  1. If Prince plays in 157 games this year, are people really going to be upset about that?
  2. If Linebrink qualifies as a Type A free agent, which is likely, but not certain, the compensation would be the same as Cordero.
  3. I think the brass likes Parra more than most fans have realized. I thought that before, but now with Inman gone, I just don't see Manny being dealt at this point.
  4. We have the 5 pitchers who opened the season in the rotation, plus Gallardo, Villanueva and Parra, all ahead of Inman at the time of this trade. Yes, he could turn out to be a good one, but the organization was absolutely in a position to deal him. It's up to Linebrink, and then it's up to Jack Z.
  5. I can understand how anyone could like or dislike this trade, because what we gave up is unknown. It's going to take a while before we know how this one works out, so it's fair to guess on either side. One thing I'd like to point out to those who worry that we'll end up dealing away all of our prospects....Doug said tonight that he wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the compensation picks. Depending on what happens with both Linebrink and Cordero, the Brewers could be picking early and often in next year's draft, I don't see a reason to worry about the farm system emptying out. Wow, trading prospects for veterans, then drafting all day when they walk....welcome to the Milwaukee Red Sox.
  6. The Padres certainly got top value, but I like the move. Linebrink is definitely a solid addition, and the picks that will come when he walks will restock the farm.
  7. Bill Sharp? No way!
  8. If Derrick has one bad outing a month, I'll take that every year for the rest of his career. The night before Dunn got him, he was virtually unhittable.
  9. First off, that rivalry was a little more heated than you remember, included one very memorable fight between the two managers, in the days of Garner and Bevington. For a long time, the two teams were not in the same division, I think that had a lot to do with the difference. Once the AL Central was created, that rivalry definitely heated up. There is an added level right now because the Brewers and Cubs are fighting each other for a division title. I think if that had happened with the Sox, there would have been a very similar reaction.
  10. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/Reds81.jpg I had forgotten about this...they had the best record, but won neither half of the "strike season." No playoffs.

  12. Moose, I agree with almost everything you said, but Suppan isn't going anywhere - because of his contract. When you look at his production vs his salary, he'd be tough to move, as happens often with free agent pitchers.
  13. I'd like a routine 7-run inning please.
  14. Let's tie the two threads together. forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=16066.topic
  15. I noticed this with Johnny last week, I was at the Thursday game with AZ, he was out by 2-3 steps on a ball the 2B dropped twice. In a way, this is good news, I'm much more comfortable having a guy who tried to play hurt than having a guy who runs like that on purpose with the game on the line. Piazza does not thrill me, are there any other catchers to be had?
  16. I guess if you're willing to call Adam Dunn an "outfielder", Tex is worth a shot. I'll be shocked if he ends up in Milwaukee, but I do think they'll deal him.
  17. Absolutely, MBM. I'd love to see a deal that wins this team 2-3 extra games between now and October, but only if the price is right.
  18. The issue I see is, this team is at the beginning of a run, not nearing the end of one. I think management is trying to upgrade the roster for this season, but not at the cost of the next 3-5 years. Imagine how mad you would be if the Brewers got Dye or Torii Hunter, but gave up Gallardo to do so. If you believe what the Brewers are saying, that seems to be the type of offers they've gotten of late. The Lee trade from last year would equate to something like Mench, Turnbow and Gwynn for Hunter and a AAA player. Would you do that right now?
  19. Come on Cards, do it for Bake! http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/bakemcbride.jpg
  20. Harang is by far the Reds' best pitcher, and he's done for the series. Let's hit!
  21. I think the Rangers are the key to this whole trading season. Teams are scouting Teixeira, Lofton, Wilkerson, and virtually the whole bullpen.
  22. Yahoo has an article up right now that talks about the most annoying office habits. Number one in their survey turned out to be the "Loud Talker." Annoying cell phone ring tones are on the list, as are loud speaker phones and smelly lunches. Any bad experiences out there? finance.yahoo.com/career-work/article/103249/How-Loud-is-too-Loud
  23. Yes, I'm counting down to Hall's return. Last night when Estrada came up with the bases loaded I'm sitting here going "This would be Hall's spot in the lineup...against the Reds."
  24. The Reds would move Dunn, for a hefty price, but I see absolutely zero chance of them letting Harang go. They need a lot more pitching as it is.
