  1. Wow, can the Giants be any worse on the basepaths? They are handing us this game.
  2. Weeks still without a run. And there you go Clancy! That one's on you.
  3. Can we seriously drop the discussion of what Parra is doing? Please? (I'm asking nicely.) It's only the third inning anyway.
  4. Ugh, Clancy! Why! And holy pantaloons Prince Fielder!
  5. Only four games in, I know, but he seems to have handled the pen very well so far this year. Now part of that may be do to the solid number of options he has available to him, but still, Nedly's done positive work in this area of the game. I thought it was really great yesterday to only use 3 pitchers in a game we had clearly won. Today, we pretty much have everyone available (except for Torres) if the game is close. Riske, Mota, Gagne and Turnbow all could pitch late innings today if needed. That's really nice.
  6. I wish him and his family the best as they fight this. Hopefully he can have a quick recovery. Link.
  7. Don't Major League teams take out insurance on their players? I remember hearing that Ben Sheets has an insurance policy on his contract. Did we have one on Cappy's too? If so, I imagine this opens up about $3 Million to be used at the trade deadline. If not, I guess we just have to eat his paycheck and move on. I feel terrible for Cappy, he was a solid pitcher, but had a lot of poor luck this last year. He'll most definitely be missed from our rotation. I am excited to see what Parra can do in the rotation.
  8. Ecuador. It's temperate year round. You get to see the toilets flush straight down. What else could a guy want?
  9. Wow. We are playing much better today. Much better shot selection, much better at taking care of the ball.
  10. Updated avatar for Menotti's viewing pleasure.
  11. Good thing that those CBS Executives spend time on Brewerfan. :-P
  12. I just want to say thank you again so much to Pedro for doing this. Due to a recent engagement I've been left with no money for tickets for the foreseeable future. It's nice to know that I at least have the chance of actually going to a game sometime.
  13. Just gonna say that Joey. Can we expand this boycott to include all of Fox's subsidiaries? Not that I'm going to watch Fox News anyway. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. My bracket isn't perfect (I've had three gaffs in USC, Temple, and Drake), but I did have San Diego winning their match up with Uconn. Which felt awesome after the Drake loss.
  15. Wow! What a finish!
  16. Both teams are in love with the NBA three.
  17. The offensive player was clearly out of control and had lowered his shoulder. That's a pretty fair call.
  18. Drake within one point with over a minute remaining. That ankd Kentucky not doing well with the FTs as a team. I like Drake's chances. Edit: Huge 3 to tie it! Wow, what a game! What an amazing comeback to not give up when being down by more than 16 with less than 10 min remaining. Edit2: Charge! Drake with the last shot to win it! Edit3: To Over Time. With all of the momentum and the fact that WK just lost Slaughter. Drake has to have the advantage in the extra period.
  19. Amazingly despite all of those turnovers, Davidson is till in the game. Tennessee is still making me nervous. Definitely not playing like a team with the #1 RPI.
  20. This morning is destroying my nerves. Drake is in my Sweet 16 Davidson is in my Sweet 16 Miami I had winning in the first round Tennessee is my Champion. Not looking good for those first three. And Tennessee is playing down to the level of American. Bleh.
  21. Butch has had like a dozen balls squirt through his fingers. For being an "All-American" he certainly doesn't have very good hands.
  22. Duke was so much more worthy of the 2 seed than the Badgers Let's go Belmont.
  23. Let's see, I'll begin with what I think our best rotation/bullpen would be, and then conclude with what I think it'll be come opening day. 1: Sheets 2: Gallardo 3: Villenueva 4: Suppan 5: Parra CL: Gagne SU: Riske MR: Turnbow MR: Torres MR: Mota Left: Shouse LR: Bush What will actually happen (on opening day): 1: Sheets 2: Suppan 3: Capuano 4: Bush 5: Villanueva CL: Gagne SU: Riske MR: Turnbow MR: Torres MR: Mota Left: Shouse LR: Vargas AAA: Parra DL: Gallardo (when Gallardo returns, Villanueva to AAA)
  24. Sheethead: "Rickie's OBP has never been around .400." After returning from AAA, last season Rickie put up the following OBP: In August .500 (no, that is no typo) In September .409 While repeating his August numbers may be a bit of a stretch. His September line of .245 .409 .571 he should be able to repeat. I should point out additionally, he has never come close to 200ks either. But my point doesn't change. As long as Rickie gets on base at a high clip, he can K all he wants and it won't seriously hurt our offensive production. Ks out of the lead off spot are much less harmful than in places in the lineup where runners are on base. I still am amazed at how much weight people put on the strike out stat, like it is the worst thing possible for a player to have. I'd rather have a K, than a 4-6-3 grounder any day of the week.
