  4. This is the spot in the schedule that scares me most. We're 1/2 game back as we leave town, I hope we're no more than 2 back when we get back home.
  5. My first job was also my dirtiest, I worked on a farm at age 13. I didn't deal with animals, I detassled seed corn. Such glamor, always covered in mud, and either soaked or burnt.
  6. The spot that has me most concerned is that trip to Cincy and Pittsburgh.
  7. Blazer, I believe that is a shot from TV's "James at 15", from the 1970s. If I'm right, I can't believe I know that.
  8. Let's hear your predictions, it has finally happened, your Milwaukee Brewers are Honest to Goodness in a pennant race on September 1st. Here's mine- Cardinals, 16-15, finishing at 81-81 Cubs, 15-14, finishing at 83-79 Brewers, 15-12, with one game left, standing at 82-79....do they win that last one to force a playoff? Never mind Packers-Titans, this is Brewers-Padres, September 30. Lights out, steel cage, no referee, loser leave town....

  10. Astros win 6-1, one more opportunity for our guys.
  11. Very true Patrick, if the Brewers don't win their games, none of the rest will matter.
  12. Sweet Little Sixteen Chuck Berry, Rock N Roll They're really rockin Boston In Pittsburgh, P. A. Deep in the heart of Texas And 'round the Frisco Bay All over St. Louis Way down in New Orleans All the Cats wanna dance with Sweet Little Sixteen Sweet Little Sixteen She's just got to have About half a million Framed autographs Her wallet's filled with pictures She gets 'em one by one She gets so excited Won't ya look at her run Oh Mommy Mommy Please may I go It's such a sight to see Somebody steal the show Oh Daddy Daddy I beg of you Whisper to Mommy It's all right with you Cause they'll be rockin on bandstand In Philadelphia P.A. Deep in the heart of Texas And 'round the Frisco Bay All over St. Louis Way Down in New Orleans All the Cats wanna dance with Sweet Little Sixteen Sweet Little Sixteen She's got the grown up blues Tight dress and lipstick She's sportin' high heel shoes Oh, but tomorrow morning She'll have to chang her trend And be sweet sixteen And back in class again Cause they'll be rockin on bandstand In Philadelphia P.A. Deep in the heart of Texas And 'round the Frisco Bay All over St. Louis Way Down in New Orleans All the Cats wanna dance with Sweet Little Sixteen
  13. I think it helps that most of the hitters he's facing are seeing him for the first time. Sometimes when you get to this point in the year, the new guys can make a big difference because they have something to prove, and they're harder for opponents go plan for. I think Joe Dillon is also in this category.
  14. How about Ben Sheets and Bill Hall for Johan Santana? There are some decent free agent options in CF.
  15. Yes, he did that, I heard him tell the story years ago on David Letterman. I believe he named the pitcher as Gary Nolan, but I'm not certain of that anymore. He knew the pitcher was gassed, but the guy kept shaking him off, wanting to throw a fastball, so Bench walked to the mound and told him no, because he didn't have anything on it. The guy insisted, so Bench called for the heat, caught it barehanded, and threw it back to him.
  16. On that note, Jason, I can't believe it's pouring outside - AGAIN!
  17. Chris Young is a wonderful human being.
  18. Getting hooked up with Badger football tickets.
  19. I agree, MBM, the Brewers are in a rotten spot with Cappy right now. If they deal him, his value is way down, if they keep him and he doesn't produce, the criticism will be intense. The Brewers may be caught trying to deal a surplus of under-producing arms for what they need...which happens to be producing arms. That's bad math.
  20. The 80s covered both HS and college for me, the summer of '85 was insane, and is still probably the most fun I've ever had. Rock concerts, at a time when there was a fine layer of smoke around the lights by the time the opening act took the stage Whining on end when gas peaked at $1.20 a gallon Making $3.35 an hour - and feeling wealthy Creating fun with my friends in a town with nothing to do Watching my friend Joe panic when he realized he had stumbled upon a nude beach
  21. If Vargas is dealt, I'd expect him to be the second piece of the puzzle, just as he was in the deal that brought him to Milwaukee. I do think there are teams that would want him, I just don't know that many of them would build a deal around adding him.
  22. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/th_AliceCooper.jpg "Eighteen and I like it!"
  23. I asked for a plus defender who can get on base, Burrell can do one, Counsell can do the other....I'll keep looking.
