  1. I know and agree. The arbitors will take as long as they need to come to what they feel is the right decision. I just find it funny that Lance Allen does not seem to know what a business day is.
  2. Lance Allen in the "one minute sports" this morning on Channel 4 said that MLB has 25 "business days" to make a decision on Braun then he said that would be February 19. What? February 19th is a Sunday. Lance, do you know what business days are?
  3. Also, as someone stated in an earlier post, the 25 day period is not a hard and fast rule. They try to come to a decision within 25 days, but depending on the situation, it could take longer.
  4. My understanding was that if this resulted in a suspension, then MLB would make that announcement (wouldn't they have to - just like when anyone gets suspended?) and if there is no suspension they just inform Braun (who would, in turn, likely make a statement)
  5. Interesting. I'm guessing a lot of people will be skeptical about this decision and will want to state that this was purely Brauns decision and that maybe he knows something now about his fate. However, I really don't think that's the case at all and I can see why the Brewers might have suggested strongly to him that he sit this one out. The Brewer fans are great, but sometimes the general public at an event like this can be, lets say "less than tactful" in regards to some of the comments they might make. The last thing the Brewers want is to deal with that at an event that is supposed to celebrate the Brewers and there upcoming season. The one piece of skepticism that I do have, that is directed at the Brewers, is the timing of this. I'm guessing that they were somewhat uncomfortable with Braun attending this thing from the start. Perhaps they were hoping for a "verdict" by now, but part of me wants to think they didn't want to put a damper on the ticket sales for this event either.
  6. Houston Halliburtons Houston Ham Fighters
  7. Hmmm...I wasn't aware of that. Just looked it up on Wikipedia. Interesting how the name still fit when they moved.
  8. This. If the "NASA not relevant any more" argument was true, then why don't the Rockets change their name also?
  9. What's happening this year? Is Miggy going to be the DH? Is Miggy a worse fielder than Fielder? My understanding all along was that Fielder was adamant about not being a DH. I doubt that he would be happy about becoming the DH next year. I think it's more likely that the Tigers try to swing a trade involving one of these guys before next season (2013) starts.
  10. Don't you mean irrational expectations? Also, just to tweek my original "term"..Over exaggerating the frequency of unpleasant outliers syndrome.
  11. It was the same source who said that Braun has a good defense. It was in the Dan Patrick audio. Said two other Brewers had highly elevated resultsSo... Is it possible that there are 2 other Brewers going through the same process as Braun right now, that we are unaware of? I actually brought this up in post #1040, but it was somewhat dismissed by a few others. I don't think it's completely unrealistic to think this is true (if Dan Patricks information is correct). Just because Braun's issue was "exposed" does not mean that the other Brewers would necessarily be.
  12. "Innocent" or "Not Guilty", seems to me the only way he gets "exonerated" is to either A) prove the tests were faulty or B) prove that there was no possible way that he could have known that he took the substance that caused a positive test (i.e. someone slipped him a "mickey")
  13. Over exaggerating the frequency of outliers syndrome.
  14. Went to go see Extremely loud and Incredibly close on Saturday night with my wife and son. It's rare that we would go and see a film on the weekend it comes out, but it was one that we all wanted to see and we also were eager to get out of the house and do something. Bought the tickets ahead of time, got there about 20 minutes early and staked out some good seats even though the theater was already 30% full when we got there (Ultra Screen at The Majestic in Brookfield). By the time previews started there were very few seats left in the theater, but there were 2 to my right. Shortly after the credits started two people took those seats (I didn't notice their age at the time in the dark theater) and shortly after they sat down, a women came up to them and said "Glad you guys found seats, we are still looking". I lifted my drink from the cup holder to take a drink and before I could put it back the person next to me put his ICEE in the holder. It was then that I realized that this person sitting next to was no more than 10 years old and he was sitting next to his sister, who was also close to his age. Neither one had an adult guardian sitting with them. Not all 10 year olds are completely immature and obnoxious, unfortunately this one was. I won't go into the plot of this movies (I'm guessing most people reading this know the premise of the movie), but it was way to "heavy" for this boy to appreciate and he made it clear that he was not going to attempt to try to understand the movie. From the time the movie began he was talking and making imature remarks. I had to tell him 4 times during the move to be quiet. Two were very early into the movie. I thought to myself, if he acts up again, I'm just going to have to go get an usher. However, he was somewhat tolerable for most of the middle part of the movie. However, just went the movie was begining to climax he started up again and at that point I really did not want to go the the trouble of getting an usher. My anger is more directed at his parents. This was a PG 13 film and you have to know your children. Perhaps some 10 year olds could have handled this film, but not this kid and he didn't care at all if he ruined the experience for anyone else. If there are not enough seats for the whole family to sit together, then the parents have to split up and each sit with a child instead of making another person "baby sit" their non-respectful kids. Some people continue to live there lives after they have kids as if they don't have kids. They want to see a movie, they drag the kids along even if the movie is not really appropriate for their age. They have no concerns about anyone else and their children will grow up the same way. Very annoying.
  15. So...if this is true...does this mean that two other Brewers tested positive and are also going through an appeal process? I sure hope not!
  16. I actually thought last night was one of the worst episodes of the Office I had seen and I'm usually not as critical of the show as others are. There were some really kind of odd moments that they chose to cut to commercials. Moments that were more disturbing than funny.
  17. Maybe this has already been answered somewhere in this thread (if so, I apologize), however, is there anywhere to find splits for Japanese hitters? I'd be curious to see if Aoki ever faced Darvish, and if so, how he fared against him.
  18. People who do not know how to merge or change lanes on the freeway. There is a long skinny peddle that your right foot rests on. Changing the amount of pressure your foot exerts on this peddle will cause your car to speed up or slow down. You can you this wonderful feature of your car to help you pick appropriate gaps in the traffic for which to maneuver your vehicle into.
  19. That last sentence is really irritating. WHY? I know those aren't your words RyDogg. They're not validating the suspension they're just suggesting the most likely outcome. I would say that sentence is more accurate then saying the 50 game sentence is likely to be over-turned. I think what MoreTrife is trying to say is why put any opinion about the outcome in there at all? Putting that sentence in there makes it sound like they have some sort of inside information about the situation, but they are not going to explain any further.
  20. Did I miss it or has there still been no details on the terms of the contract yet? Kind of odd. Even if the Brewers have not officially released the numbers, there is usually some reporting source that is able to get this information a head of the official release.
  21. He can appeal this decision? I thought this was the final step?
  22. I didn't realize that Parra had those kind of numbers in relief. I guess I can cut him some slack for that and if he puts up similar numbers this year, then yes, he's worth it. Also, the initial report I saw on MLB trade rumors stated he was getting a raise. Looks like he's not. As far as comparing him to the Rolling Stones, Will Ferrel, etc. I believe the Stones had the highest ticket sales for their tour a year or two ago (vs. all other tours that year). Regardless of how much you may think they stink, they still have plenty of people that will buy their albums and go see them in concert and that's why Mick , Keith , and company make that kind of money. As bad as Will Ferrell may have been in "Land of the Lost", I'm sure the movie sold a lot more tickets with him in it that it would have with say Jim Belushi or someone like that. Also, I didn't see the movie, but was it really Ferrell that was bad, or the writing, directing, plot, co-stars, and other things that were out of Ferrell's control? Anyways, it's called drawing power. I don't think anyone would cancel their season ticket package if the Brewers decided not to keep Manny Parra.
  23. I have the Samsung Nexus 4G that came out last May. Samsung seems to use a lot of similar names (Galaxy, Nexus) I didn't realize that there was a Galaxy Nexus. They seem to like words with X's in them. Even with these battery issues with my Samsung phone, I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and I like it so far. Doesn't suck up the battery nearly as much as the phone does.
  24. That's kind of my point. That's what's maddening to me.
  25. It doesn't have to be someone that throws hard. My point was that just because you throw hard, doesn't mean you are good. 2008: 4.39 ERA 1.54 Whip 2009: 6.36/1.83 2010: 5.01/1.62 2011: Didn't pitch So, this earns you a $100,000 raise in MLB? Why does arbitration equal an automatic raise? I'll be completely honest, I don't have a extensive knowledge of Brewer minor pitchers and I really don't want to go research it right now. I know that the Brewers pitching depth in the minors is lacking, but I find it hard to believe that there is not at least one AA or AAA pitcher in the system that could match these numbers at 1/3 the cost.
