  1. I do know that Pittsburgh is not a threat. Even, with all those factors you mentioned...yes, I do believe that where the Cubs stand will make a difference as to whether they buy or sell. This game is not one game, it's two. Cubs win, they are 4 games out, they lose they are 6 games out. But maybe we are going to win anyways!!!
  2. Perhaps starting Ashby is not an "automatic loss". But c'mon - Burns clearly gives the Brewers a better chance of winning over Ashby/bullpen. Did not look at the lines, but I'm guessing that the Brewers may not have bee favored to win this game.
  3. Again, for most of us arguing that Burns should have pitched today, this is not what we are saying at all. You can accomplish the same objective and give starters just as much rest by being strategic about when you do it. When did they start the 6 man rotation - wasn't it not until the beginning of June (maybe I'm wrong)? They could have started it earlier - like late mid/late May. Plan the pitching schedule and rest while keeping key series against teams you are battling in mind.
  4. Not a "Monday morning QB"...have been saying this since they announced the decision not to pitch Burns today. Perhaps you are right, anything is possible, but that was not the reason the team game - so no reason to believe that is the case, unless you have some inside information that it is. I highly doubt that it's just not a general 6 man rotation decision if he's good to go tomorrow. Pitch Burns today and then go back to the 6 man rotation. That's all I'm saying. I think the risk-reward of having him go on 4 day rest to pitch in this series is well worth it.
  5. Keep beating this drum. I think you’ll look foolish by the end of the season but hey, that’s just an opinion. Each pitcher could end up pitching the same number of innings that they will eventually pitch using this 6 man rotation. However, why not do it strategically. When we have several games against non-division foes, then use the 6 man and give extra rest. When we are playing a team that could clearly be the team we are battling at the end, we need all hands on deck. Not against resting pitchers. I'm against the timing of it. Let's remember this game when it's late September and there is less than a game or two that separates us and the Cubs.
  6. So glad we decided to hand the Cubs a win and take a loss so that Burns might be fresh for that crucial game against Detroit in September.
  7. It working - how do you know? Won't know that until September. So far looking great for this game!!
  8. Based on their ultra-conservative approach to the pitching staff, my guess is that they will still stick with the 6 man rotation even with the off days. Maybe by the end of September they will go to a 5 man rotation. Hopefully it will still matter at that point.
  9. Not sure I'm getting the point. He's only given up 2 runs in 5+ innings. Threw his hardest pitch in the 5th inning. Also, I'm not arguing that we shouldn't be careful with Innings pitched for our pitchers. I'm saying let's be strategic about it. Wins in August and September don't count for more than wins in any other month. However, wins against teams we are battling against for the division title do count more than wins against non-division opponents since it's not only a mark in the win column for us, but also one in the loss column for them. I think we can get to the same targeted innings pitched and pitch count at the end of the season by making better decisions on which stretches during the season we are going to provide rest and which we are not. Why bank it all for the end of the season? The end of the season may not mean anything if we don't win key games against division rivals during the rest of the season.
  10. Good thing Baez is a Moron. Hey Javy, your best hitter is currently at bat, why don't you risk getting thrown out?
  11. Rock drives me nuts. That last pitch on Yelich..."Pretty close, could have been a strike". No Bill, we have technology that tells us that it was not a strike.
  12. Sure, but I like our chances with Burns a whole lot more. Is pitching him on 4 days rest this one time going to mean that he's useless in September? If so, then we definitely should use him now while we can. This is the team that is closest to us in the standings. This is a key rival for the division championship. We only face them 7 more times after this series. This is a chance to put some distance between us and them. The reason you give your pitchers extra rest are for series like this. Then again.......ugh.
  13. I do not get this at all. Frustrating. It was set up beautifully for this series. In fact, I thought perhaps that was one of the reasons they went to 6 man rotation for a while - to set this series up. With your top three pitchers, you have a chance to sweep, put the Cubs 6 back, and maybe by mid month both the Cards and Cubs are deciding that are not going to be buyers at the deadline. Does not make any sense. There's so much more baseball to go, why risk it with Burnes. Keep the pitchers on the schedule they've planned for, it's June. They are playing the Cubs!! This is a key series! A Brewers win in this series is a Cubs loss. Why not take a break right now from the 6 man rotation and then going back to it after this series?

  15. Definitely remember this even though I was very young. Was so odd always seeing him in the dugout but he never played after the All Star break. Interesting you bring him up when the main reason for it was the cheapness of the guy you have as an avatar. Can only imagine the outrage of wasting a 26 man spot today on say Bradley but never playing him. The reason he is in my avatar is because without him, there are no Brewers or MLB baseball in Milwaukee. Without him I don't grow up watching and loving the Brewers and being able to go to all the games I went to as a kid, including the World Series. I wouldn't get to share the enjoyment of attending, in person, 15-30 Major League games every year with my wife and son over the last 20-25 years, including the excitement of the post season games. My son and I text and communicate almost on a daily basis regarding the Brewers. We have also been fortunate enough as season seat holders to participate in on-field batting practice at Miller Park/Am Fam field. None of that happens without Bud Selig. Anything negative that he did as owner of the Brewers or commissioner of baseball (I think he was a great commissioner, especially compared to the bozo running baseball today) is completely superseded by the fact that, against all odds, he brought MLB baseball back to Milwaukee. This conversation we are having and this site and message board don't exist without Bud Selig. So I find it interesting, odd, and ironic when Brewer fans rip on him or talk about how much they dislike him.
  16. As I'm watching the game today with Cecil Cooper throwing out the first pitch and being interviewing between innings, I was thinking about his final season. I never hear it brought up, but his career with the Brewers did not end well. I remember going into Mearl Harmon's Fan Fair at Southridge in 1987 to buy a Molitor hitting streak tee shirt and on the same rack seeing a Cecil Cooper sitting streak tee shirt. Here is an article that talks about it. I can't imagine a team burning a roster spot like this in today's game. https://shepherdexpress.com/sports/brew-crew-confidential/we-want-coop-brewers-legend-cecil-cooper-ended-brewers-career-bench/
  17. This is the most inconsistent umpire I think I have ever seen. I have not been able to determine if its a small strike zone or a large strike zone. Seems to change with each hitter. Also, I find it interesting that front row Amy is wearing a mask.
  18. People who are, for some reason, unable to modulate their voice based on the distance between them and the person they are talking to. If you are 15 or 20 feet away from me I should not be able to clearly hear your conversation. My wife and I like to take walks at Lapham Peak. Usually pretty peaceful, but then you run across the two people who are walking right next to each other but are basically shouting at each other, can hear them clearly50 yards down the path. I also come across this a lot in restaurants and on golf courses. Reminds me of this Wil Farrell character from SNL's weekend update:
  19. Probably some hullabaloo with the "re-opening day" stuff, combined with the Bucks being in the Eastern Conference finals. Ahh yes, I knew there was some kind of reason. Probably would have gotten more people not trying to make it a gimmicky "opening day" style time. They are no where near selling out that game. I understand the Friday "re-opening" day start time, but I'm a bit frustrated with all the 3:10 Saturday games this month. This will be the 3rd one. I have the Saturday 20 game package and had other events get in the way of me and my wife going to the previous two Saturday games. I would not have been able to use them, even if they were night games, but at least I could have given them to my Son. He could have made both games at 6:10 (the normal Saturday start time), but couldn't make either of the previous games because HS baseball coaching obligations.
  20. No. It's being lazy and inconsiderate, not "fine". I don't know how else you would explain not taking the simple steps to put a cart back where it belongs when you are done using it so that it does not block a spot or possibly roll into someone's car. So many people out there who believe they are "special". I'm guessing I'm going to get responses stating certain cases where it's not being rude (someone who is disabled, etc). May be true, but clearly the minority of incidents of this behavior. He is saying it is fine to leave it in the cart stall...where it belongs. He isn't saying it is fine to leave it randomly in the lot or in a parking space. Oh - ha! Man, I need to learn how to read! Yes, in complete agreement with Outlander on that one then. Sorry!
