    [ I would argue that out of the 16 top teams listed...the only team with a chance to WIN THE WORLD SERIES is Boston. ] I think you're circumventing the statement. It's not about what team's going to win the world series, it's about what effect K's have on runs. If we're going to change the argument to what team has the best chance to win the world series, then pitching is certainly an enormous factor which isn't accounted for. I would make the argument that K's don't have much correlation on runs scored. http://www.thediamondangle.com/archive/mar02/kcor.jpg The above study (courtesy thediamondangle.com) was done with stats from 1997-2001 in the American League (which factors out the pitcher). There doesn't seem to be much correlation between K's and runs.

We're over Russell the Muscle now. We've moved on. There are people on this site who were upset about how much love he got, and now they're letting us know how "wrong" we were. I don't see any Wes Helms threads.

    [ I wasn't told for 2 years by the people on this site that Counsell, Clayton, and Sexson would hit 40 HR's if they were allowed to play every day. I wasn't told that if they were given more playing time they would be all-stars. I wasn't told that they got a raw deal because Ned Yost hates them. I wasn't told that they should play despite their whopping number of strikeouts because strikeouts don't matter. ] Aren't you basically admitting you started the thread as an "I told you so" then? Believe me, we've heard it already.

    [ It's comical. ] You're right, it is comical. There are basically two people on the site that want to bash each others' brains in regarding Russell Branyan. Now, for God's sakes, let Branyan die a peaceful death in Tampa Bay. We're all in agreement that our current situation is better than our previous situation. Everything else has been bludgeoned to death a million times over. Case closed.

    [ 2) Is that the issue here? The answer to #2 is obviously "no". ] It may just be the cynic in me, but my guess is that if for some reason Branyan had a higher career OPS than Koskie, and rluzinski said he prefers Koskie over Branyan, it opens a hole in the "OPS rules" argument.

    [ Well, Ned's been doing pretty well in playing these hunches of moving the guys around. ] He's 1 for 2, I think. Moving Fielder down worked like magic, but moving Weeks to #1 has produced negative results (so far, at least).

    Just got back from the game. Had a great time with Brewerjamie15, his father-in law, and Ajay. Nice to see Rydogg again, and thanks to the poster/lurker who came up to say hi (i'm sorry, I didn't catch your name, as it was really loud) and his "brewerfan widow". I think the key hit tonight was Damian Miller's single to bring Ohka to the plate, so they could start off the next inning from the top of the order. I just about DIED when El Caballo got that jump against Huddy... I thought he was dead meat for sure. It's these kinds of wins, I believe, that matter the most. It wasn't an 11-0 blowout like on Saturday... it was a come from behind victory with some real nice & timely hitting. Ohka gave up the longball, but he's starting to make me look foolish with all my anti-Ohka rhetoric during the offseason.

I understand that you're just trying to get him to admit what everyone else on the site already knows, but not so we can say "you're going because you're a troll"... because he's NOT a troll, it's just this one particular issue where I think he's got something that he won't let go. [ Brian, you know as well as I do what BCU's goal in creating those Branyan threads was. I'd just like to see some accountability. ] No, I agree here. He's just taking the loophole approach to try to weasel out of admitting that he's got a big grudge against the pro-Branyan people.

[ Is this game use real major leaguers or is it a fantasy league with made up players...thanks ] It ships with a fantasy league with made-up players, but the more common use is to download rosters that are released shortly after the game from third parties (free of charge) that contain the real players and minor leaguers.

    There was a long shot of Marcus Giles's rear end that was supposed to go along with the discussion of hes injured hand. He's got a nice seat and all, but I don't think it was relevant to the discussion.

You only picked out Russell Branyan because of your obvious distaste for how the "3TO" issue was handled last year. Please don't try to play me. [ What about the Alex Sanchez comments on this site...why are they acceptable? ] I don't remember there being much in the way of Alex Sanchez thread hijacking that ever caused a problem. I think people handled pro and anti-Alex Sanchez debate with a very high level of decorum.

    [ I think it should be banned though. ] I think it's pretty borderline... The larger problem though, is that ezBoard will simply replace any occurence of ass with @#%$. Given the large number of legitimate useful words that contain the letters a-s-s in sequence, we can't blanket-ban it anyway.
