  1. In six career starts vs AZ, Gallardo has allowed 7 total runs. The Brewers led the major leagues in home wins this season, with 57. When's the first pitch?
  2. Believe it or not, in this series, the expected has happened. The Brewers don't lose at home...they didn't. The Diamondbacks don't lose at home...they didn't. Braun and Fielder carry the Brewers' offense...they did. The Diamondbacks hit home runs and steal bases...they did. The Brewers don't hit Collmenter...they didn't. The Diamondbacks have had success against Wolf and Marcum...they did. OK then... In his career, vs the Diamondbacks, Yovani Gallardo has never lost. Ever. In his career, Gallardo has held Arizona to a team batting average of .188, with an OPS of .556. When the Brewers clinched the division, Gallardo was on the mound. When the Brewers won Game One, Gallardo was on the mound. Tomorrow night...it happens again.

  11. Hey you guys....WAKE UP OUT THERE! This is fun stuff...this is game five, at home....this doesn't happen here a whole lot....LIVE IT UP! Enough of the, "Oh golly, we lost two games in a row and now we have to play another one..." We won two games in a row at Miller Park, and now THEY HAVE TO PLAY ANOTHER ONE! Bring it! Let's have it! Somebody's going to win, and somebody's going to lose, and it took over six months to get to this point...what a great time to be a fan! Get your jerseys and caps on, go with the face paint and wave those white towels. THIS is why you're a fan, to get to moments like this one! SHOW UP, ROOT WITH ALL YOU'VE GOT...whatever happens on Friday, this is one of the best moments in franchise history, and this team has worked very hard to make it happen....so HAVE FUN WITH THIS! LET'S GO BREWERS.......LET'S GO BREWERS......LET'S GO BREWERS....LET'S GO BREWERS.....LET'S GO BREWERS.....LET'S GO BREWERS....
  12. "I think in this case we have to go all out, I think this situation requires a really futile, and stupid gesture, be done on somebody's part...and we're just the fans to do it..."
  13. Was it over when the...Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
  14. Win it for Mark Attanasio, who's as big a fan as any of us, and who's given all of us a chance to enjoy this.
  15. A very good friend of mine passed away about a year and a half ago, at age 43. Matt had been in a car accident in NY (Long Island), and after months of surgeries and physical therapy, he died, leaving his wife and five children. Matt's oldest son, Tyler, is a pitcher. Watching Tyler pitch had become Matt's favorite pastime, and Tyler's good...good enough that he's on a full scholarship to a good D-2 program in NY State. I have a lot of connections in baseball, and I was able to help get Tyler scouted by several MLB teams...I'm not sure if he even knows that. Tyler messaged me tonight to say he's now throwing 91 MPH consistently, and that a scout for the Cardinals has recommended him for the NECBL next summer...the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The young man is being noticed...and he's still growing. At this point, he is projected to be throwing 93 MPH by next spring. That's just a projection, it's possible he won't ever reach that number, but he's gone from high 80s to 91 in the last year, and as I said, he's still growing. I just wanted to post this because I love it. Tyler's a good kid who has worked hard, and when it became obvious that he had enough talent to pitch beyond high school, his dad really got excited, calling me each time Tyler pitched a big game, etc. Matt's gone now, but his son has in fact used pitching to get himself to college, and may yet get a chance to pitch professionally. GO TYLER!
  16. I know I saw Brian, brewerjamie, brewermary, sgt clueless, ewizabeff, and hawing today...I may have forgotten some more of the names...who was at the game today?
  17. My son and I were there tonight. What an atmosphere! The crowd was almost as amazing as the game tonight. Last night, I bought two SRO tickets, and would you believe it...we wound up standing just behind the first level seats, directly behind home plate tonight. OK, sure, we stood throughout the game, but we could have called balls and strikes from where we watched that game. I got a million high fives, I wound up drenched in confetti, and my son had the time of his life. As Jon told me how he couldn't get his knees to stop shaking, I fought tears. I jumped around like a wild man when Braun hit that ball out, and again when the Brewers won, and again when the Cardinals lost. A memory to cherish, for sure....here's to even better possibilities in the postseason.
  18. I'll be there tomorrow night...who else is coming out this weekend?
  19. OK, here's the deal... If you see a sign that says, "Left Lane Closed, 2 Miles Ahead", what they're really trying to tell you is...the left lane will be closed two miles ahead. Honest. There's not a lot of mystery here...get your butt out of the left lane! Do not stay in the lane, and gun it, so that you can pass the line of cars that did it the right way...this not only makes you a complete jerk, it also makes you a traffic hazard. Is it illegal to flatten someone's tire at a time like that?
  20. In '87, the team started 20-3, then Molitor tore his hamstring, and they lost their next 12.
  21. This photo is Vada Pinson at spring training in the early 60s...this is not a comment on the Reds, but on society at that time....note the sign on the wall. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/VadaPinson.jpg
  22. Hi Scott- Reds stuff that I know... 1. Barry Larkin should have already been elected to the Hall of Fame. 2. I know Vada Pinson III. V3 is proud of his dad, period, but he constantly raves about his father's time with the Reds. 3. Marge Schott refused to sign Rollie Fingers, unless he shaved off the mustache, to comply with team policy....yes, really. 4. Herm Winningham, a good and decent man, is still haunted by the death of his best friend, Mike Sharperson. (footnote...Sharperson was on base for the Gibson HR off Eckersley..."I do not believe what I just saw...) 5. I've met groups of Reds fans in Milwaukee several times....every time they've been fun people to be around. I cannot say the same for half of the Cubs fans I've been stuck sitting close to.
  23. I've got a lot of friends in southern Missouri....they're all diehard Cardinals fans...and they laugh at LaRussa all the time. Among the Cardinals fans I know, Dave Duncan is brilliant...Tony LaRussa is tolerated. A lot of them blamed LaRussa for Scott Rolen's departure, which made them none too happy.
  24. Morgan has been so big for this team this year, I hate it when we face a lefty, so he has to sit. It just isn't the same offense with any of the other CF options in the 2-hole.
