AJOHNSON 104 out, radman12484 to second, Brian The Automator to first. *valpocrewsader walked, radman12484 to third, Brian The Automator to second. ] Small adjustment.... I actually advanced to 2nd on a throwing error by the thirdbaseman on my fielder's choice. Radman and I didn't advance on the walk.

    I'd like to give it a try, but I thought both Robin and Jamie did a nice job as replacements after they warmed up a bit.

    A while ago, Jamie had started the process of asking people for donations for the site. Recently I was handed an envelope containing $120 towards the cost of the site. I'd just like to say that I very much appreciate those of you who contributed to this! It was very generous, and we'll make sure that money goes back into the monthly costs and other fees that the site requires to stay up. Thanks again!

    [ I don't need a game ticket. But I wouldn't mind stopping over by you guys and pitching in for a little food and beer. If that's OK? ] If past fanfests are any indication, there will be plenty of food to go around, in addition to beer. I look forward to meeting you. I made a last minute appeal (bribe) to Jim Powell and Daron Sutton to come out and have some food and beer with us as well. I know Jim was going to come out last year, but had a last minute Ryan Braun interview he had to conduct... Maybe we'll get lucky this year and have someone swing out to say hey.

    [ My wife and I will try to be there bright and squirrely at 2:30, I really hope they let us in at that time, and do we need to bring lawnchairs with us or will there be ones there? ] As soon as there are like a few cars there, they generally let people in. You only need to bring yourselves, as we have plenty of seating, tables, etc, etc, etc. I look forward to meeting you.

    I'm not going to go into a recap of the game, as i'd prefer to pretend it never happened, but I tip my cap to the gentlemen of the White House. It was a laugher after the first inning, and they handled themselves most excellently. I thought the umpiring was fair, and it was still nice to get out and get some exercise, even if I slid face first into 1st base http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

    [ All players will get equal time. We all paid the same, we all want to play, we all should get equal time. I don't even think that you can go once through the order and then add guys. ] I agree... I want our team to win as much as the next guy, but this is the social league, and I don't think playing to win should mean as much as having fun. [ According to my sheet, our game is at 9. Where's the possible mix up? ] It's at 9, I was reading the wrong column of dates.

    [ The Brewers have made it clear in the information they provided to us that we ALL can be removed for misconduct on the part of ONE person. I doubt we'll need to be concerned with that, but it's just a fair warning. ] That sounds like a dare!

    [ mental cases that fall to pieces at the drop of a hat. ] I guess i've seen far, far worse language than that be used and I still have been not offended. If the word "@#%$" would have been used to describe a person, I would have had a problem with that (unless the person actually would have been mentally @#%$, and the term used in a non-derogatory context). Given that a large majority of baseball is "mental", I think "mental case" is far more terse and usable than "some guy who can't mentally put it together on the mound" or something to that effect. I wish you wouldn't withdraw from the site over this, as I think this is simply a difference of opinion on terminology, and not some issue where someone was trying to be malicious or was even negligent. I come from a background where several people in my life have had real mental issues such as depression and anxiety, and have friends who have children with mental handicaps, so I'd like to think i'm speaking from an angle that has compassion.

    [ He just looks clueless up there at the plate. And that's not a good thing for a guy who hits 3rd in your lineup. ] He's incredibly feast or famine. Either it's acceptable, or it's not... but when all's said and done, he'll put up an .800 OPS. I certainly can see the argument against Jenks, but I think his trade value will be much higher when he goes on one of his trademark tears.

    [ Perhaps then if the track record for years has been limited success with young/high school pitchers then one should look within the "pitching coach" inventory over the years. ] I'm not sure if it's a function of the pitching coach, or if it's just a general trend that the risk with prep pitchers is just very high for ANY team. I'm not going to say that the Brewers have been handling young pitchers optimally, but I wonder if this jadedness is something every organization feels. I do agree, though, that there have been instances where the organization has tweaked players to the point where they get away from what made them successful (Hendrickson)... and there have been instances where I don't think they tweaked pitchers enough (Kyle Peterson). Whatever the case may be, we're all excited that Rogers is now flashing his brilliance where WE can see it (the box scores), since we're not fortunate enough to sit in the stands for his starts.

    [ As far as smug goes, naw, the folks that believe in him are just waiting for the process to unfold. The negative bandwagon is much more smug because it's easier to be critical and if you talk enough maybe somebody will listen. ] I'm in the "i'm waiting and seeing" camp. There are people who have already written him off, which is way weird in my opinion. To me, his lack of production so far had been very concerning... and i'm sure some of that is the paranoia instilled in us regarding 1st round prep pitchers. I know Rogers has the raw talent... and there's been a couple of outings this year that tell me that he's capable of harnessing it. If he starts stringing some more of those together, it's going to be a very exciting thing.

    There's some kind of database problem, and it's been very hard for me to diagnose. I've also had a very limited amount of time to even READ brewerfan, let alone work on it over the past few weeks... I hope to have it fixed just as soon as i'm able to set aside some time.
