  1. All Brady does is get on base! Did anyone else notice this week that the Mets' leadoff man Reyes is carrying a sparkling .300 OBP right now?
  2. Well, that's a strong statement. 'Easily', no less. Yeah hilarious. Who would you rather have, Kris Benson? Good Lord, the man gives up homers to Beltran and Piazza and it's like we're throwing Quevedo back out there again. There was a time not terribly long ago when Rafael Roque started Opening Day for this team... All that said these guys tend to give leads back the next half-inning more than just about any staff I can remember watching (maybe it's because the Crew is actually -getting- the leads in the first place). Something has changed about Davis, he is not attacking the strike zone to say the least,
  3. Ugh, noooo! And the stupid apple, no less.
  4. I think in the 5th of a 2-run game with "Johnny Wholestaff" on the mound, you save the best PH for a potential men-on-base situation later in the game.
  5. Way to get the job done, Dana. Nice D there at 1st, if not particularly graceful. scoop, you really think it's become unwatchable? Because they stopped hitting 2 HRs per inning? Lots of strikeouts, but they do still have the lead... Of course, if you're watching on mlb.tv, go ahead and turn it off so I can have a little more bandwidth... thanks in advance... Edit: I meant "graceful," not "grateful." Freudian slip?
  6. 3 PAs, 3 TOs for Bran Yan. HR has to be next, right?
  7. Zambrano has given up fully 40% of his 2005 HR total in this 1+ inning. Edit: he drills Rickie, and it's thanks for the memories, Victor?
  8. I'm watching the Mets broadcast here.. looks like Lehr was up by himself, not Helling... anyway, sheesh, we're out of that inning at least. I guess Ohka's on a short leash, which is good... Edit: Wow! Bran Yan Can Cook! That was a mammoth shot.
  9. The middle of the lineup coming through there. Keep it up, guys...
  10. For those of you not listening to Bob & Jim tonight... After the ballboy made the leaping grab of that line drive foul, Powell was complimenting him on it and asking around the booth what his name was, and someone suggested it was Antone Williamson. Good stuff, and probably the highlight of the last three games for me (sigh.)
  11. bjamesw22, by the logic in that last post, you would bunt with the #8 hitter every time a man is on 1st. Think about it this way. If the pitcher has a, say, 90% chance of making an out, and the #8 guy bunts, basically guaranteeing an out, you make two outs anyway. Even Dusty Baker wouldn't bunt in that situation.
  12. Heh! FSN Midwest (STL feed on mlb.tv) just showed a highlight reel from one year ago tonight, which was Zambrano's meltdown against Edmonds. Good, family entertainment there. Unfortunately, it also kicks off another night of overrated Joe Buck and the Mad Hungarian...
  13. Powell says about 30,000 in the house today.
  14. Jayson Stark take note- I do believe Stanton got the loss there without throwing a pitch. Weird game, but entertaining as all get out. 4 in a row... Edit: Ando, I think they called the balk because of where Stanton's foot was on the rubber. He kicked to wind up, then went to first. It looked like he had Weeks picked off badly, but then the 1B ump called the balk.
  15. Well, so much for that great bullpen. I think Santana's career year ran from May through June of 2005. Ugh, what a frustrating way to waste such an awesome start by the Sharpie.
  16. What on earth was Jenkins thinking? On replay: What on earth was Donnelly thinking?
  17. Nuts! C'mon Rickie, got to get to first on that one.
  18. Father and son Caray on Rickie Weeks: he's got some trouble learning the major league strike zone, but he can do it all defensively, very strong defender up the middle. That's pretty much 100% wrong... nonetheless there are far more annoying announcers in the game, I suppose.
  19. Well, I'm already sick of the tomahawk chop chant, how about you all?
  20. Wes Obermueller and Jorge de la Rosa may never pitch again. That said, I'll take Wise over Phelps or Santana. Get Cappy out now!
  21. Not noted in thread: Beckett strained oblique muscle Not blisters... this time.
  22. MLB.TV working for me, first time since Rickie's first homer. Grandpa Al Leiter: As left-handed pitchers go, a great announcer. Early 4-run lead, Capuano is cruising; So far, outstanding.
  23. Anyone with more time on their hands than I have care to look up the Crew's record when Uke sings at Wrigley?
  24. Here's that shot of Mitre: http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/4449/mitre5gq.png Hmm. Uke is in fine form today. He riffed on some Usinger's contest involving MP3s, having no idea what MP3s are.
