    I think the Brewers should and will make moves that are for the now and later, not just go all in for this year on a player with a bloated 1 year deal. Can Black play 3B long term in MLB? If so, there is a whole filled at least for now. Otherwise 2B? If we don't fill 1B then there he is. We shall see.

    Somebody obviously at some point will indeed be traded, a younger guy like Wiemer likely part of a package. The guy to move, if at all possible, is Yelich. If you can get a reasonable return without eating bulk money. Again, if you can't trade Yelich maybe it's as simple as moving him to 1st base if he can play there) and/or DH. Even then one of the young guns could go in a trade as deep as they are.

    Risk, but with risk can come great reward. Good for the kid and good for the team. Now let's see if we can get a windfall for Burnes and Adames (if not before the season then during) and add some key pieces for the now and for the future through trades and key FA signings.

    I believe the team needs to make moves that help in certain areas this year but with the eye on the future. Burnes and Adames do not appear to be in our future. But what you're proposing is a bottom out rebuild, granted the recovery could be fairly swift. I think unless they don't get great offers for Adames and Burnes they absolutely need to move them now. With an eye towards the near future. No fire sale of course. If they don't get offered enough start the season with them but keep talking. We NEED to get value return for both of them. I would not trade Williams now unless blown away by a way above value offer.

    IF Taylor has a great spring start him in right field with Yelich either traded or he going to 1st base. With Mitchell and Frelick joining Taylor in the outfield we have a strong defensive set there who hopefully would all bring it at the plate. Perkins can be the 4th with Weimer back to Triple A to work on his plate approach. Best case scenario for me. We need to spend for a 3rd base bat and a veteran starting pitcher if we are to compete. I am assuming Burnes is traded, and I see Adames likely gone as well.

    I mean Hoskins would make sense but only if the team believed their aim was to contend seriously for the division long term. I think it makes more sense to move Yelich (if not traded) to 1st if he can play there opening up an outfield spot for our young guns there.

    Makes sense, at least in the short term. Weeks have it in him to be manager some day? I question his ability to communicate well with staff and players but maybe he's grown while in the front office. Erickson having managed at some level makes more sense to me, but coming right from the front office worked with CC I guess.

    There are a lot of ways the Brewers can go, you illustrate much of that. I think the trades of Adames and or Burnes if they happen will do more about the future than the right now. We will bring in top level prospects, some may be close to MLB ready. The Brewers can still compete for the division by trading those two. They'd want to sign a prominent veteran pitcher of their own and likely another one and then sign or trade for a bat. Third base for example. Then move Yelly to 1st. The owner is going to have to spend more money on payroll in this scenario.

    You bring him back, no doubt about it. A lot hinges on the Burnes sign or trade, but either way Houser is back. Possibly traded at some point, but not released.

    The Brewers offered Adames an extension last year which he turned down. If enough is offered for him in the off season he should be traded now. Not on the cheap, I mean top return. Otherwise you bring him back and see how it goes. Times that by 3 for Burnes.

    I hear words like betrayal and anger being tossed around. Really? I can see shocked and disappointed sure but beyond that? If the Brewers had told him 5.5 was all they would pay no wonder he left. If they said give us a chance to match and he didn't that's a little different but would have we? Bottom line is the baby bears have a far greater potential in terms of payroll and thus roster than the Brewers do. CC wants a World Series win, and to compete at that level long term. If you want to blame someone blame ol Bud Selig. He sold out MLB to the big city owners and the union. He then got to sit on the lap of the big city owners and make millions himself. MLB should have a system of parity like the NFL has, where ALL teams play by the same set of rules and cap. The Angels have more revenue than the Brewers have just in TV contracts without selling one ticket or one hot dog. Then you have the Mets and the Braves and the Yankees and the Dodgers and yes the Cubs. It is an unfair playing field. Thanks Bud, enjoy your millions with what time you have left. THAT is your legacy. I don't want a re-tread for a manager. Bring in a younger and hungry guy who can develop talent. I like the Dodgers 1st base coach or one of the hitting coaches being mentioned. I'd interview Ross too in the least.

    It really hinges on Burnes. If they retain him for now, they still will want to add a starting arm. If Burnes is traded before the season then we spend more on a veteran arm. If we are to compete this year we also need to add a bat. Or two. Burnes, Adames, Yelich, and potential trades of them will determine what happens with any FA signings.

    It all hinges on what the Brewers do with Burnes and Adames. I would trades either and both if I got the haul I wanted, I would keep either or both if I didn't. They will continue to have value throughout the year. The package around Perdomo would have to be awfully strong and sweet for me to give Burnes for a deal with him in it.

    No. Canha will be back and can play 1st. If they don't find a suitable trade partner for Yelich maybe he could play 1st? We are loaded in young outfielders, and the best of the bunch may earn a call up later in the year to boot. Sure we could be trading one in a package somewhere but I think with this team and our limited payroll the future has to be considered here. The big questions are concerning Burnes and Adames, and in a different light Woody. Yelich as well.

    A very good problem to have soon, with our starting MLB catcher young and under team control for a while and this prospect quickly rising. Quero likely will never back up at the MLB level for any length of time, he needs to play every day at this point. When truly ready we could see a platoon between the two for a bit, until one is traded for a nice haul.

    Frelick is a natural lead off hitter. If I were to include one of my 3 young outfielders in a trade (Weimer, Frelick, Mitchell) Frelick would be off limits. The guy I would quietly be trying to move is Yelich. Adames and Burnes need to go, and the return for the two of them big. Of course, what drives a trade involving any of them is return in the end. Not enough return, no trade. With no Burnes and Woody in the lineup next year for us we need to bring back Miley to go with what we already have in the mix (or will have) (Peralta, Houser, Gasser, Ashby, Rea) and add a proven veteran starter. And a slugger, if we are to compete next year.

    If it's money pay the man. It's likely something else if CC leaves us. I think both sides want it settled soon, if he leaves the Brewers need to get in the mix and get their guy.

    I liked the 3rd baseman taken right after Wilken better, but considering the money involved and what the Brewers were able to do with it a great pick it was. Wilken at the same time has exceeded my best expectations. Looks like a home run potential here, pun intended.

    Again, a player with obvious hit tools who simply needs to continue to grow and take steps if he is to ever become a MLB player. Much less a MLB star. A lot to like at this point, I think it likely he stays in Appleton all next year or maybe making it to AA very late and only if they have the need.

    Seems to have a text book and effortless swing, the potential jumps out. Now grow it. We shall see.

    Great write up on a player who I expect to end up next year at Double A. He seems advanced and baseball mature in so many ways. I see more of a 3rd base stick than 2nd, if he stays infield.

    The trade of Hader was simply very bad timing, but a great trade in the long term picture. Essentially Contreras, Payamps, and Gasser for Hader and what was left of his contract. Great trade for Milwaukee. Now we need the same magic in the trades we will make in the off season.
