  1. The ESPN board goes in cycles. The "founding founders" of brewerfan were all initially ESPN refugees as well.
  2. The thing with acupuncture is that the needles are SO thin that you don't feel them. Although, I'm sure just the thought of it would freak him out.
  3. I'm not sure about chiropractors, but I've heard that acupuncture has worked wonders for people. I had acupuncture done once, and it didn't do a thing... However, I know a guy that had a completely wrecked back, and acupuncture was a magic bullet. I'm the kind of guy who prefers western medicine, but I don't think acupuncture wasn't all that expensive. I'm won't claim it's going to cure all that ails your son, but if you're really frustrated, it's worth a shot. It's not like a chiropractor where there's a chance that something could go horribly wrong. Best of luck to you and your son.
  4. The resident DJ at Taylor's asked me to put together a sample mix of stuff to see if there'd be an opportunity for me there. It's deep house / downtempo / lounge music, so I'm not sure if anyone here's interested, but if I get the gig I'll post something. It would be a Thurs/Fri/Sat night rotation, so for those you who work dayjobs, it would be a lot easier for you to come out and heckle me.

  6. Looks like I'll be doing this again on Sunday, July 26th (my bday!). Come on out.
  7. Children without leashes.
  8. Winning 2 tickets, VIP Passes, and sidestage access to a band of my choice for the Warped Tour on July 30th.
  9. What's bugging me right now is my vehicle situation. So, the KIA Spectra got wrecked with about a year and a half remaining on the loan. Insurance is paying for the balance of the loan, and a few extra hundred bucks to us. The insurance company says they're waiting on paperwork from the lender, and the lender says they're waiting on paperwork from the insurance company, so it's basically a deadlock. I've basically had to coordinate things on my own between the car dealership, the insurance company, and the lender. The most ridiculous thing is that the lender for the crashed car and the new car are the same. I thought that would make things EASIER... but I guess not. I've burned like a day and a half of vacation on this nonsense.
  10. Yeah, Sparky was QUITE generous with the compliments. I really appreciated it... Hopefully we can work something out where we do stuff together more often.
  11. I'm not sure I can exactly live up to that introduction.
  12. Free Hawaiian pizza at work day.
  13. Right now, my main hobby is working on my DJ stuff. Other than that, I've enjoyed kayaking, and I try to make it to the gym regularly now. Although, within the month my new hobby will probably be "working on Brewerfan again".
  14. I live in Waukesha in a very safe area... I do have concerns about instances where I'd have to park somewhere in Milwaukee, though. Are alarms enough of a deterrent?
  15. Whoof... that Clarion DVD indash unit is a grand before install. I think a 7" screen would suffice... If I got a motorized screen (that flips out), I could probably just replace the deck... but for anything else, I'd have to replace the deck and then the little storage area beneath it (and I'm fine with that).
  16. So, I should be getting a new car within the week. Being a nerd, my thoughts are immediately turning into "how can I get a computer in the car". I currently have a netbook which works well for car-puting, but the cheap netbook stand I bought (attaches to the passenger side seat bolt) is nicer in theory than in practice. I see some people have done a real nice job at mounting an LCD touchscreen in the place where the stock radio lives. I, however, am a clod when it comes to all things electric and all things that require a dremel. I know that you can get in-dash DVD players installed that have touchscreens, and I would feel far more comfortable with that than with a DIY LCD job. However, do the in-dash DVD players have any kind of input (I think I could do VGA to RCA, since the resolution on my netbook is already just 1000x600)? In an ideal world, I would get the LCD monitor that's in the thread I linked to, but that's like $500, and I'm sure someone would want at least that amount to do the mounting. Ideas?
  17. Yeah, I don't do scratching or juggling, strictly beatmatching... although I did a TON of preparation for this first gig, so I think it sounded pretty decent. Of course, I was asked to do a 2nd set where I ended up having to wing it... I was about 2 songs away from running out of tracks. I had to dip into the Doobie Bros at the end. I've got a standing invitation to come back every Sunday night, and Erika (the DJ who invited me out) said something about trying to get me a gig at Taylor's.
  18. When you just play random songs off an iPod or CDs, you get songs that start and stop cold (with a pause at the beginning and at the end). A DJ will mix those songs so that the transitions between them are seamless (by starting one song before the other song ends). A good DJ will also read the crowd and figure out which songs are going to keep them dancing, and which ones are going to be buzzkills.
