  1. Professional at-bats? Define professional at-bats. Making contact? Not trying to pull everything for a homerun? Not regularly swinging at pitches nowhere near the strike zone?
  2. No, you haven't stumbled through a wormhole and traveled back to the Brewerfan.net debates of Spring 2005. My question is, if you have to trade one, and keep the other as the starting SS for the foreseeable future, who would you trade and who would you keep? Shortstop seems like a pretty justifiable place for Hall to get playing time, which is what he wants. Hardy has been pretty bad for about a year now.
  3. I don't think it's a love affair. He wouldn't be playing that much in the light-side of the platoon, and if nothing else, he'd give the team more professional at-bats than Hall has been.
  4. Problem is, it would have been completely foolish to trade him then. He was 26, versatile, and coming off two straight very solid seasons. It appeared as though he was getting better. His regression is somewhat surprising, in my opinion. I thought keeping him (and extending him) was absolutely the right move, at the time.
  5. I don't think that looking solely at his career average against RHP really paints a very good picture. Not suprising that TH doesn't delve deeper into the stats. Hall's line last year against RHP was .247 / .305 / .408 / .713. This year is .163 / .226 / .326 / .552 It's been since 2006 (1.5 seasons) that he has hit RHP well. And he really appears to be regressing as a hitter overall since 2006. In addition to that, his defense has been spotty. Something had to be done.
  6. I could live with Hall getting traded, as long as the Brewers get a reasonable return. Branyan/Dillon should hopefully be able to hold down the fort until a longterm solution is found.
  7. Sweet! Looks like tonight was the Brewers lucky night. I'll take it.
  8. As Bill Schoeder was saying, Billy Hall is a MUCH better fielder than Russell... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  9. Bunting with Kendall. Kapler over 3TO to face a RHP. Ridiculous moves, but Ned won't even be questioned because the Brewers lucked out with the DiamondBack screw-ups.
  10. I'm glad it worked out, but why was Kapler batting? Where was Branyan???? It should be 5-3.
  11. Most pre-season predictions have Hart posting better numbers (including a higher OBP) than Cameron, no?
  12. I think Cameron and Hart should swap spots in the batting order. We need more OBP at the top of the order. .328 and .280 isn't getting it done. Especially with Braun and Fielder starting to consistently hit some homeruns.
  13. Branyan's updated stats: BA - .300 OBP - .440 SLG - .700 OPS - 1.140 Awesomeness Factor - 1,000,000 Is it too early to start discussing Branyan as the front-runner for the MVP award???
  14. Women in leather jackets? *rimshot* I've always liked him for "NFL Primetime", and pretty much can't stand him for anything else. I detest him covering baseball.
  15. Better, but probably still not good. Russ estimated their record would be 25-26 if the home and road game totals were switched. Personally, I would still be very disappointed with their play.
  16. Other teams seem to be able put up respectable road records, this year and every other. It's May, and this Brewers team contains a lot of young guys. If they're already worn out, heaven help them during the dog days of August...
  17. I hope this isn't meant to be some kind of excuse for their poor play. I'm sure the margin isn't that wide compared to the amount of home games other teams have played. In the end, they will have to play 81 road games regardless, and if they can't find a way to be at least competetive during that half of the schedule, the home games won't even matter. That's prety much how it's been the past handful of years, at least.
  18. Apparently, this team is willing to try anything and everything other than a shakeup in the coaching staff. It's sad really. If nothing else, the guys on the Brewers were likeable. Can't say that anymore. Julian Tavarez has to be one of the biggest jerks to ever wear a major league uniform. And he's not even good anymore. Looks like we've made the shift from last place team, to unlikeable last place team.
  19. This team just sucks. I really don't know why I waste my time anymore.
  20. Since when is 4 runs in 5 IP considered "pitching well"? That translates to an ERA over 7.00, and he lost the game. Let's re-visit this at the all-star break. Vargas is a terrible pitcher. Two good starts (with one bad one in between) doesn't change that.
  21. http://www.worthaglance.com/prodimages/200/858.jpg #14? Blue shades??? What's happening? Where am I?
  22. Branyan has posted an .817 OPS at the Major League level from 2005-2007. That would currently rank him second among Brewer starting position players.
  23. Look at that flowing mane. It's Mel Kiper-esque. As Crewin06 said though, what took so long?
  24. Yes! This instantly improves our offense and defense when a RHP is on the opposing mound.
