  3. So far, it looks like Montgomery has taken a methodical, "let the draft come to me" approach. He's taken, "Best Player Available" types, without chasing the sexy name, or the really expensive sign. Spend what you should, where you should, and get talent. Did anyone catch that quote from Montgomery last night, when he admitted he loves left-handed pitching?
  4. That may not be necessary this year, because the guys they took last night don't appear to be, "over slot" types where they were taken. I could be way off, because I have no idea what it will take to sign those guys, but just looking at who went where, I don't think the Brewers are way over budget at this point. Trends from recent years may not mean much, with a new man running the draft this year.
  5. I didn't think Clark would be there either, because he can hit. In an era when scoring is down, and a year when the draft wasn't eye-popping, and certainly not filled with outfielders with plus bats, I didn't see Clark getting to Milwaukee.
  6. I thought one of the teams picking 11-13 would take Trent Clark, with Kirby's injury this year he was much harder to guess on, but he certainly has potential if everything's ok now, and I don't think anyone would have guessed Ponce lasting as long as he did. I don't see any reaches by the Brewers, and I do see obvious potential in all three picks. They should have a starting MLB outfielder, and, at least two strong bullpen arms, who will be given every chance to start. There were no head-scratchers tonight for the Crew.
  7. There you go, Ponce, that's not a reach. I can't argue against any of the three players the Brewers took tonight.
  8. I think the best players left right now are pitchers...Everett, Ponce, Matuella, Chalmers, for a bat, maybe Demi Orimoloye.
  9. I guess Kirby's lefty arm potential was too much to pass up at 40...there goes Betts.
  10. That's a good pick by the Cubs, a player many thought could go late in round one.
  11. This is right, that pick was not a reach, but it did catch me by surprise.
  12. A year ago, Kirby looked like he'd be a first round pick this year, with ease, but his command left him.
  13. Wow, I definitely did not expect that pick.
  14. I say take Betts or Ponce. I've said it enough times in the last six weeks....I like Chris Betts.
  15. Donny Everett is expected to be a pricey sign...two guesses who his draft advisor is.
  16. If he is, I haven't heard that, and I know the Brewers really like him...we'll see.
  17. I would think Phil Nevin's kid, Tyler will go fairly soon.
  18. Hayes to the Pirates, well son of a ...
  19. Funkhouser has night been picked, neither have Cody Ponce, or Mike Matuella, among pitchers, and in the field, there's Cameron and Betts, and I think we're right in KeBryan Hayes' range now. Funkhouser and Hayes are the only two guys I had in round one who are still available, so for me at least, names will start to get murkier soon.
  20. Watch the Yankees for Chris Betts right here.
  21. Congrats to Mr Nikorak....I wonder if the fam will cheer that loud when they realize he's a pitcher, and the Rockies just took him.
  22. Rats. I stink. Um....I typed, "Trenton Clark", and it autocorrected to Alonzo Jones....very peculiar.
  23. Bueller projected around pick number ten, time and again, and there he went, at 24.
  24. Plummer to St Louis, he was tied to Milwaukee several times in recent months, then he slid a bit.
