played - teams sharply executing a Princeton-style offense or playing great, lock-you-down defense. But no matter how people try to spin this one, this was just horrible offense, not great defense. Games like that are not fun to watch. Sadly, I think more and more of the Big Ten games like this are trending towards the "horrible offense" variety rather than the "excellent defense" variety.
  8. Joe Morgan cannot understand why Billy Beane had to go and make this movie. He's already giving it two thumbs down.
  9. I agree, And That, this episode was classic Dwight. "If you're trying to hurt my feelings, you've succeeded. Fortunately, my feelings regenerate themselves at twice the rate of a normal man's." None of the really weird stuff, just Dwight thinking he's superhuman again. Also, the "Mose doesn't even know how to use the phone" line killed me. I would love to see how Dwight and Mose interact with each other on the beet farm (when it's just them) sometime.
  10. It is your birthday.
  11. I agree with Hardy7 about Chloe...the more you watch her, the more you will appreciate her. I loved it when she tasered that guy a couple of seasons ago. I agree that the Secret Service agent was very obviously a mole for the "evil Africa group" that we met in Redemption. It also seems pretty obvious that the President's aide (Ethan, I think?) is the "person close to the president" that's working for them (it's so obvious to me that I'm wondering if they're setting us up, like a couple years ago when it looked like the VP was evil and it ended up being President Logan.) I didn't understand the silent clock. The FBI agent seems like a pretty major character, so I can't imagine that they're killing her off this early. Plus, they've never used a silent clock for someone who wasn't a "main" character, IIRC.
  12. They're showing the Game 5 of the 1989 ALCS right now...the one where Canseco hit one into the fourth deck at the Skydome. Man, I forgot how good the old A's teams were. There's two more games from the late 80s/early 90s on tonight, which I love because that's the era when I really started watching a lot of baseball. So far, this network is very solid. I can see myself watching nothing but this and the NFL network (when I'm not watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
  13. I'm a big fan of all-time saves leaders playing for Milwaukee. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bpv/images/d/d2/Fingersrollie.jpg Just watch your elbow, Trevor. Oh, and pay your taxes. Welcome aboard!
  14. I'll give you another recommendation for Kessler's--they were great for me and two of my buddies. I've taken my wife's ring in to be cleaned and re-rhodiumed a few times now and it's always free. Last time, I sent my ring along to be cleaned and dipped as well and because they couldn't completely shine up mine they way that they usually do with rings (something about the hammered pattern on my band), they offered to give me a brand new ring, same style, for no charge. I passed on their offer (sentimental fool I guess, plus my wife seemed happy that I did) but I was impressed nonetheless.
  15. I "struck out" the first batter I ever faced in Little League on one pitch. I usually played first base, but this game didn't count (the other team didn't have enough players show up, so we divided the kids who were there into two equal teams), so our coach let anyone who felt like pitching throw an inning. The first batter, a righty, stepped up, I threw a pitch with some funky tailspin on it that must've looked so fat and tantalizing as it swept away from the hitter, because he stepped out of the batter's box, over home plate, and into the other batter's box to swing at it. He missed and was called out for stepping out of the box. I rode the euphoria of my one-pitch punchout to a scoreless inning, but never pitched again.
  16. I've never played OOTP before but really want to pick up a copy after reading about it here and checking out their website. Should I get OOTP 9 for cheap or will there be an OOTP 10 coming out shortly after New Year's that I should just be patient and wait for?
  17. I love Adblock Plus (goodbye, stupid auto-play video on espn.com). I also like ForecastFox - it gives you the current weather, next day forecast, and alerts down at the bottom of your window.
  18. I thought it was a great episode. My wife had just groaned "Oh Phyllis!" when she acted like the meek and old Phyllis and backed down from Angela at the end, and we both loved it when she immediately turned around and outed Dwight and Angela. Dwight's "don't look so surprised" line was by far the best of the episode, although I enjoyed the "orange vod-juice-ka" bit as well.
  19. I'd second the recommendation for Nine Innings. I read it for the first time this summer and it was great. Ron Luciano's second book, Strike Two, was very funny as well. Both of those books are 25 years old or so, but still make for good reading.
  20. Did you hear about the end of the Arizona game? They lost to UAB after committing two intentional fouls in the last 30 seconds of a *tie* game! The first one came right after AZ had tied the game - they immediately fouled the player who caught the inbounds pass. UAB missed the free throws, Arizona missed a shot that would have put them ahead, and then with 0.8 seconds left, an AZ player dove at the legs of the UAB ballhandler....near half court. He was called for a foul and instead of almost certain overtime, Arizona lost by one after the UAB player hit one of his free throws. Yikes. Stupidity on the basketball court doesn't get much worse than that!
  21. I recall reading that the Prison Break writers had designed the show to run for three seasons when they originally conceived it. Obviously some changes have been made. The first season was outstanding--my favorite show at the time. I got behind in my watching some time during the second season and haven't picked it up since, mostly because I've been too busy. I'd like to pick up the DVDs and "catch up" some time, but I'm disappointed to hear that the show has dropped off. Scrubs was great until they decided to make all the characters over-the-top. JD went from being "quirky and a little nerdish" to "flamboyant," Elliot went from being "a little crazy" to "completely insane," and so on. The season finale last year was kind of lame, although I read that it wasn't intended to be the season finale, but NBC wanted it that way, so they showed it out of order with the other episodes. I will watch the episodes on ABC just to see how it wraps up.
  22. I wanted them to lose so badly. I have an irrational hate for Duke but I can't seem to figure out how I came to hate them to much. I think it intensified with the media love fest for JJ Redick and Greg Paulus. I don't think Duke has the talent to be Top Tier team this year. Brain Zoubek is just not any good. Scherer and Singler are 2 solid players but they shouldn't be anywhere near the ACC all conference picks. Zoubek sucks. I'm really not sure why he was recruited to Duke in the first place. The game just seems to move too fast for him. Scheyer is a nice player, but if he's your second-best player, you're probably not going to the Final Four. I think Singler is better than you give him credit for. I was surprised to see how much he's bulked up since last year. I think he's really going to be a dangerous player, and fits the Ferry/Laettner/McLeod/Battier mold of Duke forwards who can hurt teams from inside and out. The problem is that he's going to have to play a ton of minutes every game. That really wore him down last year and I could see the same thing happening this year.
  23. This is a real downer...FJM was one of my favorite sites. I loved the snarky humor.
  24. I thought Ryan trying to do one-handed pushups in Kelly's "nook" was hysterical.
  25. The Onion's podcasts are pure genius. They are a regular on my iTunes and iPod. I find myself watching them at least twice--once for the main part, and once to see all the headlines they have scrolling across the bottom of the screen (although not all of their podcasts have these).
