  1. Good grief! However, that K isn't worse than a gounder, fly ball, whatever.
  2. That's just one of the reasons he's worthless.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  3. Actually it does - on that particular AB. If you are going to throw out some stuff about a WP that's garbage and you know it. That's a function of the pitcher/catcher, not the hitter. Nobody thinks a run automatically scores simply by a ball being put in play, but if that ball is a grounder to the right side, an average fly ball, a high chopper, or a slow roller, the run scores. If the batter strikes out, it doesn't. No amount of hoping for Russ Branyan to be good can change that.
  4. Nobody ever said it did. Nobody. So nice try. However, one thing is for certain, striking out always guarantees you won't score the run.
  5. Yeah right, because that's what I was saying.
  6. Huh? I hope that's a joke. Those guys get a pass because they are in the bottom of the order?
  7. Have to agree on Branyan. I said months ago that I didn't understand all the love he gets. He just isn't bringing anything to the party. That AB was a prime example of why K's matter. If he hits a ground ball or a fly ball, they might score a run there.
  8. The Brewers really epitomize a .500 baseball team. When they look good, they look very good. When they look bad, they look very bad. You can see they're close, but they just aren't there. Ubelieveably frustrating.
  9. Much like last year at this time, the Brewers' pitching staff is a complete mess. Bad pitching really shows iteself when August/September rolls around. Douggy baby, we need some help. Another starter and a couple guys for the bullpen please.
  10. Man, EY, Mark Sweeney, Davey Lopes, Mark Loretta...no shortage of bad memories for Brewer fans when they play the Padres.
  11. If Capellan wants to ocassionally throw a strike, that would help some too.
  12. This was discussed a little the other day, but a lack of quality pitching really shows itself this time of year and the Brewers have really been exposed lately.
  13. Nevermind guys like Davis and Helling. They are what they are and we're stuck with them for now, but something is expected of Capellan and he needs to stop sucking sooner rather than later. The guy gets behind and gets killed.
  14. At least the Padres don't have a closer.
  15. Why is Capellan pitching? Why is Davis pitching? Why is Helling pitching? Let's face it gang, with a few exceptions, the Brewers pitching is weak.
  16. I have to admit I questioned walking Loretta to get to Giles. I didn't like having to face Loretta there, but Giles power is a bit more scary. Looked pretty good though. Ned must have seen something to make him do that.
  17. The Brewers are not exactly overflowing with SP prospects for the immediate term, so I think almost everyone is auditioning for that 5th spot. I suspect at least one guy in next year's rotation is not currently a Brewer though.
  18. Hall is not an everyday 3B. I have said that over and over. He is looking like he could be a very good utility guy who gets a lot of AB's though. A nice insurance policy at 3 or more positions.
  19. Some here really demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding or objectivity or both. There's only 8 positions folks. As long as Ned Yost is making out the lineup, many here will insist that in addition to Clark, Jenkins, and Lee, Prince, JJ, Hall, Weeks, Hart, Branyan all start every game. The same people who complain when Hardy doesn't start also complain when Branyan never plays. Well guess what. Hardy isn't starting tonight because Branyan is starting. All Bill Hall is doing is hitting .321 on the homestand and .295 in August. Definitely wouldn't want him in there. So if you want JJ in there, that moves Hall to 3B. Although that'd probably be fine. It'd give people a chance to rip on Ned for not playing Branyan. But wait, let me guess, Bill Hall is not part of teh Brewers future. Its really become quite pathetic.
  20. I have no idea why everyone is so surprised and/or outraged. This team's goal hasn't changed from day one...finsh at or above .500 and bring some of the younger guys along to prepare for the future. Its a two part thing. One could certainly try to argue that playing the younger guys gives you a better shot at both, and I would give some credence to that argument, but it is a different argument. You have to understand something else, the overwhelming majority of people in the Brewers' target market have probably never heard of brewerfan.net. The Brewers have already got you and me. Finishing this year with a winning record will do more to generate excitement and interest for next year among the casual fans who buy tickets, than letting a couple rookies go through their ups and downs for a month. All and all I think they have done a fine job of getting some of these guys ready for next year. Weeks and Hardy especially. Weeks plays every day and Hardy plays regularly. Hart doesn't have a position, Where's he gonna play? I'm sorry, you can't let him out there in front of any of the starting OF'ers. As for Fielder, I don't think many have considered the possibility that Doug and Ned feel he may not need the AB's - that he is fine as a hitter already and will be ready to go next year. Maybe that's true, maybe it isn't. His problem is defense, and while a little time could help, I'm not sure how much. It'd be nice to have that bat in the line-up, but they do also have to consider having to trade Lyle and having him out there playing that to beef up his numbers is the best way to do that. If you want to argue that the season is over, then maximizing Lyle's value in the off season has to be a top priority. All this woe is us, "why can't Prince ever get a start" is pretty weak. Plyer development is important to those of us who have kept a closer eye on the team and are looking down the road, but for those who see little more than wins or losses it doesn't mean much. Breaking that losing record string and attempting to fortify the talent for next year will benefit the organization overall far more than Prince getting a couple starts.
  21. Please tell me we face Peavey and Eaton wehn SD is here.
  22. MP should be rattling from the Booos after this one. Pathetic performance.
