  1. I think he did pretty mediocre, like always... and yes the entire FO still needs to go. Who do you mean, in addition to Doug?
  2. Now that the trade deadline has passed, and the rebuild has clearly begun, I'm just curious - is Doug still evil and rotten and responsible for the oppression of the Hondurans? I think he did pretty well.
  3. Thornburg has been rescued from Colorado Springs - still one open spot on the MLB roster.
  4. "Broxton to St Louis" ... I have no idea what for, in more ways than one.
  5. "Broxton to St Louis" ... I have no idea what for, in more ways than one.
  6. Here's to the rebuild! Oh, and screw you, Mets.
  7. Those of you who thought the Brewers were trying to win next year, instead of rebuilding ... can now relax.
  8. In the interest of fair play, sportsmanship, and not wanting to hold a silly little grudge ... by god, I want Carlos traded to the Nationals by sundown.
  9. The Mets gave up a draft pick to pay Michael Cuddyer more than Carlos Gomez is making, then they made up a hip injury to get out of trading for him. Watch Carlos play for two minutes - his hip is just fine. They, are a complete joke. Trade him to Washington.
  10. Flores is just not a SS, he never was, but the Mets forced him there out of necessity. He'll play 2B or 3B here, I'm sure.
  11. Flores was a Top 100 prospect on the way up, the Mets did him a major disservice, playing him out of position while he breaks in - the man is NOT a shortstop. Flores will no doubt get a shot at 2B, and 3B, wherever he fits - he's not garbage, he has some power, folks, the question is, will get on base in the big leagues? He's going to be a project, but there's plenty of potential there. Wheeler ... I like him, but I never was sold on him as an elite prospect. I don't think he's going to be great, but I think he's going to be good, and he has the chance to be better than anyone currently in the Brewers' rotation. It's not an overwhelming return, but this is two guys with plenty of potential. I wish it was a little bit more, but this isn't a terrible move by any means. Give the kid a chance to play where he belongs, and wait on Wheeler ... that's about the size of this.
  12. I like Cooney, I'd do that. One thing on him, he just had his appendix out, but for the Brewers that doesn't mean much, since this season was over in April.
  13. There's no reason not to deal for young guys like Nimmo and Smith, but I want a pitcher in there. If Wheeler is available, then that's who I want. Wheeler, Nimmo and Smith, for Gomez and a complimentary piece.
  14. I've got several friends in Missouri, they ask me every day if I think the Cardinals can get Lind. The St Louis faithful have a man crush right now. They're convinced that a lefty bat at first base will be the difference between a playoff team and a World Series team.
  15. Best to Aramis, he's an easy guy to root for. The Brewers gave him a huge deal for his age, and they paid for it. He ends in Pittsburgh, where he began - I hope he has a great finish.
  16. This was a great year for the Brewers to climb in the rankings. Only Jungmann will graduate from the preseason top ten, and they've added the guys from the Gallardo trade, and the new draft class. The Brewers' farm system hasn't been this deep in years. If they push it, and trade for some more kids now, and in the winter, they could really make a move.
  17. Gausman was the #4 overall pick when he was drafted - precisely the sort of pitcher so many here talk about getting time and again. His results in the big leagues have been mixed, but there has definitely been some success in the mix. Honestly, I feel like Baltimore could have, and should have handled him better. He's a top prospect, a guy you hope you can build around, and they've jerked him all over the place. He's up, he's down, he's in the rotation, he's in the bullpen, etc. Obviously, he's not a sure thing, but the skills are there, and he's got plenty of service time left before he could leave. I'd have no problem with a deal that centered around him, depending on who the Brewers gave up, and who came with him.
  18. Nothing sucks about this - the Brewers have a draft pick they didn't have a day ago - YAY! Sure, sooner is better, but the Brewers haven't been shut out in this thing yet, when that happens, then we'll have something negative to discuss.
  19. I don't think most of the members here are old enough to remember this, but it was fun in 1981. There was a strike, so they went with two half-seasons, and the Brewers wound up winning the second half in the AL East, clinching on the next-to-last day - it was a great time. If we didn't have the wildcards in place, I'd like the idea, but I think the system they've got now gives teams plenty of opportunity. A month like the Brewers had last September, or this April, SHOULD knock a team out of the playoffs.
  20. igor67, it didn't take agents long at all to learn how to play this system. Baseball has left WAY too much leverage in the hands of teenagers, allowing their reps to push for "take it or leave it" bonuses, using college programs as patsies. I hate it, and I hope they fix it, but unless and until they do, you're exactly right. The more cash you've got to sign guys with, the more you're able to, "play the game." An extra pick is more money, not just a chance to get another guy.
  21. Zero. Nobody. The young, controllable pitchers would be tough to trade, but not untouchable, everyone else would be easy for me to at least discuss. There are good players here, and there are good contracts here, but between age, production, and dollars, there's no one on this team who can't be moved. It would be tough to get an offer I'd take for guys like Nelson, Jungmann, Blazek, and Jeffress, because I'd essentially want what they already are in return.
  22. When the Brewers took him, I liked the pick at the time, more than most here seemed to. I thought Taylor would make it, and be a good MLB pitcher then, but his minor leagues numbers were so erratic, I had come to believe he wouldn't reach the potential I'd thought was there. Even at that, I don't think I ever believed he would look like he has to this point in the major leagues. I expect some regression, but they've already gotten more out of him than I had expected when he was called up.
  23. Honestly, I would assume there is huge interest in any elite prospect. This is like saying, "Other teams like Mike Trout."
  24. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Trent Clark - watch and enjoy, his falling to Milwaukee was a gift 3. Tyrone Taylor 4. Gilbert Lara 5. Kodi Medeiros 6. Monte Harrison - absolutely a believer 7. Clint Coulter 8. Jake Gatewood 9. Taylor Jungmann - doesn't belong here anymore, congrats young man 10. Devin Williams 11. Victor Roache 12. Michael Reed 13. Tyler Cravy 14. Jorge Lopez 15. Tyler Wagner 16. Marcos Diplan 17. Nathan Kirby 18. Jorge Ortega 19. Cody Ponce 20. Cy Sneed 21. Demi Orimoloye 22. Yadiel Rivera 23. Brandon Diaz 24. David Goforth 25. Tucker Neuhaus
