1. How about just playing Jenkins every day and leaving it at that? Jenkins is much worse against LHP than Mench and Graffanino...and Dave Bush and Chris Capuano...and pretty much every other person in the universe.
2. I am pretty sure Vince McMahon needs to rot in hell. I'll buy that. It really seems like he will do anything it takes for the WWE to be successful. I really don't think he cares at all what happens to his wrestlers once he's done with them and has no use for them anymore. He treats human beings like disposable resources. He knows all the longterm problems that can come with some of the demands his business puts on people, but seems uninterested in doing anything other than downplaying the problem.

4. OMG!! seriuslhy, who wood walk estrdada????? its stoooopid!!
5. NL SS is a loaded position NL shortstops actually have a higher OPS this season than NL rightfielders, .743 vs .741. That's kind of crazy. Just think how big the gap would be between the two positions if the NL didn't have Corey Hart bringing up the overall RF OPS number!
6. Vargas gos down the toobs aftEr da FIfth inning. Shocccckkkkkking!!!
7. And the year before that he was untouchable for the entire year. Hence, I said:
8. Turnbow has blown up a few times but I'm not sure what people expect from him. He's a good enough but not great reliever who prone to blowing up on occasion. To be fair, he's probably prone to blowing up more than just "a few times" or "on occasion." It was just last year that he melted down for an entire half of a season, so obviously he can be bad for long stretches at a time. He can also be great for long stretches as well though. So far, he's been doing a decent enough job this year. He just strikes me as having a very fragile psyche, and that will always concern me a little bit, particularly anytime he starts getting guys on base.
9. If Sheets doesn't make it at this point its criminal. He is easily one of the best SP's statistically and he has a history to go with it. Don't discount the Brewers success as a team also. He's the #1 starter on a 44-32 team. It's totally justifiable to take 3 players from a division leader, but not so much if the team stinks.
10. If anybody can post a link to a clip of the Cubs fan attacking his own player, I'd love to see it. I like watching Cubs fans show the world what they're really all about.
11. Wouldn't using CV in a setup role take him further away from being a starter? Probably. Isn't he expected to be a starter again some day? I don't know. Maybe. That's why I posed this as a hypothetical, assuming the Brewers had decided to keep him in a bullpen role for the foreseeable future.
12. Nooooo!! Oh well, it's still funny that they almost blew it.
13. Oh my God, it's true! I thought that game was over, and had stopped checking the score. What a ridiculous team.
14. There have been rumblings lately on this board that Turnbow should be replaced as the set-up man. Assuming that we don't trade for any bullpen help, I think that the logical competetion for the role would be Carlos Villanueva. If the Brewers decide to keep Villanueva in the bullpen for the longterm, who would you like to see as the primary set-up pitcher, and why? For reference, here is a comparison of their 2007 stats: IP ERA WHIP vsOPS K/9 K/BB G/F Turnbow 33.2 4.01 1.16 .558 10.96 2.73 1.30 Villanueva 51.2 2.79 1.20 .667 8.19 2.14 0.81
15. Also, Vargas seems to be an ideal guy to move to the bullpen. He doesn't fit into the Brewers longterm plans, and he usually can't even go more than 5 innings or so as a starter anyway.
16. Wow. 3 people in a row admitting they might be wrong about something. That has to be a new brewerfan record. Villy did it so I can see the value. Yeah, but Villy hasn't attempted to transform back into a starter yet. That will be the real test (if that's what the organization wants him to do). He's on pace for just over 100 innings pitched this year, so trying to stretch him back out to being a starter could prove difficult. It's possible the Brewers would be okay with Villy in a bullpen role longterm though, so it might not ever be an issue. We pretty much know that's not the case with Gallardo though.
17. I'd rather see him in the pen, where we can use him, one of our best pitchers, during critical moments. I guess I differ with you on that. I'd rather see him still making starts (even if they are somewhat sporadic) than move to the bullpen. I think that skipping starts would be less of an overall adjustment to his game than trying to turn him into a bullpen pitcher for half of a season. Like I said, he's conditioned to be a starter. Moving to the pen is a completely different way of pitching. That's really just a theory and a guess on my part though. I might be wrong.
18. The logical conclusion in my mind is that for some period of time he's going to have to be in the bullpen. What if we made him the #5 starter, and skipped him whenever possible? Has anyone run the numbers to see how many starts (and probable innings) he would end up with under such a scenario? Gallardo has been conditioned for a long time to be a starting pitcher. I guess I worry that moving him to the bullpen and then back to starter next year: a. Could mess up his mechanics, rhythm, and arm more than just going a few too many innings this year would b. Will limit his innings too much, to the point where he won't be "stretched out" enough to pitch all year as a starter next year
19. I think Capellan could be a solid 8th inning guy Yikes. I disagree. I'm not even sure Capellan deserves a roster spot.
20. The Cardinals lost. Unless I missed it somewhere, I think that means it's time for a new magic number. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
21. Turnbow is a tough call. He can be so dominating at times. However, it also seems he can be a little too erratic for the high leverage set-up role. If possible, I'd sacrifice some of the dominance for a little bit more steadiness out of that spot. If we are able to trade for somebody like that (or maybe Villanueva could be that guy?), then maybe we should try to uprade. Otherwise, I'm not totally unsatisfied with Turnbow, although I do get nervous when he enters a game.
22. Pretty lucky to get out of that inning with only 1 run. Actually, it turned out to also be lucky that Mench was in there. I bet there is no way they run on Jenkins on a shallow fly ball like that.
23. Great job Spurling. Good thing we have true professionals like you and Crapellan on our team.
