  1. [ I bet the majority of my posts have been encouraging posts about the Brewers. ] I'll be looking forward to seeing some of them when the Brewers are winning, then. [ Wake up and realize that dissention is the key to good banter. ] This is the kind of crap i'm talking about. "Wake up"? It's one thing to dissent, but it's another thing to talk down to people like that.
  2. [ I don't think so. I think that more bad things have been happening over the course of the last week than good things, so the chances of me showing up during the bad times increases exponentially as the team performs terribly. ] I'm not talking about just this week. I'm talking about your entire "lifespan" here at Brewerfan.net. What gives?
  3. [ Absolutely not. I would like to be positive. But when the team plays like this and our pitching is absolutely embarrassing, where is the silver lining of positive thoughts? Ask Mike Adams if he can think of anything positive to say right now. ] Is it just coincidence then that you show up only when bad things happen?
  4. [ If there's nothing to be postive about, then should I just sit here and give play-by-play like some people or should I comment when they make bonehead plays? If you want me to live in a fantasy world and be all "rah-rah" then I would be classified as a "homer." I would be the equivalent of the brainwashed Cubbie fans whose team can do no wrong no matter what. I'm an intelligent fan and am not afraid to criticize my team when they're stinking up the joint. ] I think people are asking if you're ever positive... i.e., inevitably when some good things happen... or are you one of the people that only likes to chime in when bad things happen.

  6. [ Can Badgerfan be traded for past considerations? ] Let's not call users out like that. I'm not interested in turning Brewerfan.net into a game of Survivor, where people get voted off the island. If people have complaints about other users, i'd prefer they be sent privately to moderators so we can see if there's some kind of violation or pattern of (mis)behavior that we need to act on.
  7. [ Your right man this forum is under.500 at the moment if this forum wants to make the playoffs we need to pick it up the power hitters like rzlunski ajay need to stop striking out ] 04/18/06 - Brewerfan.net - timeisnow34 and WhiskyBadger designated for assignment.
  8. [ Katulu, I refer you to Brian's post above. ] "Don't make us turn this message board around"
  9. I'm going to need to ask people to quit with the condescendence and talking down to other people, or unfortunately, i'm going to have to start handing out bannings. Treating other people and their opinions with respect is what separates us from some of the other message boards.
  10. Whiskybadger, I would ask that you don't talk down to people. It's fine to disagree and to argue, but what you're doing right now comes across as ranting. Also, please read the FAQ. Terms like "*****" aren't acceptable here, as they're abbreviations for cuss words. Link: forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=576.topic
  11. Had a great time under the hot hot Hunstville sun. Ballouli - I have to think it might be best to move him to relief. He had better stuff in the 1st inning than he did throughout the rest of the game. Popped the glove at 94 mph during his warmups, but was throwing 91 mph fastballs for the most part. His breaking ball looked good at times, but he was getting hit pretty hard. Acuna - Not as slick of a RFer as Bibbs, but he has a cannon, and nailed a Baron at 2B. Unfortunately, not too much else to report on the game. No real memorable moments, but it was nice to see a team that has less talent than it did in the past play sound fundamental baseball and win the game. Had a nice lengthy chat with Huntsvillefan from about the 5th to the end of the game. Very nice to finally meet you, and had a very good time chatting it up... was also able to see hvstarsfan after the game and chat briefly. Another great day in Huntsville for me, where i'm 3-0 lifetime. I'm more than likely sunburned, but it was definately worth it.
  12. If anyone's at today's game, i'll be in section M, row 6, at the left end of the section. I'll have my gray Power 50 shirt on (says "I am #51" on the back). Go Stars!
  13. [ i have to wonder if they've taught him new tricks...that or the gun was playing games with you brian ] He was hitting 91 consistently, and breaking balls for everyone were in the 84 range, right where they're usually at. Maybe he did some weight-lifting or something, and wanted to lose the soft-tossing lefty label. (edited ezcodes) -TC
  14. [ Do you have the white taped glasses as well? A pocket protector? Black socks and sandals? Nobody is gonna sit by you in that outfit my friend. ] The guy behind me had a laptop. In his defense, I think he was a scout for Birmingham, but I was the least dorky person there by default. See Friday's link report for my small write-up about tonight's (Friday) game.
  15. Just got back from the Stars/Barons game. Beautiful night in Hunstville tonight... probably about 73 degrees with a light breeze. Not too many prospects down in H-ville, but here are the things that stood out to me: Heether - Hit a couple of balls hard. Very, very steady with the glove. If Ryan Braun wasn't in the system, we'd probably be hearing more about him. Housman - To be honest, I was disappointed that I didn't get to see a different starter... but I was absolutely shocked to see that he was popping the mitt at 93 mph on the fastballs. I thought I remembered him topping out at about 88. Chavez/Rodriguez - Very, very nice defensively... MLB caliber leather for sure. Mike Meyers - _wicked_ change-up. On one particular sequence, he threw 84 mph, 82 mph, 76 mph. I could tell if the first two were curves or changeups, but the batter was way out in front on all 3. The funniest part of the night was when "our" Mike Meyers was pitching to Mike Meyers of the Barons. Alec Zumwalt - shut down a late rally by Birmingham and closed out the game... very poised, good command. Topped out at about 91-92, but had decent movement on his stuff. That's all I got.... this is a pretty weak team, unfortunately... but hopefully they'll pull together as a group and perhaps some of the Brevard Co kids will come up mid-season. The last time I was in Huntsville was about 3 years ago. Since then, they've made some REAL nice changes to Joe Davis stadium. They re-vamped all the seating and added a new LED scoreboard. It really made a world of difference, I think, to the experience. It no longer feels as run down as it used to... Everyone as always was very friendly... nothing beats Southern hospitality. 7 bucks for reserved seating and a real nice fireworks show. Great night. I'm very excited to head back tomorrow on our way out of Alabama.
  16. I'll be wearing a read nashville sounds hat, brown cargo shorts, and a red plaid short-sleeve button down shirt to tonight's Stars game, if anyone wants to say hi. We have GA seats, so we'll be sitting on the 3rd base, and we'll probably be easy to pick out. Wife's probably wearing a white button-down shirt and a yellow Sounds cap. EDIT: Make that a purple polo/golf shirt for the wife
  17. Just checking in from the hotel in Decatur (near Huntsville). Long grueling drive yesterday, but at least I got me some Waffle House. I'll be at the Hunstville games tonight and tomorrow, and then will be at the Sounds game next Thursday (20th).
  18. Just wanted everyone to know that i'll be gone through next Saturday on my annual pilgrimage to some of the minor league affiliates. I'll probably check email in the morning and at night (and perhaps provide scouting reports as I catch a game or three). So, if I don't respond to email or PM's, that's why.
  19. I think part of what people feel is anger that THEIR thread was locked. It's really nothing personal... We don't expect everyone to read every post on the site and know where everything is. As long as the moderators are curteous and/or professional in dealing with locked threads, I don't have any problem funnelling conversation into a thread, even if it's not in such an obvious place. The IGT situation isn't perfect by any means... but I think they follow a pretty natural progression. Normally, at the end of the threads, you have the "wrapup" type posts and the conversation surrounding it. The bigger problem is that if we were to allow game-specific threads outside the IGT's, moderators would have to make a determination as to what constitutes "insight", and what constitutes a general IGT-type comment. That's far more dangerous than our current blanket policy to funnel all game-specific posts into the IGT. So, in short, i'm asking everyone to respect our wishes to keep all game-specific conversation in the IGT. It's the system in which we have found the most success and which most of the people on the site seem to be OK with...
  20. I can think of a lot of things wrong with this thread: - calling the moderators "nuts" - creating a duplicate thread - putting this thread in the wrong forum - loading the subject line with "???" You stated your opinion once. We heard it. We responded to it. Complaining through repitition is not going to work. Now i'm going to lock this thread, because another thread about this topic already exists here: p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...=805.topic
  21. [ Also, can Brian or someoen please remind me why Khalid Baloulli is still in the organization? I can't remember him ever posting halfway decent numbers, but I remember several with big man-crushes on him ] Actually, I think it's only I who's had a man-crush on Khalid. He's in the organization as per my request.
  22. [ Exactly...the reason we lost was Jose Capellan. The guy is straight fastball all the time. Mulder just sat on it. He knew it was coming. You throw the guy junk pitches when you get ahead of him. Can't he get a curveball in there for a strike? When he had him in the hole, all he needed to do was throw an offspeed pitch in there and it would have thrown him all off. Not too smart. ] Was he shaking Miller off?
  23. [ What about having some of us spring once in awhile for a seat behind the plate and holding up a BF.NET sign? All they could do is tell you to put it down.. ] Nah, I don't want to be a nuisance. If we make a sign that said "Brewerfan.net loves King George" when JDLR came in, or something to that effect, it might be a cool idea.
