  1. . I guess if that is the rule. I think the rule needs to be changed though. I think intent and if an out was even possible needs to be considered. Kind of like interference on an uncatchable ball in football.
  2. The occasional day game during the week on YouTube - fine, but a Friday night game? Yuck. My biggest issue with it is that many times it appears my feed is delayed by at least 30-60 seconds, especially later in the game. I may just decide to listen to this one on the radio.
  3. Didn't the doorman use to post occasionally on this site? Perhaps he'll check in at some point and provide some insight into his absence (I feel like it was well before COVID that he went awol).
  4. I noticed that too earlier in the game! Seems like a long time since I have seen him in those seats.
  5. I think if they looked at that Urias SB again, he would be out. When he was tagged, he wasn't touching the bag with any part of his body.
  6. Why? Because they didn't have a decent angle on this play? Replay is worth it for the calls that are obviously missed....while we are at it lets go to robo strike zone. Because I'm so tired of watching horrible strike zones and some umpires unwilling to learn or unwilling to change. They can't be fired, so why would they make any attempt to change.
  7. Gotta be some of the worst 6 innings of MLB baseball I have ever seen. Reminds me of a U7 game. I think there needs to be an investigation. It's like each team has bet against itself. Winker doing his best Shoeless Joe Jackson impersonation in LF. edit: Ok, I know, "MLB baseball" is redundant.
  8. I sure hope there is some point in the season, at least in September, where Hader is allowed to pitch in this situation.
  9. It slows the game down so much especially when a pitcher throws over 4 or 5 times before even throwing a pitch. One or two times fine but after that just throw a dang pitch already. And let the runner get a big lead and steal 2nd? I think the pitcher should do whatever he feels is necessary to get outs and not worry about how much it "delays" the game.
  10. Booing the pickoff attempt is also part of baseball. It is rare to go to a major or minor league game where the away pitcher isn't booed for doing so. Maybe, but I still find it annoying. I also feel like it has increased dramatically over the years. I don't remember a lot of booing of pick off moves 20-30 years ago.
  11. I do it every time the opposing team does it, because, tradition. And it makes my son shake his head. Lol. Your son sounds like my son. He does not suffer fools when it comes to baseball.
  12. Never understand when people boo pick-off attempts to 1st (whether its our fans or another team's fans). That's part of baseball, and there is a clear example of why you do it. Of course the clown who is the current MLB commissioner has hinted at making new rules to limit pick-off attempts.
  13. This is on BSWI and ESPN? Turned on BSWI expecting to see the pre-game. There is a golf program on and ESPN has Wimbledon until 3pm. edit: actually ESPN2 has Wimbledon until 3, ESPN has it until 1:30. I'm assuming it will be on BSWI with no pre-game?
  14. I'd suggest that he's basing those decisions that seem questionable to us on information/analysis that we don't have available to us, making it less questionable to him in the first place. Yeah, despite my disagreement with not starting Burns, I have always been a pretty big Counsell supporter. I really enjoy watching the emotion he throws into this team. He really cares and I think the players pick up on that.
  15. Might've been just to save Yelich. Yelich was exchanging words with the ump on his walk back to the dugout so Haines might've stepped in to take the fall before the player did This would absolutely be my bet.... Possibly...but even when Yelich protests, he does it in a very calm Yelich way which rarely gets him tossed (has he ever been tossed?). I mean Haines was really really angry for someone who was just protecting one of his players.....and it was a correctly called strike. For the most part, the home plate umpire has been good.
  16. So many odd things about this game. Haines getting so angry and tossed is still puzzling. That frustration would have been understandable at so many points this year with the Brewer's offensive struggles. But with some of the recent offensive outbursts, you would think he would be in a much happier place. Maybe he had an argument with his wife or something this morning.
  17. Dude's not a bad player. Never has been. He's reverting to career norms. I think the Cubs bullpen also is regressing to the norm.
  18. So many other times during the season I wish they would have gotten that angry about the strike zone. Not this time. That was a strike
  19. I think it's going to come down to going for the 2 point conversion at the end of the game.
  20. I'll gladly eat crow for saying we were "handing the Cubs a win" if we can pull this one out!
