  1. Same goes for Weeks and Sheets. That was a tough loss only because the Brewers did not play well at all. Sometimes you get beat and sometomes you lose. Tonight I'd say they lost a bit more tha nthey were beat. Ah well. Can't win 'em all. Currently on pace for 90 wins!
  2. I saw an interview within the last week or so, and Prince has been using Carlos' bats for a while.
  3. Alright Ben Sheets...if you are in fact the man, tonight would be a ideal time to demonstrate as much.
  4. Looking at the opponents and pitching match-ups, I think I will be disappointed with less than 5-2 on this homestand. I think we can/should take 3 from the Reds and 2 from the Braves. I suppose 4-3 will be alright, but a bit disappointing.
  5. Endaround made this excellent point as to why Eveland was left in there. I also, made the point in the 9th last night that I was not crazy about bringing Turnbow in with guys already on base. He does have a tendencey to get himslef into trouble sometimes when he first gets in there. At the same time though, you always prefer to see them beat your best, but if Ned liked the match-up enough for whatever reason and thought Eveland was going to get the job done there, so be it. Same would be true if he would have gone to Turnbow and he didn't get it done. You play for the match-ups you want and sometimes it doesn't work out. Scoring more than one run would have probably helped as well. Last night was ismply a case of the better team winning. Oswalt and Lidge were the story of that one. I mean the Brewers gave up 2 runs.
  6. Is it time for Weeks to take some serious time off? If what we've seen of late is all he's capable of, it sure looks to me like he is suffering from some combination of fatigue and that thumb. It might be time to say that it may be better for both he and the team if he spends more time on the bench than the field for the remainder of the year.
  7. Is it just me, or did I just watch this game Wednesday night?
  8. Rick Helling - My Goodness! Get that man a W!
  9. Can anyone exlain to me the lack of TV for this series - on the road no less?
  10. So, the Brewers have now mastered the .500 game. next up, the .500+ game.
  11. My initial reaction was bad movce to pull Davis, but at 93 pitches, he hasn't been too sharp except for the 5th, he very well could have given it up in teh 6th. Probably the right call to try to get those runs in. Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
  12. I agree. That was my goal for this season, so I guess I have to conclude that the season has been a success. Hope we can talk about it a bit longer though. Our playoffs begin tonight.
  13. 6-3 Milwaukee! Clemens string of nagging post-steroid injuries continue to catch up with him, and the Brewers rock the tar out of him in the 3rd.
  14. How many runs will we score on Friday? Will we score on Friday?
  15. LOL! Doug Davis, Capuano, Turnbow, Wise, Overbay, Nelson Cruz, Carlos Lee...and you think a guy who is likely to see very limited action the rest of the season and who will probably be gone next year is one of the best moves he''s made? Take off the Branyan googles guy.
  16. So it would appear he may be in for a good September.
  17. Sure, let's get back to Branyan. . When has he played well? In his MAJOR LEAGE career spanning over 7 years, he has a .231 career average. In 1450 AB's he has 335 hits, 92 HR and 236 RBI, 197 BB and 592 K's. They guy K's over 40% of his AB's, and at 16AB's per HR, he is not making up the difference. But let me guess, its a small sample, he's still young, he needs regular playing time, blah, blah, blah. The guy sucks. He's not exactly a rookie either. The guy is 29 years old. Put him on a loaded team and he might be a nice player to have, but there is absolutely no place for him to hide on a team like the Brewers. Oh BTW, I believe he has the lowest fielding percentage on the team.
  18. The OPS argument as it relates to Branyan is a load of crap. Yes he can hit HR's when he manages to put a bat on a ball. He walks alot. That's true, but that has everything to do with how he is used and where he hits. He leads the team in intentional walks, yet he is 9th in AB's. 25% of his BB's are intentional because he has hit almost exclusively in the 7th spot. That doesn't even include the number of times the opponent works around him to get to guys like Hardy, Moeller or Miller. Fact is, the Brewers lineup is not good enough to hide his inability to put a bat on a ball. So move him up in the order you say. Nope not an option, because to move someone up, you need to move someone down. Who are you gonna move down? Beyond that, if you do put him higher in teh order, he will strike out more (in place of the BB's) and those strike outs will probably be more damaging if he's in the top/middle of the order. The guy can't play.
  19. Yeah, I've never figured Turnbow for a steroid user either.
  20. I am aware of the score. I still think this one looks like a loss. Not sure if I smell it or feel it exactly, but I just get the sense a ball is going to be flying over the wall soon.
  21. Grrr...This one looks like a loss.
  22. You give me too much credit -- sheer laziness.
  23. Helling threw 77 pitches. How many has he thrown in his couple of starts. Good scoring opportunity, and he was probably getting close to his limit. One more inning tops.
  24. Actually I didn't. I have these things called eyes, and another thing called a brain. Striking out with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out (especially batting 7th). Very bad. Striking out with only a runner on second and 1 out. Not as bad. Not good, but not as bad.
  25. I guess the good news for the anti-Branyan crowd is that with Cirillo back, Prince on teh bench and Hardy playing well, you probably aren't going to see much more of him.
