  1. Wow. What a bizzare story. Not sure what would make TH react like this, but I have noticed Bedard getting snippy in his chats with posters so maybe there is a bit of a dislike for Wisconsin sport fans among these guys and they go to the bar together after work telling each other how all the wis fans are morons. I am sure guys who reach where they are in their jobs have a certain bit of arrogance and when pounded by fans constantly about every opinion they write it wears them down, especially when they do write dumb stuff and get called on it by the very homers they are privately putting down. Who knows, maybe Tom likes to have a few beers now and then and doesn't know better than to stay off the computer. I know I have been guilty of a few drunken rants in my time. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Looks like a tall order today with the young phenom coming on and Suppan overdue to get shellacked. But this team has been remarkably resilient so I won't count him out. Boy it would be big to get out of this trip 4-2, they are all big now but with the Cards coming on the Crew needs to keep rolling and a win today would give them momentum going home.
  3. I'll be sleeping long before this one is over but is 3 consecutive solid starts too much to ask of Suppan? When was the last time that happened?
  4. Just out of curiosity, why would Braun be put on waivers? Is there an advatage to doing so with his injury?
  5. The continued disgusting offense by this team may bring it down. It is getting bizarre how poor they are with RISP. I guess we will have to hope for a solo HR. As usual.
  6. Yeah it's right up there with Hall's craptacular a bat the inning before. Man I thought Kapler had a hit. Bad vibes for this one now.
  7. Ok so what are we at about 2 for the last 50 with RISP? It wouldn't be so bad but in some of these games we are getting 10-12 hits but none with RISP. I am sure some will say it is a statistical anomaly but I don't know, I think it is in their heads right now and they are choking.
  8. The Brewers were very lucky that trhis funk went without damage so far. It says alot about how good the pitching has been. But yeah Hart's horrendous series and that unbelievable 0-21 or whatever needs to turn around at home.
  9. On his double he didn't see the ball get away from the RF and was duped by the 2B when he should of been looking ot his 3B coach. At least that's the way the cardinal annoucers saw it and they certainly had the video to back it up. He could have got to third easily and would have scored on the Braun grounder. It happens, just a costly mental error early.
  10. Weeks needs to keep his head in the game, nothing like giving away a run in the top of the first with CC pitching.
  11. As much as I hate to see the Brewers giving up prospects I have to agree that with Sheets leaving this is the season to make a run. This teams is flawed, I still think the bullpen is below average and our offense continues to avoid reaching it's high potential, but the opportunity is there and after a 25+ year drought the fans deserve a shot. I am not up on prospects like some here(reading the power 50 is as far as I go) but Laporta and Green seem like a fair deal and I would go higher if they would send a quality reliever in the deal. They could still fall on their faces with CC but as someone just posted the trade would energise the fans and team. Plus after coming home from work and watching that debacle yesterday I really need something to get positive about with this team.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. If this is the fire yost thread I am in. This team stinks and all players seem to be perfoming worse than you would expect. Even if it isn't Ned's fault the team needs a shakeup and Yost hardly seems like the type we are going to regret firing. I liked Yost for awhile but I think with mangers the message can get stale after awhile and the players stop responding. I know Melvin will wait until we bottom out but the smart move is to shake things up right now IMO.
  13. We suck. 2 hits tonight and maybe this belongs in the vent thread but I don't think so. Winning all the xtra inning games early in the season masked it but our big hitters aren't all that and guys like weeks and hardy are just plain bad major leaguers right now. The bullpen is even worse than last year and our starters without Yo are below average. I see this as a 75 win team right now, the offense will pick up eventually but not enough to overcome the bad pitching. Watching Gange on Sunday afternoon was the most depressing Brewer game I watched in years, THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO against him. He flat out does not have the action on his breaking stuff anymore and no one respects it. 10 million down the tubes, I could care less about the money except I am sure Ned will stick with him and make us suffer.
  14. Who knows how damaging this injury could be to Yo? It is not his arm but it goes without saying that any major leaguer needs healthy knees to play and these injuries can take as much as 2 years to work themselves out. I was worried about losing Ben before but now that we don't have the second ace I agree with the orginal poster that Sheets now seems very key to our future. Every quality rotation needs a power ace and without Sheets we better cross our fingers that Parra pans out big time or we will have a mediocre rotaion backing up all these hitting studs. But the reality is Sheets is a goner, there is just no way we can compete with the big boys who won't bat an eye on a 5+ year risk with Sheets.
  15. Weeks is a freaking run machine, I know runs don't factor into most of the BillJames stats that people love but he seems to a have an extraodinary abilty to get on and then score for whatever reason. He could set a run record if he stays healthy with the sticks behind him. I was one who questioned his future as a leadoff hitter considering his power potential but he belongs there. Yost may have got it right by hitting Kendall 9th, it wouldn't work on all teams but it should maximize Rickie's effectiveness. Edit: 192 runs is the MLB record, no way Rickie or anyone else likely touches that anytime soon.
  16. Well I live in Florida and would be thrilled if the Brewers moved here. As far as "rain covering the entire state for days" I can tell you that it rains alot but never in the steady all day kind of thing that people in the midwest have to deal with sometimes. It is always scattered. We had rain for about 3 straight hours yesterday in Ft Lauderdale and that was highly unusual. It seems to me that most games would be able to be played, you just have to wait for the rain to pass every now and then. Arizona has better weather but as others have pointed out there is A LOT more to do here, the beach alone would make it a more attractive destination to me.
  17. Anyone else think the loss of Sheets has had an effect way beyond the every 5 day thing? The pitching has been a disaster and I wonder if removing the one power pitcher we had from the rotiation has made our pitching worse Now we have nothing but soft tossers out there and it is easy for teams to get into a groove against us.. I am guessing this has been brought up here before but man our pitching has STUNK almost from the day Ben went down. (added tag --1992)
  18. What's funny is none of us think there is a prayer the crew can come back. Yet if we were up by 3 runs we would be sweating bullets and rightfully so. Early in the year it seemed we were never out of it. Just when was the last time we came from behind after say the 5th inning and won?
  19. I don't remember when having a closer blow a 2 run lead in the 9th in a game we once led 6-0 was fun even back in 82. But I know what you are saying, it's just that after so many years of losing we expect them to let us down and lately it is starting to appear that they just might do that. There is still time for them to turn it aournd though, and as endder said we just haven't won one of these type games that we are losing so reguraly lately. The cynic in me is saying that this team is choking a bit but I am sure the stat guys would tell me there are ups and dows in every season, even for good teams.
  20. "That was like watching a prevent defense in football. One hit in the last six innings!! You've got to be kidding me" What is especially frustrating is you have a chance to pound there bullpen, Falkenborg was going to have to stay out there and take a beating, but you let them off the hook. Now the team has to go there again in a couple of hours after that debacle. They will probably get shutout tonight.
  21. "Is it just me, or have we lost A LOT more games like this than we've won?" No, we have. In fact we could all feel it coming when the team put up 6 straight 0's after it was 6-0. It seems like this team keeps hitting bottom but then a couple of days later it gets worse. We traded away a top prospect so we wouldn't have bullpen meltdowns down the stretch and here we are blowing 2 late leads in 3 games. Closers are like kickers, never give them big money because they will ALWAYS break your heart eventually. It always feels worse right after a loss like this but this team just feels bad, maybe it is the pressure hurting a young team..
  22. Unbelievable, I know CV has been awesome but 3 straight walks with 2 outs? I don't even know what to say, it's a no brainer.
  23. Why in the hell do you let Mench hit against a RH down 1 FREAKING RUN??? HIS STELLAR DEFENSE?
  24. I'll give Yost credit for at least learning from his mistakes, he finally figured out when you get bad Tbow you take him out. Maybe a little late but that's a tough call, at least he didn't wait until it was 5-2.
  25. Is McClelland good buddies with Bannisters dad or something? I don't mind calls is they are consistent but sheesh Bush is not getting the calls Bannister is.
