  1. It is unlikely that Wang will placed on the 60 day DL. Freeing up a spot in the 40 man roster isn't the issue But I think it is very likely he will end up with an extended stay on the 15 day DL and with as many rehab appearances as possible. I would guess he will miss at least a full month sometime in the middle of the season that will will occur when the bullpen is overworked. The Brewers great start made it possible to keep Wang. Wang needs 2 months of pre-September active days and then September when it doesn't matter. He already has one month. Anyone care to predict the injury? I am going with the 'dead arm'. My point here is that keeping Wang isn't hurting the Brewers and most likely won't. The Brewers will put him on the DL as soon as the bullpen requires another pitcher and he will still get his 90 days.
  2. Are we safe to assume that September active days are equal to April-August active days? If Wang needs 90 days including September (expanded rosters) and already has 25 then I think he is well on his way to remaining a Brewer.
  3. This website says Tanner Norton signed yesterday
  4. Good point on the competition, Jwill. For those you dreaming of Profar or Machado, when was the last time a player ranked that high was traded during a deadline deal for a rental player? It very well could have happened but I can't remember one. The gold standard for these types of deals is the Astros/Mariners deal for Randy Johnson in 1998. Mariners received Freddy Garcia, Carlos Guillen, and John Halama. Guillen and Garcia were not in the top 100 in 1998, but were both ranked in the 60-70 range for 1999.
  5. Orioles are supposedly "going hard" after Greinke. They seem like a really good match as they have 2 strong SS prospects in Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop. A package of Schoop, Matuz, and minor league relief prospect would have me interested and seems realistic. Jonathan Schoop Orioles Top 20
  6. Rangers SP Cody Buckel Rangers SP Martin Perez Rangers 3b Mike Olt (Prospect Smackdown) Rangers Top 20
  7. I agree that the Brewers need to weigh the offers against getting 2 draft picks, but Profar is not happening. I don't think that is being pessimistic.
  8. We have 3 spots in a new league this year. This is probably not a good league for beginners but isn't as hardcore as it initially looks. I have played with this scoring system for a long time and really enjoy it. I can e-mail the league constitution to anyone who is interested, just send me a PM. Lots of Brewer fans in the league, some Twins fans. Auction Draft - March 11th 1 PM5 keepers7 man minor league bench (separate minor league snake draft)H2H Points - Weekly Match Ups$40 (using leaguesafe.com to hold the money)Unique scoring system, favors power hitting and power pitching We will most likely be using fantrax.com to host the league.
  9. monty57 wrote: K-Rod made $13.5MM this year, and is now guaranteed at least 80% of that ($10.8MM) if the case goes to arbitration. Therefore, there isn't a reason Boras/K-Rod would accept anything less than a 1 year / $10.8MM deal. Of course, Boras will argue that he should get more than the minimum due, and most players actually get a pay raise in this situation, so the likely salary will be between $10.8MM and $14MM. The 80% rule does not apply in this situation. Brewers can submit any number they want for the arbitration hearing. The arbirtrator just has to pick one side or the other. The 80% rule (and 70% rule) only apply for players in the "indentured servant" years.
  10. K-Rod for Marco Scutaro. C'mon Sox.
  11. Haudricourt Tom Francisco Rodriguez has accepted #[/s]Brewers[/b] arbitration offer.
  12. I want to believe K-Rod has options to close, just as he does. But where? Baltimore, Cincy, Houston, Boston, and Cleveland could use a #1 guy in their bullpen. I just don't see any of those happening. Maybe the BoSox would bite on a short term deal.
  13. I don't believe the $13-14 million dollar predictions that TH and others have used. The 80% rule does not apply in this situation. Melvin said the market has been established at $9 million (Bell), Boras will argue 12 million (Papelbon) and they will meet somewhere in the middle. My prediction 10.5 million. Still really spendy for a set-up guy but he could be attractive in a trade for a team that doesn't want to commit long term to a closer. I just wish I could think of a team that would be interested.
  14. If the player is cut within 16 days before the season begins, he is entitled only to 30 days’ termination pay, or about one-sixth of his awarded salary. If the player is cut during spring training but after the 16th day before the season begins, he is entitled only to 45 days' termination pay. Basically, we took a $2 million dollar risk offering arbitration to K-Rod.
  15. Peralta would be the player I would like to see get called up for a spot start. He last pitched last Sunday. The other candidate would be Frankie de la Cruz, who should also be available. They could also bring Scarpetta back up. They did it once already. I think he last pitched during the weekend (Sat?).
  16. The game was available on ESPN 3. Most games that are on ESPN 3 are available able to be replayed for a short time. I watched the first 2 innings. Lopez was working at 88-91 and had a curveball around 74. The breaking pitch was not consistent and he struggled at times locating his fastball. I think he hit 3 batters, had 1 WP, and a balk. I saw the the 2b commit two errors and the first baseman miss a ball that he should have had that was ruled a hit. http://www.pointstreak.com/baseball/boxscore.html?gameid=54411
  17. http://mlb.mlb.com/search/media.jsp?player_id=448276 This a link to all the videos that he was tagged in on mlb.com. There are a handful of videos showing off his arm. From the looks of these highlights, he has a very strong, accurate arm.
  18. Peralta with a very nice start for Huntsville. I am pretty sure he wanted to make a statement to the voters of the Power 50 before the next installment is done. 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 BB, 9k 90 pitches
  19. Rickie Week's home run off Homer Baily had the lowest elevation angle of any home run this year. (Not including the inside the park home runs). http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=16726143
  20. 1. Wily Peralta - I am putting him here based on Klaw report that he was hitting 98, 6 months younger than Thornburg and at AA 2. Tyler Thornburg - I'll admit I don't like hearing that a top prospect has a funky delivery however I will be teaching my son to throw like Josh Collmenter 3. Nic Bucci - Similar numbers to Heckathorn at A+, but is 2 years younger 4. Taylor Green - It is nice to see him back on these top 10 lists 5. Caleb Gindl - Last year was a down year for him but his OPS has been solid every other year 6. Cody Scarpatta - His numbers are very similar to Peralta's 7. Kyle Heckathorn - Seems to be making solid progress 8. Kris Davis - Gotta love the numbers, would love to see him in AA 9. Hunter Morris - Also, would like to see him in AA 10. Yadiel Rivera - If he didn't hit for the cycle yesterday he probably wouldn't be on the list but his overall numbers are good, he'll still be young for A ball next year
  21. I am looking to join a Fantasy Baseball league in the Twin Cities area. Criteria : Keeper H2H Minor Leaguers 16 or more teams unique scoring system Twin Cities area Auction draft Live draft with all owners present (not online) I think I am a pretty good Fantasy Player and have done very well in my league. I have been in the same league for 9 years and will only do 1 league at a time. I can learn a new scoring system but want a league that has dedicated owners who take fantasy baseball a little too serious, just like me. No free leagues, no leagues that just started up. I am no rush to join a league, just want to find a fun, competitive league in the TC. If you know of a league that might work for me, even if they don't have an opening at the moment. Please let me know.
  22. Hyer7 As a Brewer fan I was pumped to see a Brewer in the Honorable Mention category. That was a pleasant surprise. Did you put him there to appease Brewers fans who want to see a Brewer on the list or is Peralta a legit top 60 talent? The K rate has certainly rebounded. Can he stay in the rotation or is he destined for the pen? K_Law I didn't appease Cubs or White Sox fans in that way. Legit top 100 talent, gets groundballs, would like to see him miss a few more bats, also a chance he ends up in the pen but I think he can start. I like Klaw more after this answer. He affirms that the Brewers have a legit prospect and puts down the Cubs in the same answer.
  23. Klaw ranked Wily Peralta among his Honorable Mentions in Mid-Season top 50. He also had this to say about Peralta in his latest chat. Looks like Klaw agrees with the Power 50 that Peralta is the Brewers best prospect. Tito (Boston) What has Wily Peralta done to go from outside the Top 100 to honorable mention for the Top 50? His numbers from this year seem relatively pedestrian Klaw (2:03 PM) Heard he was hitting 98 repeatedly in the matchup against Eovaldi last week - and he's getting groundballs, too.
  24. Found some more information on Adalberto Mondesi in an article about the Royals big international signing. He is listed as a SS and the asking price is around 1 million. The Royals are pursueing him, too. http://www.kansascity.com/2011/07/02/2990531/royals-notebook-agreement-reached.html
