  1. One of my very favorite Brewers. He hasn't hit his ceiling by a long shot at the plate and what a defender. Looking at our farm clubs and looking at the Brewers roster several years down the road not many present position players are on it. I think Sal is and Chorio of course. I hope Turang too.
  2. You guys are killing it, GREAT stuff here! Seigler is my new favorite on the watch prospect....
  3. Great stuff and the only way many of us can follow these multiple prospects. Keep it coming!
  4. Great writeup. It is so difficult to project long term for such a young player like Lara but the tools are obviously there. Dinges is one to watch for sure, if they can make a MLB catcher out of him, and he has the arm, they may really have a draft steal there. Flores I know the least about but he looks like he's on the way.
  5. Good breakdown. We need his glove out there and improved consistency at the plate is much needed. Question is how much time will he need in the minors to get the rust off once he's cleared and for how long can he stay healthy?
  6. That certainly is amusing. The team (small market teams) needs to move older players on short or bad contracts. We need to build around our players who can be controlled long term and I don't think that contract shows any signs of being bad.
  7. Hopefully if he stays healthy Woody remembers the Brewers when his next contract is up....
  8. Any team trading for him is obviously a contender this year and likely a perennial contender. In that event, Yeli would go.
  9. If Ortiz continues to struggle at the plate he may need to go to Nashville for a while and not for the music. Hate to tear up the middle infield defense right now but move Durbin to 2nd and Turang to SS and bring up Wilkin to play 3rd. Just a thought, they need to do something.
  10. Hopefully he gets hot at the plate between now and trade deadline. He would be hard to move and we'd have to eat some of that bloated contract, but he's hurting us now and in the future. Small market teams are not in a position to absorb this hit. I'm sure the hitting coaches and Yeli are working on options at the plate but it doesn't seem to bring any kind of consistency no matter what they do.
  11. It is something to re-visit in July. I don't think the Brewers trade any of their core players before they have a better idea of where this season is going.
  12. Ortiz still a young player and I expected him to make a step this year. He did, backwards.
  13. We gave up a LOT for him, but the upside is there. Bit of a gamble, let's see if it pays off. It could.
  14. IL him and bring him back when the finger is healed. You've got to do what is best for the team. We have a very good backup catcher and a young guy we can bring up to back up.
  15. Really good write up and spot on. Durbin may be a long term ascending player and the power down the road will improve as he gets more comfortable and matures.
  16. If Ortiz can not go back to the batting stance he had before (or one that will produce like it did) he might very well find himself out of MLB before all too long. What he is producing now is simply not going to be sufficient. He is biding our time until Cooper Pratt is ready. If it's another year so be it, but if someone gets hot at the plate and can play middle infield it may be sooner than later.
  17. Leave Pratt for now, he needs a little more development time. By the end of the year that may become a necessity. You hope Ortiz comes around and watch closely who is hitting the ball among the more veteran players at Triple or Double. Shuffle as needed, but Montasterio is not a long term answer. I doubt he's a short term answer as a starter. Durbin can always move to 2nd with Turang at short if we can find that 3rd base hitter from inside or out. I would not rule out a trade, and possibly a big one involving prospects. A ready prospect to us for a couple not ready for prime time high prospects of ours type of thing.
  18. Haven't totally given up on him. There's still a chance he will start living up to his contract in the present, there's sure no making up for the past since his big signing. Hopefully it's not the case but if we end up sellers at trade deadline he would be on the top of my list of one I'd try to move if he was doing well enough to move.
  19. The balance and lack of parity in MLB is that unfair, it's blaringly obvious. Not by this sweep, anyone can get swept on a given period of time. But in roster, roster recovery, and of course total payroll. Small market teams like the Brewers are just Triple A Plus teams for the big market teams to feast on. It will remain that way until the fans join with small market owners and demand change. Apathy is king and the big market teams and union power trolls know it.
  20. The way Capra has been hitting the ball so far they may have to find a spot for him. When the big lights go on such a hot streak tends to dip but he's one to watch. If both Durbin and Dunn hit the ball well thru this month a platoon for the start makes sense. Hopefully somebody wins an every day job at the hot corner sooner rather than later.
  21. Can't believe I saw Hunt pitch in Appleton last year and he is a legit mention in this comparison. We do have a nice mix, though of more recent times Rodriguez is starting to give me some reason to doubt his ultimate potential.
  22. Like it. Might want to start Ashby at AAA but he likely won't be long away from the big club. We seem to have a little depth to work with....
  23. Nothing has been screwed up with Black. He is what he is. Was maybe the prospect expectations a little high more so as the years have now gone by? If he hits well enough they will find a spot for him. I see him as a trade package add on at this point...
  24. I'd really like to see Yelli DH almost exclusively, basically your 4th outfielder who otherwise DH's. Likely won't happen any time soon...
