  1. I think a separate "man crush" section (or "crush" section, if you're female) would be a nice feature. Branyan, Ginter, Mark Bellhorn, Brian Lesher, and others come to mind.
  2. Yeah, the problem with iPhone apps is that they're written in Objective-C, a language I don't know (and frankly, don't have time to learn... although it'd give me an excuse to buy an iPhone). Java, I know back and forth, so doing some Blackberry apps is a good idea. Windows Mobile is also coming out with a "marketplace" to sell apps to compete with the iPhone, and there's also the Android platform that Google is coming out with. I was thinking about writing some mobile apps for Brewerfan as sort of a test, so we'll see if it's my cup of tea. Thanks for the suggestion.
  3. It was just a 1/3 burger with blue cheese... then I added BBQ sauce, honey mustard, and a boatload of pickles.
  4. Went to FuddRucker's yesterday. Glorious as always. http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs038.snc1/3318_193138600367_624465367_6771933_7885079_n.jpg
  5. I'm not really a graphic artist sort of person. I do well with CSS and have a decent eye for design, but not so great at creating graphics from scratch. Does that help?
  6. I've been thinking about expanding my professional horizons a bit, and taking on some new work. A little background on me... I work full-time as a software developer (mostly websites, both private and public), specializing in Microsoft (.NET) and Java (J2EE or Grails) development. My "wheelhouse" is websites for small businesses, end-to-end (meaning from the front end all the way to the database and integration with other software packages). I figure that we have a pretty wide audience here, so perhaps you've been looking to get your feet wet with an internet presence but have no idea how to get started, and don't want to get ripped off by the proverbial "my friend knows a guy" guy http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. You would be surprised at the revenue you could generate or the money you could save by automating manual processes. Give me a shout if you're interested.... Here if you want an open discussion, PM me, or email me at webmaster@brewerfan.net ... Even if you think custom web development or system integration is completely out of your price range, I'll at least be able to give you a idea of what you might be able to do, and what you'd be dealing with price-wise. I'm currently looking to build up my portfolio a bit, so my rates are currently negotiable and will more than likely be very competitive.
  7. Nice. I forwarded the story on to a different Jim Powell.
  8. It's not like soccer's a real sport anyway. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/gizmodo/2009/05/kindle-dx-2-2009-05-04_22-17-39-rm-eng_2.jpg Looks like the "Kindle DX" is coming out soon. 9.7" screen and PDF support (yay). Hopefully the price isn't sky high, because this is exactly what I'm looking for.
  10. It's tough, tough work.
  11. Went to Mazo's today.... http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/phearinc/010.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/phearinc/011.jpg Got a burger with swiss, bacon, pickles, fried onions, brown mustard, and ketchup. I wasn't impressed. It was on par with getting a burger at the Cracker Barrel. It was dry, the bun was mediocre, and there was nothing really redeeming about it. The crinkle-cut fries had a decent seasoning salt added, but it just screamed "plain" to me. I'd give it a B-.
  12. My research also indicates that they are chauvinists. http://www.techdiversions.com/files/history/Ninja_Gaiden_NES_2.jpg
  13. Less likely. The Royals are one of those teams that perennially try to patch things together because they think they have a shot at the division.
  14. In case some of you who are on facebook aren't aware, Brewerfan.net has a facebook group. Why? I'm not exactly sure, but if you're interested, go ahead and join. It's always fun to see the nerd/geek/dweeb behind the screen name. Post your username on the wall if you want me to associate you as an "officer" (which basically just allows me to join the handle to your profile). EDIT: I do plan to add some facebook integration into the "new" Brewerfan.net, so I suppose there might be a value-add there.
  15. I live in the Carroll College area, and am pretty familiar with Waukesha. The area I live in is pretty nice, but a tad pricey (in retrospect, I might have made a slightly different housing situation). But, as a whole, even the "bad" parts of Waukesha are extremely safe, and probably very reasonable. Not very far from the freeway, and close to Brookfield, which is great for finding things to do.
  16. Ditto. As a developer, I can understand when errors will bubble to the surface, especially on sites that are free to the public... but when it's in the signup process, that's really rough.
  17. This is something I'm hoping to implement, and expand upon with upcoming pitchers as well.
  18. Well, they're probably noticing that a LARGE number of people are buying novelty-type shirts from non-official sources. There's a lot of money to be had.
  19. So, I did my research today, and finally stopped by Sobelman's. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/phearinc/002.jpg I don't think I'd call it the "best burger ever", but I'll give it a solid A. The bun's probably the best one I ever had, though... and I was amazed that I got there at just about 11am on the dot (when the joint opens), and it was already filling up quickly.
  20. Normally, I'd agree with you, but my wife's on steroids for an adrenal insufficiency, and she's immuno-compromised. It's a pretty scary thing for some people. EDIT: but on the funny side: http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/91515b489fd4481ecc3d245b78dcb4d50dd9dfe.jpg
  21. It's a smart move in general. You're going to attract some nice players to minor league deals that way, and you're going to get some love from other GM's (like when we acquired Branyan from Cinci, I believe) for selling or giving away a player.
  22. Perhaps the Brewers can squeeze a Jayson Durocher-esque season out of him before he turns back into a pumpkin.
