  1. Tyler Black with a nice 2 strike hit, good to see.
  2. Payne up for the second time in the inning and caught the infielders napping and stole second by just beating the fielder to the bag after a dropped popup. So that's six bases this game (infield single, taking 2nd, 4 SB) all because of his speed.
  3. Braylon Payne got the third baseman to rush the throw and reached first base, then easily stole 2nd and 3rd and scored on a fielding error. Just immediately puts pressure on the bases.
  4. As Chris Edwards says...Di Turi's hat trick becomes the sombrero. 0-4, 4 Ks, OPS at .552 after his .956 in the ACL.
  5. Ends up working a walk and then stealing on the first pitch. He actually took off for third on the second pitch but it was fouled off. Got to third on a balk, seemed to really be in the pitcher's head.
  6. Payne really went after the first pitch fastball and totally missed. I kinda wish he had hit it to see how far it went.
  7. Why has he been moving so slowly through the system? Is he just a late bloomer? Seems like 5.5 years in Rk and A and he could have been pushed a little more.
  8. Yes, thank you! I've been wanting to say something on the last few articles which have all been like that, but not sure where to air my grievance.
  9. Kind of a slap attempt at a high fastball for Payne in his 3rd PA--easy grounder to 2nd, but a bobble by the 2nd baseman. Payne looked safe at 1st but was called out.
  10. It looks like Payne is taking some really close pitches for balls--the Gameday locations don't appear to be correct on those pitches. So far good plate discipline.
  11. Braylon Payne called out on pitch clock violation. Just took too long between pitches after a new baseball was thrown back to the pitcher.
  12. Mitch White at 97-98 mph in the 1st? If he turns into a productive MLB starter, I would love a story on that progression.
  13. I was hoping the name was revealed at the time it was said and this did not disappoint. Awesome hype video
  14. The only worse game this year according to umpscorecards was this one from last week, which was actually in Milwaukee's favor. So just Bucknor making the score even. You could also look at totRI, which shows these top 5. The game vs the Cubs gave the Brewers the edge by about 1 run, but it was more even in impact.
  15. Here's a table that gives statistical evidence for that statement. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/1982-batting.shtml#players_win_probability_batting::11
  16. Last time he went on the IL, the Cardinals went 24-16.
  17. Here are the Brewers out of zone swing percentages so far this year. Mitchell is near the lowest in the majors with a huge difference from the previous two years.
  18. Looks like Contreras caught in 8 of Corbin's 32 starts last year and had a much worse OPS against (without looking into the data of different teams faced, etc). https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=burneco01&year=2023&t=p#catch
  19. Ortiz has struggled this year against 4-seams and sinkers, while primarily doing damage on changeups and curveballs. Mikolas is right-handed and throws mostly 4-seams, sliders, and sinkers. Turang on the other hand, has done best against 4-seams, sinkers, and sliders, while struggling against curves and changeups, the two pitches he's less likely to see.
  20. That's the beauty of wOBA. It assigns an actual value for each batting event in the context of the season and weights them all correctly.
  21. Is there anything that shows if he has moved in the box? Did he shift forward to turn his outside into the middle?
  22. What was the recovery like? I'm wondering what the 6 months between now and March looks like for Yelich.
  23. I went to the same college as Joey Ortiz (not at the same time). Hoping that's a point of pride for the next few years.
  24. Jesus Made not in the starting lineup today.
  25. Edit: Anthony Volpe also did it and did not win last year.
