  1. Fagan was worse but Darling's still got to see it too. It wasn't even close. I still think it's embarassing when you toss a guy and you clearly blew the call.
  2. Worst checked swing call I ever saw. How could they both miss it? He went all the way around. Seems like if you miss one that bad you just keep quiet about it instead of tossing somebody with a legitimate complaint.
  3. The UT notes that the Brewers are the "hottest team in the league," that the Pads are one of the worst, and that the Brewers have had success against Marquis. On the other hand last time I was at Petco Jeff Suppan shut them out. I'm trusting it will take at least 3 games of good karma to balance that out.
  4. Nice to have a 7 game streak coming into San Diego. I told socalbrewfan last Sat. it looked like we were going to have to wear bags over our heads - should have listened to pe/Ueck. Anyone else planning to be at Petco tomorrow?
  5. Remember this one? Lyons, too, went wild—with disturbing frequency—on the base paths. To this day some people think that is how he got the nickname Psycho. His most memorable gaffe occurred in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers in June 1986. Boston trailed Milwaukee 7-5 in the ninth inning. Lyons was at second, Marty Barrett was at first, and Wade Boggs, who was hitting .400 at the time, was the batter. "I could hear Marty trying to whisper to me from 90 feet away, 'If you can get a good jump, go!' " Lyons recalls. "A double steal would have put the tying run on second. I didn't stop to think how bad the consequences would be if I got thrown out." Lyons went on the next pitch, and, naturally, he was thrown out at third to end the game. "It was the worst I've ever felt in baseball. When I got to the locker room, McNamara yelled at me, 'Just keep walking right into my office.' He fined me $300. I didn't play much after that, and a little over three weeks later I was traded to Chicago. In a way, I'm glad I pulled my pants down. I'd just as soon be remembered for that as for being thrown out trying to steal third base."
  6. Can anyone remember a big walkoff hit Weeks has ever had? I vaguely remember something against Isringhausen years back. Yes, May 9, 2008: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280509108 I remember being at Petco that night and seeing the score go up. I could have sworn it was within the last year or two.
  7. Ueck wondering if Posey/Giants are nervous about having him block the plate.
  8. Gonzalez and Badenhop do the job. Wow. Although Metheny's dumb sac call helped a lot. Nice one to pull out.
  9. According to fangraphs it's over 90 percent. But fangraphs assumes you won't give away one of the outs for no reason at all.
  10. Block says that Ueck is back to call the action for the 5th. Ueck: "What action?" Later in the inning he joked about jumping off one of the rocks at the Dells.
  11. The top LI (bottom of the 9th or extras, bases loaded, 2 out, down a run) is actually over 10, about 10.7 I think.
  12. Ueck says it was like batting practice except the pitches came in faster.
  13. Nice job by Henderson. He got 4 or 5 outs depending on how you count the one off Yuni's glove.
  14. I agree it's only 10 ABs but they may be the worst 10 straight ABs in history. Marmol gave him 3 straight hittable pitches.
  15. So Weeks comes up with 1 out and a guy on 3d down a run, knows a pitcher will be batting behind him and looks at 4 straight pitches, 3 of which are strikes. Words fail.
  16. On the bright side Kameron Loe is losing games for somebody else this year.
  17. Yes, gameday eventually updated to show the 9th and the boxscore in the LA Times showed it as well. I guess ESPN never caught up.
